I have been trying to get an answer. I have been shopping for an LE in Platinum Graphite with Beige leather and no one seems to have it they all have black leather. One dealer said Nissan is not going to offer that combo in 2010 but then he tried to sell me something he already has so I don't know whether or not to believe him. I wish they would expand on the "Simplified exterior and interior color combinations " and say what that really means. My hope is they won't change this but I can't find anywhere that clarifies it further. If anyone has the answer to this I would appreciate it.

Can anyone guess how much more a 2010 Murano might be compared to a 2009? How have the prices been in the past for each new revision of the Murano? I would by a 2009 version, but color choice is limited so I don't know if it makes sense to get a color I don't want when in a month the 2010 will be out and available in wider color selection. TIA

If color choice is important then wait. Whatever the cost increase, you won't be happy saving a few hundred dollars on a car you dislike. There a several other choices of cars every bit as nice as the murano. Some are thousands less. You could check out 09's and see if any meet your needs. My 09 sl is nice but I could be happy in a number of other vehicles.

We have owned several vehicles over the years. MDX, Pilots, and American cars. The best so far has been the Murano SL. Wow! what a vehicle. What a pleasure it is to daily start the vehicle up and drive it down the road. We have had the 09 for about 4 months now. Life is so nice with good design. Thank you Japanese!!!

I haven't got the car yet...it's coming in 1 week time.

I test drove it in "D" mode only....but saw the gear can be shifted/changed manually. Has anyone tried it? Does anyone use it under normal driving? Or is it just a gimmick that people dont really use and dont really need?

Was wondering if using it would be more fuel efficient and more fun!?
Any one who had good experience with using it, please give me some insight on how to do it smoothly and how NOT to **** up the gear....would much appreciate.

This question came into mind today....I believe 99% of murano owners dont use that function......but worth a ask.

Probably only used during offroad/sand driving?! am i rite?

    THanks for all inputs!
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
CVT transmission --- don't know what manual shift capability your murano has but mine has a standard shift box. Move the selector up and down. Just keep it in drive and use the accelerator pedal. Read the owners guide for questions re the trans use.
  • lovepublovepub Member Posts: 11
yeah....usually we put it in "D"...but if u push the gear knob to right...
then u can push it up and down to gear up and down...
That's my question....what does it do?...when should it come in handy?
  • tspaventatspaventa Member Posts: 18
Now, you all have me scratching my head on this as well. I have an 09 LE and I don't even know if it has this capability. The LE has pretty much everything available, but I never looked for this or noticed this. I'll have to take a look at it on my lunch break. I'll be back later with my findings!
  • lovepublovepub Member Posts: 11
Beside the "D", if push to the right, there would be a "+" and "-"

I am in Australia.....we only have two model "ST" and "TI" which both have this.
I dont think US should be any different on this part.

Just very curious.... the sales told me I can put it in that mode and shift the gears myself UP and DOWN....like driving a Daytona.

    No one experienced that?

WOW...wait...i just went online to check some of the photos...

I had been driving my new 09 Murano SL (Premium, Leather, 360 value package) for two weeks now.. I like almost everything about the new murano and love driving it except for one thing. It DOESN'T have an automatic on/off headlights. My old car was a Corolla VE(1999) with everything manual (manual transmission, manual windows) and the only thing automatic on that base model corolla was the automatic headlights :) ">. I am so used to the automatic headlights and i drove my new Murano with out headlights on ;) and worse i realized it only after driving 5-6 miles.. Wondering why they couldnt make it a standard on atleast from SL and above..
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
If you opt for the tech package then you get the auto headlights. You didn't--I didn't and now we are stuck with one more thing in our lives that we have to remember to do. What a BUMMER !!!!!
  • tspaventatspaventa Member Posts: 18
I can confirm my 2009 LE does NOT have a manual shifting option
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
None of them have them. I was a bogus post.
  • lovepublovepub Member Posts: 11
I guess Australia version is different to the US ....

Well...i guess i'll have to figure it out after i get it next week. :)
  • dallasmuranodallasmurano Member Posts: 5
Even i dont see that in my Murano SL.. But my friends Altima has the manual gear option
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
You don't see it because it doesn't exist. You can go in and out of overdrive and other than shifting in and out of low -- that's it.
  • andremikeandremike Member Posts: 67
We just bought a 2009 Murano SL AWD 360, black on black... It replaced our 2006 Murano. We are struggling with the fact that the cargo space is 16 cubic feet smaller then our 2006 was... Why would Nissan do this? Should I bring the car back? Am I over reacting? Its hard to believ that the Murano has as much cargo room as the Rogue and the Honda CRV has more cargo room. They should of got rid of that stupid storage area under the trunk mat and made the trunk deeper.
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
Unless nissan has a 30-60 day return policy you can't take it back. You might be able to trade on something with more storage but it will cost you big. Consider it a lesson learned and move on. Next time get a minivan. Check cargo volume on your next car. Still a nice car -- just carries less.
  • tspaventatspaventa Member Posts: 18
Are you sure its 16 or 1.6???? I remember comparing spec vs spec on every inch of this car before I bought it (I too turned in my 2006 for a 2009 black on black) and I seem to recall losing only 1 cuft. I still have the specs from both in my filing cabinet at home. I'm going to check it tonight and get back to you.
  • ironjeffironjeff Member Posts: 20
What do you get in an LE that you can't get in a fully loaded SL?

I think I read the headlights are different? Auto-dimming mirror? That cargo organizer?

    Thanks in advance.
  • andremikeandremike Member Posts: 67
positive it 16cuft. It went from 81 to 64... I guess thats 17.... You can even compare it on Edmunds if you compare 2 used cars.. There are reviews that talk about this as well. Do you have a family? Do you travel alot?

That spec is probably difficult to notice becasue it only effects the rear roof line. they sloped the rear window and cut the roof line to create the larger slope on the hatch. I guess this creates better aerodynamics. You would of thought they extend the car a couple of inches to create the slope or drop the trunk floor to gain more room. I never use that stupid organizer anyway. I guess we will keep the car, but I hope I don't miss the lack of cargo space when we travel. A couple of times I had to fill the trunk to the ceiling..
  • loachloach Member Posts: 246
Ummm......best time to research specs is before you buy a car. No point in agonizing about it now - you are stuck with it. A buyer's lack of due diligence is not the dealer's or manufacturer's fault.
  • tspaventatspaventa Member Posts: 18
You are correct. I'm looking at my book right now. Before the purchase, I only compared the cargo with the sets UP, not DOWN. I always have 2 kids in the back seat so cargo with the seats down isn't even a concern with me. However, I just don't think fixating on the cargo space available in a Murano should have made the top of your list of things to get frustrated over. If carrying cargo is a big concern, there are plenty of other vehicles that should have made your list. Even in our 2006 its not like we could get a lot of stuff in there. We have weekend trips to the beach and the mountains pretty regularly. We fit our stuff (with the seats up) and we're all still comfortable. If you can, just try to keep focusing on how stylish, well-equipped and safe the car is! The hard drive is probably one of my most favorite things in the whole world, followed closely by the bluetooth. Also, I had a bad accident in my 2006 (hit by a careless teenager) and I walked away from the accident -- even though the car needed $13,000 in repairs that took 2 months to complete. LOVING my murano!!!

tspaventa - i totally appreciate your perspective. i have to say that for someone in a different life situation (40s, into outdoor sports/ active, no kids, LOVE OUR dogs...tote firiends when they deserve it :) ) - this is an ideal vehicle. the space for the back seat if needed (or if not) is fantastic.

the space is very conformative - but yes, if you have kids, you may not have made a well-informed decision. i guess it is a lesson learned, bc you are hard pressed to "return" a car b/c you didn't understand clearly stated specs.

good luck, and i hope you can figure out how to love your murano! it's worth loving!!!
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
If space is a problem--leave one of the kids with grandma next vacation. Really cuts down on the bickering.
  • tspaventatspaventa Member Posts: 18
I wasn't the one complaining about the lack of space. I'm the one who totally loves my murano. There's enough space for us, the kids and all of our/their crap for weekend trips to the beach and the mountains. I love this so much I turned in a 2006 at the end of the lease for a 2009. No regrets.

I am looking toget a new suv and the Murano 2010 looks very appealing...but after reading all the problems with transmissions on these forums I wonder if it will be a good decision..how you guys feel about those posts with problems with transfer cases?....are those past problems of previous years?.....has those tranny issues been addressed by Nissan?...or are they still lingiring out there?.....if any one has nay reassuring advises please let me kave it becaise I really like this Murano but those past problems are a concern specially if I keep the car 5 years or more.....thank and enjoy your Muranos in the best of health...
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
Not too many problems posted 2007 and up. Wouldn't be afraid of an 09 or 2010. The power train warranty will cover you for 5 years anyway.

I just purchased a Super Black SL with black roof rails. I really like the silver accents on the roof rails on the LE. I think it ties nicely with the silver accent along the bottom.

Does anyone know if there is a kit that can be purchased to add the silver accents to the black roof rails?

If not, does anyone know what the cost would be (if it is even reasonably possible) to switch the black roof rails to the silver accented roof rails?

My Googling has turned up nothing. Thanks much.
  • ukkoukko Member Posts: 23
I have got the 2009 TL. The LE still seems to have problems with tire vibrations.

So far there have been no problems. The vehicle drives very responsive and the transmission is smooth. There are no shifting jerks. We took it on a longer trip in August and the ride and XM radio made the trip very comfortable. The vehicle is quiet compared to our previous Honda Pilot. Generally, I think the vehicle is well designed.

    Cheers

Hi, I'm trying to find information out, I have a 2010 Maxima SV with the Bose Audio and if your sitting in the front seats the sound experience is wonderful; however, if sitting in the backseats the experience is the total opposite; there are four speakers in the rear, one on each rear door and two big speakers in the back window housing; low audio comes out of the speakers on the rear doors and absolutely no audio/sound comes out of the two speakers in the rear window housing

as a result, if sitting in the back the audio sounds low and distant because there is virtually little audio/sound coming out of the rear speakers, none of which is from the two speakers closest to the rear passengers head in the rear window housing

the murano has the same bose audio set up as the maxima and altima, 5 speakers in the front and four in the back; does anyone who has the bose audio have the same issues as I do with the rear seat audio experience? Nissan tells me the rear window speakers are only for bass and no sound but I just can't believe it because when sitting in the back seat you can barely hear any audio and I've never had a car like this before, I want to make sure this is indeed the bose setup or if there is something electrically wrong with my car

any information, opinions, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

...first, I don't have a Murano yet..just looking to get one in the next 5 months. I am not trying to be funny but did you check the balance and fade features of the Bose system?...for that matter these functions are for just about any radio..some times the simplest things go undetected and maybe that is the proble,,just my 2 cents and good luck to you
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
The settings are in the function screen in the dash.
  • smarty666smarty666 Member Posts: 1,503
I've played around with all the functions, bass, tone, center, balance, etc and there is no audio coming out of the speakers in the rear window housing, if I switch the center to rear completely the radio goes hush quiet and you hear it just mildly coming out of the speakers on the rear door only

I'm going to have to speak with a Nissan product specialist about this issue; even if this is the way the Bose system is suppose to work I'm going to recommend they changed it

The funny thing though is I had a FX35 before this maxima and it had the exact same Bose setup as the maxima and I never had any of these issues with music quality when sitting in the rear of the vehicle; all the front speakers seem to work fine and experience is just wonderful, but it only changes once you sit in the backseats since only two of the four speakers they have back there is producing any kind of audio sound

I bet you the product specialist will tell me that the rear speakers are for Bass only; if that is the case, then how does that make sense to have the Bass up in the rear housing by the rear passengers head and the audio down in the speakers in the rear doors by their feet? every other car I've ever had there was audio/sound coming out of the speakers in the rear window
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
Intermittent problems are tough to solve. Since yours always occurs--shouldn't be too much of a problem to fix. Some electical / connection problem seems likely. Mine works fine. Go to another murano on the lot and check out the radio. Use that as the example -- make it sound like that one , please.

For those that haven't seen it yet, I received a letter from Nissan saying that they are extending the warranty on the CVT transmission to 10 years, 120,000 miles. They are also lowering the cost on CVT repairs/replacements and will reimburse anything paid for out of pocket.
  • tidestertidester Member Posts: 10,059
There's been some discussion of that in a few places here such as Nissan Murano CVT Transmission. I am sure people following that topic would be glad to hear from you. :)

I bought 2009 Murano SL 3 months ago, could not be able to adjust the driver seat.
It is very uncomfortable and no way to level it, it seems like cutting circulation in my right leg (I am 5.7 and 178 pounds), finally I had to remove the cheap foam from front edge of the seat and replace with memory foam. I paid 35000 for the car. If I would know ahead - I would never buy this car.

While you're waiting for a reply here, you may want to have a look at Nissan Murano Power Seat Problem.

In the past, myself and others have mentioned a whistling or vibrating sound. I resolved this a couple of months ago and thought I would share my solution.

The whistlning/vibrating sound occurred when I reached 60 mph or so.

The sound was actually coming from the base of the roof rack. I noticed that the base of the roof rack was actually loose. I told the Nissan Service department and they said they had to re-order that part.

Ever since the new base was installed, issue resolved!

    Btw, I have a 2009 Murano.

New and happy owner of the 2010 SL with all the toys.

Does anyone know the max capacity for the CF memory card, and if I pop off the blank in the dashboard, is there a CF reader back there? They couldn't use SD memory when designing this? Any way to convert?

Also, the million dollar question: what's the best way to get the video to play while moving? Is the lockout driven by the speed sensor, emergency brake, or gear shift? Anyone?

Anyone have tips on how to access the Bose system to add better/additional subs? Front Tweeters as weak also--a little disappointing for the money and from Bose.

I was told the music box can only take "store bought" cds--I assume they meant wav. files. Do I need to convert all my mp3s to wav to get them loaded--or am I stuck playing MP3s from the disc player. Is there a direct hack into the drive space used in the music box?

Sitting still-- I understand the DVD will play, will it play any other formats? DivX Mpeg4 etc?

If down the road I find I can't live without the 20" wheels, is it as simple as unscrewing the old ones and adding the 20", or is there a suspension geometry issue?

Same question for the xenon lights, just a plug in--or is the wiring harness different?

I appreciate the forum, and have scanned enough to see there are power users here--specific thanks there as you shaped my decision to buy.

    hey bigdog1231,

It certainly is a nice toy. Share your buying experience and which area you bought it in. In live in the tri state area and got the same car. The stereo is actually great you need to access the audio menu to set the bass & tremble to the max to get the system's maximum benefit. I guess you did not get the sunroof or tech package? Although the DVD sounds nice is it the overhead?

I have a question re: color of plastic inside rear hatch cover and side panels. I have black leather and headliner and A-pillar post color is grey fabric. But the rear hatch interior piece and the rear interior side panels are tan/beige! Looks strange..they should be grey in my opinion.
Anybody else with black leather interior have the same color issue or is mine a factory screw-up? Outside color is platinum graphite. Thanks.
  • ukkoukko Member Posts: 23
I have the 2009 with black leather and the interior panels are all the same black or dark gray. Your tan panels sound weird to me. I would consider the change in various tone values in the panels as a mistake.
  • tspaventatspaventa Member Posts: 18
I have an 09 LE, super black murano with black interior. Anything that isn't black is grey in my car. I'm thinking the tan thing must be a mistake.
  • subdensubden Member Posts: 40
Thanks much to you and ukko. That confirms they do make grey panels. I'm thinking it is an early 2010 production screw-up. I found a 2010 S model with black cloth on the lot yesterday and it had tan panels too. I'll approach the dealer.
Anybody out there with a 2010?
  • cutco760cutco760 Member Posts: 63
    Hey,

I have a platinum with black leather. All interior panels are dark grey panels. However, my 2007 was grey panels all around except for the back which was a tan color as well. So it is not out of the ordinary. I do understad your frustration. It should be all in one color.
  • subdensubden Member Posts: 40
    Thanks. Is yours a 2010 or 2009?
