The decreased towing capacity is interesting. Heck, the current Explorer is rated to tow more.
Lots of things effect tow ratings. HP & torque probably have the lowest effect on what the ratings actually are. The suspension, chassis, brakes, and transmission etc. are far more important in determining what a vehicle can safely tow. Look at 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. The diesel option does not increase tow ratings over the biggest gas engine.
I have my new performance exhaust on order with Zoomersexhaust (supposed to be shipped 5/26) - I will be able to let you know how it sounds (along with a link to an mpeg hopefully) shortly after that. :shades:

On the new Escalade, I had to change to a 4" drop to maintain the same hitch-ball height. There's a 6" difference.
Dave
You will have the 5-6" difference (higher) in height from any previous generation of GM SUV. Be prepared.
Dave
When you put the boat on, the air compressor will kick in within 5 seconds, and restore the same rear height.
On a side note, I have since lowered my Escalade by 2", by replacing the rear coils springs. This actually makes the vehicle "level". GM SUV's tend to have a large amount of wheel well clearance, and so it has the stink-bug look. I didn't want to alter the front end, since this affects the CV boots, axle angles and such, but I wanted the rear down a bit.
I used a Hotchkis "leveling kit", designed for the '02-05 years. Seems GM didn't design different spring mounts. However the 1.5" drop kit created a 2" drop on the '07. Must be some extra weight in the rear of the new generation GMs.
The air system pumps up 1/4 inch to make the total drop actually 1.75". The kit contains 2 coil springs, 2 replacement air-ride level sensor rods. Did the whole thing at home in 1 hour, using a floor jack, a bottle jack, and basic tools.
Dave
On my wife's little BMW X3, the air is drawn in under the windshield, because everytime we hit the washer's, we smell the fluid immediately.
It may be that the GM SUV's are pulling fresh air from an area that is susceptible to vehicle exhaust in front of you. Who knows.

I think it balances out the whole look, when flappers are installed. Kind of the "Land Cruiser" look.">

This is a black set, and the part numbers are shown.
Other colors available.

easily removed if you need to put the third row seats back into the truck. It cost me $65. It has worked out very well so far.
are the same matte color as the running board mat.
They also look great and no more mud, sand etc on the running boards.
You said it's a rubberized piece. How does it handle the plastic guides that are attached to the floor where the 3rd row seats sit?

Second question... How are the bowtie emblems removed? I have a set of chrome ones but they dont seem to fit the OEM space. I checked behind the grille and couldnt tell if the factory bowtie was taped on or attached by some sort of weird bolts. Does the gold bowtie and the black piece behind it both come off to make room for the new one. Anyone with any clue/pics to point me in the right direction?
I've had my LTZ in the shop 4 times now for an unrelated issue (flirting with the Lemon Law here in Florida :lemon: )...And just yesterday while it was there, they said they also "Reprogramed HVAC Module Per Campaign" (this is what shows on my copy of the work order they gave to me). This is a recall that has just been put out...So you guys (gals) may be hearing more about it.
Just thought I'd let everyone know..........
rockin_ltz - I'm interested in knowing what your vehicle was in the shop for. It wasn't tied to the tranmission in any way was it?
Also, my chrome replacement was considerably smaller than the OEM gold-and-black. But it fit really nicely into a small groove you'll discover when you get the gold one off.
The bowtie on the tailgate is just taped on. No nuts to contend with. But there are two small posts that snug into two small holes.
Now here's my question for you. Did you find a chrome bowtie for the rear, 'cause I'm still looking...?
My Nav DVD does the same thing. I'll hear it working away at all hours. I talked to the dealer. They gave me a GM Service Bulletin. Here's what it says:
"It is normal operation after the RKE (remote) is used to unlock the vehicle or the driver's door is opened. This noise will also be heard during normal vehicle use. The noise is also normal operation for up to three minutes after the vehicle is turned off and the driver's door has been opened and closed."
Don't know if this really explains it. I'll have to try checking on it some morning by opening up the passenger's side door. Who knows...?

I've looked everywhere....
any help would be awesome!

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I was out of town for a few days. As sj110 said, it is a solid mat with
cupped edges that slides over the guides for the third row. It is true that the third row seats need to be removed
to use the mat, but I seldom use the third row and far more
often I am hauling something in the back. The solid mat doesn't allow debri, liquid etc. to escape. Since this my
first Yukon (after 14 years with Toyotas), I couldn't tell you if it is similar to the cargo mats from the past. I just think it works great and keeps the rest of the cabin clean.

They make one with the cutout as well if you do want to leave the seats in. I have it and it works great.
What do you guys recommend, suggest, etc. I really would rather get a new one.
Thanks in advance.
That makes sense. I suppose it takes a while for the Nav system to boot and access the data on that DVD. It gets a head start by spinning up the DVD at the first hint the truck is about to be started.
The 4WD Tahoe is going to move us from Atlanta to Midland, TX with U-haul trailer in tow. In Midland, it will be a daily driver with the occasional trip to the hunting lease but mostly city driving(no tow). Then it will move us to Dallas in December with U-haul in tow as well then we're going to sell it(purely a 3rd car that won't be necessary anymore).
So, what rear-end ratio would work best for me?
Thanks in advance.
