How do you guys like your 02's? I'm also considering an 02 blazer 4x4. Do you think I can reasonably expect to get 150k miles out of the engine if it's maintained properly? Driving mix is probably 90% country backrouds (guess that would be like hwy) and 10% city.
I like the Blazers and TB's but if there is any truth to the statement that brakes wear out very quickly on the 03's, I might look for something else.
Thanks. For your replies. Any other input is welcome.
I have 80K miles on my TB and my mechanic advises the pads are 50% worn. Not bad! I do mixed driving b/w city and highway. No rotor warping or anything. When you first drive a TB, the "feel" of the brake pedal is a little dull (they all do that), but you do get used to it. He told me he has seen Chevy 1500's get 150K miles on original brakes. I agree with the Host, a lot has to do with the way a person drives.
Each front wheel uses 4 pistons on very large calipers for awesome stopping power. I read the TB stopped 60-0 in only 109 feet!! I think that is better than a Honda Accord.

I was driving one day and it was very windy and the windows were whistling and it always sounds like i have a window cracked open, also me head liner, which is only held on by sticky velcro, has fallen down around my sunroof 3 times
The dealer says the noises are normal but no one i know with an older TB has any outside noise at all
Anyone else having any of these problems??????
An improved clutch assembly that is better at low temps is available, but it's $$$$ if your out of warranty.
If it is the fan clutch, the only detrimental things I can think of by driving it that way is of course the noise, and reduced fuel mileage since the fan is running hard all the time (the purpose of the viscious clutch is to increase fuel mileage, which of course has been mandated by the federal government).
As I said our 02 does it only occasionally and then it doesn't last long, but we live in a warm climate bouncing back and forth between So. California and Arizona. I do believe it happens more in colder climates.
You should check with your local dealer and see if can be repaired under some type of hidden warranty, since they came out with an improved fan clutch due to the owners complaints. Also if you haven't done so search in this forum for others that have had the same issue. They may have more knowledge of it than me.
FWIW, we just purchased an '05 Malibu. On it neither the electric mirror select switch nor the window switches on the rear doors illuminate. Little light bulbs must be expensive.

I've since noticed that when I turn my ignition to run, there is no chime reminding me to put my seat belt on (like I know it used to do), the seat belt light stays on like it would if I didn't have my seat belt on (its shuts off after about a minute like it would if I wasn't wearing it), and the air bag remains on.
This morning, the problem happened again after sitting for the weekend, the lights came on, I shut it off and restarted it and they all went off. I know there's been electrical problems before, but has anyone had anything like this. I know exactly what will happen when I bring it to the dealer, they'll scratch their heads and start replacing things and probably not know what the problem fully is. '02 Trailblazer LS with about 70,000 miles.
thanks mark
Nothing is broke, but since I read your post,

Open hood. Remove front trim piece/grille (that thing that extends over the light housings, thanks GM) by carefully prying it off. It's held on with a series of spring clips. I used a putty knife and started in the center and worked it off slowly, but once it's started it seemed to come off easily.
When that's off you can remove the light assemblies buy releasing the lock clips (a stainless steel tab) on the top of them, one on each end. The inner one is easy to get to, the outer is under the fender somewhat, so I used a long flat screwdriver to release it. You just pull them straight up.
The light assembly will pull out forward. I unhooked all the wire connectors and took it to my workbench, but you could probably do it without doing that. Anyway, remove the rubber cover behind the bulb you want to change, remove the connector from the bulb, and remove the bulb by turning it counterclockwise? until it comes out.
Don't touch the glass part of the new bulb with your fingers when putting it in.
Also, it's a good idea to put a blanket or something on top of the front bumper so it won't get scratched.
Re-assemble in the reverse order. Remember to line up the spring clips when putting that grille thing back on, and just push it on all over to make sure they all engage.
Poor Rear Heat Performance (Install Auxiliary Heater Pump)
2003-2005 TrailBlazer EXT
Condition: Some customers may complain of poor 2nd and/or 3rd row seating heater performance when the vehicle is at idle.
Cause: This condition may be due to lack of coolant circulation to the rear heater core.
Correction: Install auxiliary heater pump package. (P/N 89024885 L6, 89024886, V8) This pump will improve coolant flow to the rear heater core.
But wind noise is the killer (might make me get rid of this before ZR2 ( ). Glenn (in front range of Col.)
