The discussions here are agonizing, due to inaccuracies and misinformation.
First the TITAN was designed in America, by Americans. Second the TITAN is BUILT in AMERICA by Americans. Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Honda, pretty much every Japanese mfg. has a plant in the US and employ hundreds of thousands of Americans. These companies have not shut down and single plant and doesn't look like any problems in the near future will shut them down either.
Saying the Titan can't compete with the domestics because they have had trucks for years is like saying Cadillac has been building luxury cars for over a 100 years so their better. Yet Lexus with its LS400 since 1989 has consistently DOMINATED Cadillac and Lincoln in every vehicle offering. When creating the TITAN the engineering team (numerous FORD, GM, and DODGE engineers were recruited) bench marked each competitors strong points and exceeded expectations. The only contender to the Titan would be the F150- there is no reason to even argue otherwise.
And finally, stating that "wasteful is the Asian way of thinking," is in itself an oxymoron- there's absolutely nothing wasteful in the Asian culture. I am an American, and the most wasteful and excess loving culture in the world is our own Country. Wasteful is having 120 plus day supply of vehicles just to keep the factory running. Wasteful is the Ford Excursion. Giving you more options is how MFG's make money- bundling popular equipment is actually more of a price savings for the shopper.
It baffles me to think that someone could actually come up with something like that...
Granted the TITAN isn't the biggest, the baddest, or Toughest in your opinion- but all things considered, its a heck of truck- enough to have the big three consider it the new "benchmark." See how much the big three is going to worry when the New Titan hits the streets.

While I was examining it on the rack, I rapped my knuckles on the side of the frame rail under the cab. I tried that in several more places.
Try it if you can find an '06 4x4, the sound is interesting.

I like the Titan, it was No. 2 on my list, but I don't like the way it performs on that commercial.
Either way I love my Armada, can't find another SUV with more towing short of the 2500 series suburban with the 6.x L engine.

During the research (which you gotta do because obviously the sales people not only don't know what they are selling but will say anything to make the deal...) I went to several different Titan forums and read what owners had to say. The MAJORITY of them said that the Titan had major brake problems regardless of the year (even the new -07s)as well as some transmission issues. But the biggest problem were the brakes.
That made the decision easy for me. I was never impressed w/Dodge and I had a 2004 F150 that was crap, and will never buy another Ford truck (and that was my 7th and last Ford vehicle). Toyota was never even considered due to the fact that there simply is no room inside. I find both the Tundra and Tacoma too small and claustrophobic for my liking.
I also don't find the steering in my Chevy loose as another person had written. Actually, it is just the opposite.
I have only had the truck now for 4 months and I have about 4300 miles on it, and I have towed a horse trailer with it. I love my truck!!! So far, so good and I hope it remains like that.
During my research, I also found out that these Japanese vehicles (whether it is Toyota, Nissan or Honda) are indeed made here in America. Although, obviously, the profits return home to Japan.
The current titan is light years behind the Silverado, Sierra, Tundra. The new F150 is coming out along with a new Ram in 2009. I'm yet to see spy pics of the new Titan, until then it's more wishful thinking isn't it than reality. :confuse:

P.S. How much american content does that Titan have ?

When are you going to realize that if you stop backing a written warranty it is violation of federal law. If you produce a brand new vehicle that gets repaired over 20 times, that is not a quality product. If you release a vehicle with a brake defect, and than only provide 36 month, 36000 mile solutions versus life time solutions, you should be held accountable for your actions and decisions. If you get a vehicle with electronic issues, and hold it for 3 days, then say "unable to replicate", and the vehicle brakes down on the next use you should be held accountable. If you elect to try to get a customer to "trade in" a vehilce versus fixing the vehicle they already purchased you should be held accountable. If you state to your customer "all brakes on SUV/trucks judder, your vehicle has no problems," only to take a vehicle to a real professional and see the warped rotors than you should be held accountable. If you fail to reprogram the vehicle after replacing the computer, and then blame the customer you should be held accountable. If you fail to repair the brake system after 4 attempts of replacing the brake pads and rotors you should be held accoutable. If you fail to repair the electrical issues after 4 attempts, you should be held accountable. If your product leaves a customer stranded on more than one occasion, out of cell phone range, in the middle of no-where you should be held accountable. Bottomline, Nissan produced a defective product, would not fix it properly, lied and deceived me, broke federal law by not honoring a their own written warranty, and than tried to extort more money out of me!>
People that are researching vehicles should know of other experiences prior to the purchase of their next vehicle because the pruchase goes beyond features and price; especially when lives depend on the proper safety and fuctioning of vehicle and ethical dealings of the manufacturer and their independently owned franchises. Obviously, in my situation it was more than one dealership and numerious visits, so the problem is not an isolated incident. Which is the great thing about these forums, people can read the nightmare I had to go through with Nissan and weigh that in their decision prior to the purchase of the vehicle. Or like in your case, ignore all the unethical behavior and violation of law, and reliablity concerns and just say "that won't happen to me."
You can be upset and post about how Nissan has wronged you, I only ask that you post it 1 or 2 times per thread on here, not EVERY SINGLE POST.

By the way, if you've read any of my posts, you'd know I did in fact have the brake issues. At 3,000 miles on my 04 Armada the rotors were warped, Nissan replaced them under warranty with the upgraded rotors, pads and brackets. It has then been fine til I wore out the pads at 30k miles and at that time resurfaced the rotors which had pad deposits and new pads put on. Again under warranty, no questions asked.
I guess I'm just lucky. I also tow a 6,000lb boat trailer and will be towing a 9000lb boat trailer with confidence this summer with it. Again I must just be lucky with my 2004 as well as the 3 dealers I have delt with (1 the original selling dealer, and 2 different repairing dealer)

Anyway to answer your question as to what to replace it with, my vote would be the GMC/Chevy 1500 or 2500HD, they are my second favorit trucks out there. I'd get it with the Isuzu Diesel engine (Duramax) great engine and allison transmission.

Most definitely!
but to continue to rant about the samething over and over is like beating on a dead horse , or like argueing with a fence post ,it accompishes nothing just my 2 cents
Options, Nissan needs options for those who tow large amounts of tonnage and such. Again, they need to incorporate a Nissan Diesel capable of large towing capacity- for those who do not like the gas version.
Your discussion is off topic, in this Nissan versus Chevy forum. However, unfortunately, an extended warranty does not help a lemon vehicle, and you can't just ask for a new vehicle, lemon laws states you have to give the manufacturer multiple repair attempts, most states require 3 or 4 attempts in order to be ruled a lemon, for the same problem, in my case that occurred at 24000 miles.

I'm in this debate right now. Tomorrow I will see how the Armada tows the 9000lb Cigarette Boat I bought. If it doesn't tow it to my liking, then I'll be doing a hard comparison of the Armada to a Sierra 2500HD with Isuzu Diesel Engine....

Here's a blog entry I put up on Straightline last month on this engine.

The Armada towed the Cig Boat without a problem at 65mph on the NJTP and the GSP today about 25 miles or so. Very impressed felt lighter than the 22ft boat from last year in terms of sway.
