Anybody found any performance parts for the 2006 Eclipse GT yet? Other than a K&N filter (same part # as for 04-05 Mitsu Endeavor), I haven't had any luck yet. I'd really like to be turning at least 300hp. If anybody has found upgrade parts for the car, would you point me in the right direction?

Are you familiar with any East Coast Mitsubishi specialists? I have an Outlander I would like to boost a little.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
No but the West Coast guy might have ideas and may be able to ship you stuff. For the Outlander, you could start with a ram intake and a cat-back special exhaust system. This might bump you 15 HP or so, maybe a little more if you're lucky but it should give you that at least.

I recently bought a 95 3000GT SL and since i barely ever see these cars around, I've recieved no advice on what is most worth doing to the car for my money. I would like to increase its performance so I was thinking about a cold air intake ect...what would you guys reccomend? Thanks a lot
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Yeah if you found a decent CAI you might get up to 3-8HP for $200/$300.

If you can get a larger throttle body plate that might give you 5 HP for $300---if you can find one for your car---might be tough.

An exhaust header pipe would give you maybe 2HP, or 3 HP.

A free flow muffler (cat-back) might give you 1 or 2 HP.

That's about it for the "cheap" stuff...figure 10 to 20 HP for $1,000. That's not too bad.

Otherwise you need to pretty much start taking apart the engine and spending lots of $$. At that point with a car like yours, you might consider just investing in a faster car, because your 3000 has a big weight problem, which is a tough issue to solve.

    Outlander Parts -

    You might try JACOS

Also try some local tuner shops that specialize in JDM parts. They should be able to get you anything in the Japanese Ralliart catalog.

    '06 DSM

Its a chicken before the egg kind of thing. Currently I think AEM has a cold-air intake and I think Greddy might have an exhaust but so far that's pretty much it, short of adding nitrous.

Greddy's turbo kit they showed at SEMA was said to be very close to production. So I'd say start calling and e-mailing them for it.

    Dear 06eclipse owner,

Beside the K&N upgrade, Razzi has a bodykit for this model. Progressive and Tanabe will be coming out next month with lowering spring kits and Tanabe has a medallion exhaust kit on the way to. STRperformance has an assault bodykit for this car. Venom is working on a nitrous kit for the GT model should be out in a few months. Hope this give you some ideas.

Hi everyone, I have to 3000GT SL automatic. Everything is generally running fine, but the automatic transmission is in bad shape. I just recently bought a used japanese tranny and got it professionally installed. But even after they put the 2 sensors in the correct place, the tranny is still in limp mode. Which means it doesnt shift at all, and its always on 3rd gear.
I need help to figure out the wiring for 3 wires (coming out of the tranny). Its a for a sensor, and the 3 lines were cut. So I need to know which goes where because the colors don't match. Its black, green/yellow, and green/black. The new colors are black, green, blue.
    Can someone help me? :(
If you can compare the colors and the order of the lines coming from the tranny (left to right).

I recently bought a 3000 and want to buy lowering springs for it. But it came with the option ECS, I wanted to know if the springs will effect the ECS, or if i will just have to buy a complete coil over package?

I just installed a Magnaflow Catback exhaust yesterday on my 2003 lancer oz. At first you can't really hear much of a difference but once it warms up it growls. I love it, it's a nice low sound and not so loud like the huge dc sports exhaust.

Hey bro i just got a HKS 170mm Muffler Ti highflow exhaust put on my 04 Ralliart and it sounds mean i took it to a muffler shop and asked for 2.5" piping going back from the converter and they cut out the resinator and it sounds really good its cheaper too i think its a good way for u to go.

    Hello,

I'm planning on purchasing an Eclipse GT in the US, due to the very favourable exchange rate (roughly $8,000 CDN savings after accounting for the GST requirement at the border, plus customs levies); but apparently the US model doesn't meet Canadian bumper requirements (the intercooler can be damaged in an 8 km/h impact); does anyone know the approximate cost I'd be facing to bring the vehicle in line w/ Canadian bumper requirements?

Check out the Importing Car into Canada from US discussion while waiting for responses to your bumper question. Especially the warranty posts.

Hi everyone! I'm new here so i'm kinda still learning the ropes. I have an '03 Eclipse GTS and am thinking about putting in a K&N air filter. Will it increase the performance of the car? Thanks for any input.

i own a 2006 eclipse gs and was wondering if any one has come across a bolt-on kit yet, or if you have heard of any developments of a turbo kit. my car is set up for a turbo and ready to go. its just a matter of time now.

Hi. I have a 1996 3000GT non-turbo. I would like to add a twin turbo sytem to it and was wondering what i would have to do to the engine(if anything) so it could handle the turbos. Also what a good site for Turbos.

i've been considering throwing a Venom 400 chip in my new baby, basically looking for a relatively cheap upgrade with maximimum horsepower, any suggestions? and is $299 a good price for it?

I would go out and buy a 6G72DETT from a used jdm engine supplier along with the tranny and ecm.. It would be probally the cheapest way to add a turbo charger to your car.

I have a 96 3000GT with a strong engine and new trans but would like to get a little better throttle response/initial acceleration. Are there any easy relatively inexpensive modifications that could accomplish this? K&N filter?, cold air induction, cat back exhaust etc. Will any of these make any noticeable changes? Thanks
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
RAM air, rather than cold air, might give you better throttle response on the low end. A K&N does nothing but make noise unless that's coupled with intake mods of some kind.

I'm not sure about a larger throttle body. I hear all kinds of conflicting data on that...
  • tbone45tbone45 Member Posts: 2
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
Actually a K&N will give you better throttle response and combined with a CAI will also help. Horsepower gains on the other hand are better accomplished through CAI + K&N + Exhaust modifications. Essentially you are allowing it to breathe and exhaust air and fuel faster and therefore increase your HP, if you only do half the equation you will only gain in throttle response.

As for RamAir, that is not something easily or cheaply accomplished in the aftermarket and essentially doesn't really help a whole lot in terms of HP. Forced induction (Supercharging or Turbo) gives significant HP gains but are very expensive to do correctly and often involves a lot of modifications to the motor, cooling system oil system and sometimes the body of the car itself.

I bought a set of projector/halo lights from an ebay seller named "assembleweb" and they are really great. With about 5 minutes of grinding work with my dremel tool, they also adapted to my HID bulbs and look super.

Don't know if he has them in black, as mine are chrome, but you can search ebay and see. There are lots of sellers of lights there, but this guy shipped fast and the quality is excellent. They have been in my car for a couple of months and I have had no problems with moisture or anything else.

Does anyone know of a short throw shifter that works with the 06 Eclipse GT 6 speed?

There are a lot of arguements for and against this product by actual users of it, but if you read the instructions and look critically at the wiring diagram you see that basically this thing just fools the ecu into a wide open throttle mode. It may "feel" good, but doesn't really do much.
