Moodguard, what kind of quotes are you getting for a Fit w/ automatic, but without navigation? I'm looking to buy one this weekend, and have been quoted 15,550 by overstock. Good? Is there room to negotiate with overstock typically?

I just graduated and this will be my first car, so I'm super excited and I would love any advice. Thanks!
  • moodgardmoodgard Member Posts: 37
    skybaker,

I don't know anything about overstock. Is the $15,550 inclusive of taxes, title, tags etc? What state are you in? Please give as much details about the car as possible, perhaps I or someone here can offer guidance.

Hi. I live in central NJ. I just purchased a new 2010 Honda Fit Sport. My total out the door price including tax, dealer prep etc is $18,000. I am getting $800 on my old car and transferring my old plates. My car is 13yrs old w/bad engine about to blow. Dealer is throwing in wheel locks. There were only three of this car on the lot. I haven't purchased a new car in years and being a woman I hope I got a new deal. It took time to get them down to this price. I got internet quotes from other dealers and they were all higher. I hope I got a good deal. Can anyone advise ASAP.

    Hi all
I want to buy a 2010 Honda fit sport in Tallahassee, FL with Automatic transmission and navigation system. What would be the reasonable price for this car before taxes and other standard expenses? Can somebody help me with this please?

    Thanks in advance

    I got a quote using TrueCar.com

    2010 fit base with auto:

$15435 + TTT = $16476.05 OTD. This is eastern NC - I think this is not too bad?
NC sales tax for vehicles = 3%

Anyone getting anything similar or lower than this?

    Thank you,
    Conny

Got an i'net quote for 18171 ($40 over invoice) incl dest and before "accessories and fees". Is that a good price in Virginia (West Broad Honda)? Should I pull trigger? Thanks, Ted. PS -- not yet sure if I can also get 0.9% 60 mo financing.

    Thanks in advances.

I went into a dealership today and was quoted 16,890 + taxes and other fees for a total of 17,560 on a FIT Sport w/ manual transmission and the standard equipment for the model. Taking in consideration that they offered 10,500 for my trade in I think this sounds like a good deal but I have seen lower prices from some others on this site. Any info on other dealerships in Texas that are going to be competitive? I'm looking to buy within a week or so as this particular dealership is waiting for the exact model/color/etc that I'm interested to arrive so I have some time to do some comparisons. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just bought a Honda FIT base automatic (no additional options) from Sport Honda in Silver Spring, Md. Out-the-door price was $16,853.83 - $200 for my trade in (a '98 Saturn SL1 w/ 152,000 miles on it). The breakdown was:

    14,997.63 base price
    750.00 destination charge
    89.00 processing fee
    938.20 sales tax
79.00 tags, registration, etc. (we transferred the tags from my trade in)

The internet sales specialist's price beat the other quotes I received and I appreciated the fact that there weren't any surprises (dealer installed options or miscellaneous fees) when I got to the dealership. He helped me switch my insurance over to the new car and personally transferred the tags from my old vehicle. All in all a pleasant buying experience and I'm happy with my new car and the price I paid. So I would definitely recommend Sport Honda in Silver Spring to anyone in the MD/DC area interested in a Honda FIT.

Last month purchased Honda Fit Base (automatic). OTD was 16,200. This is in Florida where taxes are double compared to NC. My experience was overall really good

    Hi,

today we were quoted 19.000 for the same car in Broward county,FL!
Do you mind disclosing the dealer-that would be absolutely awesome.

Did use their service department for some warranty work and also a oil change. Not a bad shop. Never bought a car from them yet, though we did buy an Olds Cutlass back in 1983 when they carried that brand. Heard they're a bit high on price. Ended up at Hollywood Honda back in '06 when I got my Civic LX.

2010 Honda Fit SPORT (Silver) AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

Traded in a beat up 01 Buick Century that ran decent, but had serious hail damage, etc. No dealer offered me more than 1k for the Buick. (153k miles) KBB Trade in Value for "Fair" condition (which is a stretch) = 600 bucks

14995 + Tax + Title + Liscence (Including trade and all dealer documentation/delivery fees). 15995 actual cost if you consider the value of the trade. I think good deal based on what I am seeing.

Financed the entire purchase + TTL @ 0.9% for 60 months.

Payment.... under 300 bones with zero out of pocket for fees, tax, title, licence, destination fees, or documentation fees.

Want help buying a Mazda Fit? Thinking I could make about 100 bucks a pop for the info and and still save you over a grand compared to what some people are paying for the same vehicle.

    Hello,
I recently asked a bunch of dealerships around the Boston area to send me quotes for 2010 Honda Fit Sport Auto (Red) , via Edmunds.com.

The best price till now is:
Car Price: 17,155 (400 below invoice)
    Tax 6.25 %: 1072
    Doc Fees: 299
    Registration: 125

    Total: 18,651.

Is that a good price ? Can I do better or ask for any free options ?

    Thanks

After further discussions with the dealer, I am getting a quote for 18,300 OTD.
Is that good enough ? Not sure if I should get a better bargain nowadays for a 2010 model.

    Thanks

I bought my 09 Fit Sport Auto from Honda Gallery in Reading, MA (15min from Boston) for 16,800 including all. Been a great car. Check them out, Honda Boston in Everett didn't want to go lower.
  • hpcarbuyerhpcarbuyer Member Posts: 3
    Thanks for your reply.
So is 16,800 for a used 2009 Fit Sport bought recently in 2010 or
for a new 2009 Fit Sport bought in Aug 2009?

Just want to do a apple-to-apple comparison. Thanks again!

I have an offer from a dealership for a 2010 honda fit sport for $18,600 OTD with .9 percent financing. I live in Georgia. Is this a good deal? Should I wait for the 2011 with the VSA system? Will the 2011 be much higher and without the great interest rate?

Just bought a 2010 Honda Fit Sport Automatic with 11 miles on the odometer, in Maryland.

16677.36 (Car and Freight) with wheellocks, floormats, door guard, strip decal?
    222 (Tag)
    100 (Processing)
    1006.64 (MD taxes)

    ----------------------------
    17,250 out the door.

    People, negotiate from OTD price!!!!!!!!!

    Wefit,

I live in MD and am close to deciding on a Fit, most likely the Sport Automatic.
Loved your total price, so I was going to ask if you can share info about the dealership. I have a quote that is a bit higher than what you shared.

But I am also confused. Your numbers add up to $18,000. Is there some $750 promotion that I am not aware of? Or am I missing something about the $750?

    Thanks.
  • wefitwefit Member Posts: 7
    Wefit here.

    Yeah your math is correct.

On paper, the 750 is treated as if it's coming out of my pocket, but the dealership is subsidizing that amount, making it 17250... Seems sketchy, I know.

Oh yeah. The dealership is Jim Coleman in Clarksville. If you're serious, you should hurry up since there are only 4 Fit Sports left (black, silver, orange, and blue (not tidewater blue)).

To save you time, I highly encourage you talk to Ravi and say that Victor (me) sent you here. This way the dealership knows exactly how much they need to adjust their pricing to get you to close the sale. I haggled over 2 hours...

You can charge upto 3k on your CC. Points?

    Hope that helps.
  • bpalegbpaleg Member Posts: 2
    Wefit,

Thanks, your response was very helpful.

I just drove home in a 2010 Fit Sport with the Nav system that had 13 miles. While I had no interest for the Nav system, I was getting the Fit for my wife, and wanted the traction control. Based on your numbers, I factored in an additional $1,750 for the Nav system, resulting in an OTD price of $19K, which following the wisdom in your signature is where I wanted to be.I spoke a few times with the folks that you mentioned, but their best OTD price was $20,200.

Another MD dealership in Rockville though determined that this was a fair price, so I got it for the desired OTD price of $19,000. Again, didn't really want the Nav system as my wife's Garmin and certainly my HTC Evo phone more than meets our GPS needs. If they couldn't work out the $19K, I probably would have waited for the 2011 line to see the new price of the Sport with the VSA included.

    So, thanks again.

Just bought a 2010 sport Fit for 16,790. I did Like the Fiesta better, but with 0.9% and Fords unwillingness to lower there price forced me to purchase the Fit, I saved 4,000 with the Fit. I did like the Ford's MPG better and the built quality was superior to the Honda

Maybe so, but in 100,000 miles the Honda will be a sure thing- and the Ford will be anything but. Congrats on making the right decision !

I'm also leaning towards getting a Fit again after my '07 Honda Sport 5speed manual sold for $7k and it has 115k miles. The best part is the car still drives like new.

Now, imagine what the resale value of the Ford Fiesta 4 1/2 years from now and 115k miles later?

If I stick to the plan, I can buy 3 Fits and the 4th one is free. ;)

""" I can buy 3 Fits and the 4th one is free."""

I like the way you think ! :shades: I wish this was true though because I'm on my 5th Honda since 2004.

I'm working my way through the entire Honda line up, having owned 3 Accord's, a FIT for a short time, and now a 2011 CR-Z. My Mom is on her 3rd Accord and my Dad has a Ridgeline.

The 2012 Civic SI coupe may be my next Honda - or perhaps the Civic hybrid since it's projected fuel economy for the 2012 hybrid model is 50MPG.

Anyhow - I'm glad you had such great luck with your FIT, although since it's a Honda I wouldn't call it luck ;)

Um.. Better ride, better, smoother engine, loads more power... Now, true, this is a full size car against a small economy car, but like I said, some domestic vehicles age very well and are not junk. oh - and the only thing that has stopped working is the cruise control.($40 fix but since I never use it...)

I just bought a 2010 Fit Sport at Jim Coleman Honda in Clarksville, MD for 17,400 OTD. I should have stuck to my 17,200, i think. But I still think its a decent deal. Thanks Wefit for your post! It helped me a lot.
  • ksmiles75ksmiles75 Member Posts: 2
    Hi Wefit,
Thanks for your post it helped me a lot. I started at 17,200 but then went up to 17,400 OTD to end the haggling. Do you still think its a good deal? Did you buy their President's club package?
    Thanks!
  • wefitwefit Member Posts: 7
    Hey ksmiles75,

Thanks for the rep. I think your deal is good, but do verify your contract to see if you are actually being billed for the right amount. When I was about to sign my paperwork, I spotted some shady practice where they added 750 addition our closed amount. I pointed that out and they quickly reworked the contract.

If you were able to get them to throw in some floor mats or trunk cover, then I'd say your deal was great!

All sales staff walked off angrily as I didn't purchase anything extra. A cheap subcompact car like the Fit is probably not worth buying extra packages for anyway...

What model year did you get?
  • heavypedalheavypedal Member Posts: 5
I have offers for the base Fit and the Fit Sport, as follows:

    Base model:
$15,818 (includes the addition of the center armrest and keyless entry)
$1851 (TTL, incl. S.F., CA sales tax of 9.5%)
    = $17,669 OTD

    Fit Sport:
    $17,068
    $1983 (TTL)
    = $19,051 OTD

Seems higher than other people have been posting, but the sales tax out here is probably higher than anywhere else in the country.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    d

Are you kidding me...for a Fit Sport? Jeez-Louise, they must be smoking crack or something at that dealership. There are so many better choices out there for that kinda $. It's a really small car and the seats hurt my spine terribly so I never considered it. My kid chose the Versa SL hatch over it for the superior ride & more inline price. Also the dash felt cheap compared to my '06 Civic as well as cramped behind the wheel. One could get a Civic LX-S for that same $ with change left over. True it's a larger, heavier car without the versatility of a hatchback, but that amount of $ leaves me speechless.

Good luck if you do purchase one, but please try to get the price down!

I highly recommend DCH Academy Honda - the quote I've got from them via e-mail was the lowest (about $200 below invoice) and their document fee is one of the lowest amonth the dealerships I've contacted.
Unlike other sales people, Stephanie (internet manager) from DCH Academy Honda offered very low price up front and e-mailed full quote including all fees.

    Other recommended dealerships:

    Dealerships to avoid:
    1) Planet Honda - they refuse to give full quote over the phone (provide base price, but won't tell you what their document fee is and what other fees they will charge.

    2) Open Road Honda - very high document fee ($398)

    I got a quote from a dealer.
    OTD Price is: $18371.38
    - Internet quote: $15905
    - destination charge: $750
    - documentation fee: $154.38
    - registration: $25
    - tax: $1343 (7.5%)
    - license/title: $149

This price seems a little higher comparing to what other posters paid for their FIT sport.
After I read the posts here, I found that most people didn't get charged for destination and doc fee. I was wondering if the quote I got is a good price and any way to get rid of that destination and doc fees?

I want to buy the car before end of this month. Your prompt feedback is very appreciated.

    Thanks!!

    Hi All,

Just received an email from ZAG that the Honda Dealership in Riverside is clearing their remaining inventory of 2010 Fit Sport 5 speed manuals: "Honda Fit $2,000 below invoice including incentives... Your price drop may be due to the introduction or increase of manufacturer incentives, which are subject to change and/or expiration.".

Don't know if this applies to the other Fit models but, when I went to the ZAG website, it indicates it does and shows the dealership as the lowest priced in the country for the Fit.

Hope this can help someone out on this forum... if it does let us know and good luck.

I just bought an '09 Fit Sport AT private party for $13k (which I feel is a pretty good deal considering the 27,000 miles). Anyway, after the sale he remembered he had the Honda Care ext warranty and offered to let me buy the remainder of his warranty. Does $700 plus the $50 transfer fee sound reasonable to you (assuming 8yr, 120k miles)? I did a bit of research and it seems like this might be a bit high, but I wanted opinions. I've read over the H.C. policy and I get the arguments that Ext Warranties on Hondas are silly due to their reliability. One thing I am considering though is that the '09 was the first year of the new body style and that can some times mean kinks to work out...

AFTER the sale, he remembered he had the Honda Care ext warranty? My guess, he just didn't want to include it, & he can get back some or much of what he paid if he cancels.

Anyway, $750 for an ext warranty on a $13K car? That's 17.33% of your purchase price. Personally, I'd keep the $750 to put towards maintenence like oil changes, brakes, etc........

You're off on the math. $750 on a $13,000 purchase is only 5.8%.
