It's not about the extra horsepowers, you get what you buy and can't always wait for faster and better. However, if they roll out a G37 sedan and stop the production of G35 sedan in 08, the resell value of the car would be down to nothing.
I don't think BMW did that. The sedan model was couple years already then they roll out the new engine...
For the time being however, I'm enjoying the heck out of my G right now, a blast to drive every time I get in it. There will always be aftermarket products also that sure can increase hP.
Either way, I think I'm waiting for the 2008 model. If they up the engine, great. If not, I sure I'll be more than satisfied. But that engine upgrade will be in place within a couple of years, if not for 2008 definitely. But like someone said earlier, you have to jump in sometime.
And in the meantime, I'll wave to all the folks waiting on the sidelines, as I go zooming by.
I love my G and it was so worth the wait.
The variable steering ratio is fantastic!

From my understanding, the G35 is the only car that has a 4 wheel active steer system, I've heard BMW's active steer is mechanical and not 4 wheels. The M45 only has rear wheel active steer.
I also love the blue slate, new color for this year so not to many out there yet and the trim tends to stand out in it. however,it also tends to look rather BLAH, on cloudy days but will be easier to keep looking clean for a longer period of time than the black.
The liq. plat. was a third option. no offense to anyone out there with it but everyone out here in my area with a coupe or 06 prior sedan seems to have that color. I got two neighbors with a liq. plat. coupe.
Right know i'm leaning for the slate but wanted to check with some of the black obs. owners how difficult has it been to keep the car looking new. I guess it all depends on how much care and time one puts into it. Dont think I can go wrong with either color.
Stunning when it's spotless, not so stunning when it's not.
I just picked up my Blue Slate.
I saw it online, saw it in pics, and saw it at the dealer.
I was also on the Liq Platinum fence.
It reminded me of an Altima too much.
The Slate is awesome.
Like you said, it's just nice on cloudy days, but in the sun, it's absolutely amazing.
It changes color as the angle changes.
I love it!
Good luck with your decision.
The color thing stumped me for a long time as well.
Black can take a lot more dust and mild dirt then most give it credit for, and nothing at all cleans up like black. so there's a trade off, but I am a tiny bit disappointed in the actual black paint used, it's a little too flat and I wish they would have done a metallic black.
I traded a very dark Lexus in on my 07 G35x and I bought the Pearl white. There is absolutely no way that I would ever go with another dark color! Before the Lexus I had an Avalon in Pearl White & loved it. I regretted getting the dark Lexus - it looked great but then the constant cleaning started...what a horrible experience.
If you don't mind washing/waxing a lot, you'll probably get plenty of exercise. If you do mind it, you may regret it getting that color. At any rate, good luck!
So I got my tint job done at a place called Sun Shield Glass Tinting in Sherman Oaks - 4704 Van Nuys Blvd Sherman Oaks, CA 91403 - TEL - 8189068468, its right next to the 101 freeway. It was recommended by a friend. Did a great job for $155.00 out the door. I thought this was cheap and got a little worried about the quality, but from seeing the star pictures on the wall giving their thanks to the place (people like Frankie Muniz malcom in the middle dude) who I know is a car freak made me feel better. Also the BMW M6 that was getting done ahead of me made me feel better, I talked to the M6 owner and he said that he'd been coming there for 20 years. Also they main dude there Jose said don't worry we do almost all the dealerships down on Van Nuys Blvd, including Nissan and Infiniti.
I would recommend the place and the price is nice. I think it turned out great! By the way I got a black G35 so tint was a must to make it look proper!
I went with it because I wanted black, and even knowing this, it's still my choice of color. There are not a lot of colors to choose from and having had a few gray cars I did not one of the three gray variants (LP, PG, BS) and I didn't want the sand or red color. my decision was either black or white and I chose Black. I'm happy with my choice, but I could see how those on the fence about going with black, should NOT, you may be disappointed in the Infiniti black.

- Prefered to stay away from dark color because of how dark colors show dirt and scratches. Although my second choice probably would have been the blue slate. The PG is pretty good with not showing the dirt.
- I went with the Sport model and was going for a sportier look, and I think the PG fits the bill.
- Personally, I'm not crazy about lots of chrome, andthe lighter colors don't make the chrome stand out as much as a dark color.
- it was a different color than I've had before.
- it's a new color for 07.
I ended up with the Slate because when I looked the PG, I was instantly reminded of my friend's Altima, which was very similar in color.
And I hear Evvvvvvvv-errrrr-ryyyyyyy Thing
:P :P :P
Someone asked me if I had run into that in our discussions. I don't know where the question came from to begin with. My reply was that if the G35 folks had heard of this, I'd know it, and I've never heard this. So I was asked to check with you since you guys, as Scott said, hear Evvvvvvvv-errrrr-ryyyyyyy Thing.
The FCC Number for the G35 is KBRTN001 and for the M isKR55WK48903.
Please help....
Car must be in park with the parking brake set.
Congrats on the car.
I picked up my G35x Prem/Nav/Tech/Rosewood last Tuesday and the smile has not left my face since.
Awesome car... and welcome to the forums.
When is the right time to downshift or upshift to speed up quickly or slow down? Is it all a matter of timing. Even when I downshift to speed up (i.e. 4th gear at 50mph, downshift, and speed up at higher RPM), it doesn't feel very fast. Maybe it takes experience with a real manual shift/clutch to better get a grasp on this.
My question - what RPMs does yours run at at 60 or 70? For instance, mine runs at 3,000 @ 60mph, which to me seems preposterous, as if it's running in 3rd or 4th gear.
I want to know if these all do this, or is me car broken?
Thanks all!
dvd
Probably didn't ans your question, but what is the question anyway? :confuse: lol.
Here's what I do
1st gear is zero to 40mph, only down shift to 1st if less then 20mph.
2nd gear is 40-60mph, downshift if between 20-50mph.
3rd gear is 60-above legal limit, downshift if 50-75MPH.
4th and 5th gear are only after you've reached speed and want to drop RPM. 5th gear is for cruizing and track use only don't ever use 5th for performance acceleration.
Hope that helps, those are the ranges you will get the greatest acceleration. if your doing 60 on the highway and want to pass, drop to 3rd, shift ti 4th at redline or after pass.
This can also occur in an automatic, if you don't give the car enough gas to cause it to downshift when necessary.
I say this based on my own experiences between 5 speeds in the past and a 6 speed today, although with a different brand.
Any insights on Infiniti upgrading their automatic transmissions?
Thanks
Bruce
