I leased an EX35 RWD Journey for 24 months in March due to that great money factor. I thought they had raised it, but it looks like it's back. It's a great deal, so if you needed a nudge to get into an EX35, there you go...

Hi puppyhead. Infiniti is providing lease support on the EX right now. Its lease program varies by term and mileage allowance. You never mentioned what either of these variables are in your post, so for now I will assume that you are interested in a 36 month lease with 15,000 miles per year. Let me know if you want something different. Infiniti Financial Services' current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2008 Infiniti EX35 AWD with 15,000 miles per year are .00101 and 57%, respectively.

I just got an EX35 AWD Journey lease offer:
    Premium Package
    Navigation
    Wood interior
    Roofrack, cargo protector, etc.
    10K miles/year
for $388.78 a month for 24 months with $4057.51 TOTAL out of pocket--that INCLUDES about 2k downpayment. Is this any good? The salesguy i'm talking to says its incredible, of course...

    thanks in advance!

Here is my deal in S.Fla., on Journey, rwd, premium pkg, nav pkg, cargo protection, splash guards. 24mo 12m miles TT&L plus first mo, total $ out of pocket $800.
    $41575 MSRP. Edmund invoice $38016
    paid $37103.25 Residual value 25310.25 Money factor.0001
    payment $492 plus FL 6% tax= $521

Money factor is not misprint. Interest was $15 total for 24mo. (62 cents a month).
It seems to me that one should put down as little as possible and finance as much as possible at that interest rate.

Does anyone have all the numbers for May on the EX ... I'm now looking into this vehicle and may try to do something by the end of the month, but can't find rates for May anywhere!

    Thanks in advance ...

Whats the Sale price, MSRP, MF and the Residual? Any bogus fees?
Spending 4k at drive-off isn't exactly what most veteran lesses call a "good deal" or "incredible" according to the sales guy.
When you play the monthly payment game with sales people, you lose.
Use the following lease formula to calculate your lease.
Generally, I recommend people to pay the 1st mo payment, acq/bank fee, doc fee, dmv and tire tax up front. Should be around $1300-$1400 due at signing. Then negotiate the sale price down as much as you can...invoice or less ideally.
You can use an Excel Lease Calculator I made to figure out what your payments should be.

what dealership did you go to?
does anyone have the residuals and money factors for May?

This is the offer i got from a dealer
EX 35 with premium and Navi
    MSRP: $41,500
    Cap Cost: $36,800
    Residual: 54%
    39 month Lease
$1600 out of pocket - includes fees and first month
    Monthly: $450 with tax (NJ)
I think the money factor is 0.00076
  • wongtommwongtomm Member Posts: 2
This is the offer I get from the dealer in LA:

    EX35 Journey 2WD
    39 month lease
    $600 drive out
    $400/month + tax

It sounds attractive when I was at the dealership but is it?
  • CarMan@EdmundsCarMan@Edmunds Member Posts: 38,514
Hi wongtomm. In my opinion, the best way to get a good deal on a leased vehicle is to negotiate the selling price of the truck that you want first, and then have the dealer calculate your monthly payment using its buy rate lease money factor. The selling prices of leased vehicles are negotiable, just as if you were paying cash for or financing them. Without knowing that this EX's selling price is, you don't know how much of a discount you are being given on it. Find out what this number is. If it's not close to dealer invoice, do some additional negotiating with this dealer, or shop around with a few others.

Once you have arrived at a selling price that you are happy with, have the dealer that quoted you it calculate your EX's monthly payment using its buy rate lease money factor. Infiniti Financial Services' current buy rate for a 39 month lease of an '08 EX35 2WD (non-Journey) is .00056.

I agree with finalizing the real purchase price and basing lease numbers from that price. I just picked up the following-
    EX35 Journey AWD
    Nav
    Premium
    Lux
    Roof rack and cross bars
    Sticker price $44k
    24 month lease is $395
Cap reduction pymt upfront was $1,500.
Total upfront including cap reduction and all taxes (NY), DMV, etc was $3,500.
  • dilbert2dilbert2 Member Posts: 3
    kjkii-
Looks like you got a great deal. What was the sale price to get that low a payment. I looked at an EX over the weekend, but I'm not putting the $5k down to have low payments. I'd appreciate it, as well as probably a lot of others, if you can divulge some more info.
    Thanks
  • ksp205ksp205 Member Posts: 4
with the lease rates so low, i think it's worth it to roll the upfront fees in to the lease term. there's really no point in paying $2k/$3k upfront when you can just roll it into the lease at a rate of 1.8%.

here's the deal that we got at the end of last month:

    AWD Journey
    Premium
    Tech
    Navi
    Luxe Style
    Wood
    Roof Rails & Cross Rails
    Splash
    Cargo Protector

    msrp - $46,275
negotiated price - $41,095 (about $1k below invoice)
fees (acquisition, doc, registration) - approx $1k

    39 month lease / 12k miles
    53% residual
    .00076 money factor
    $490/mo (including sales tax)
no money upfront (except first month rent)

i had a lease trade-in that basically offset the fees (i had some equity in it)
  • kroe10kroe10 Member Posts: 2
First time poster here on the forum. Here's the lease I just signed

AWD Journey, Premium, NAV, Roof Rails and Crossbars, Cargo Protector, Splash Guards
    39 mo/15k
    redisual = 52%
    money factor = .00082
    MSRP - 42,025
Sale Price - 35,685 (about 3k below invoice)
    Tax = 1150
    Fees = 1000
$2500 out of pocket includes 1st month lease
    $395 / month

I thought it was a great deal, but seeing what everyone else on the board is getting, I guess it's pretty standard.

I am getting out of my Acura MDX lease a couple months early. I have been looking at these mid-sized SUV's and I really liked the EX. The dealer just gave me this offer and I'd like to know if this is a good offer or should I expect them to do better.

in my view, the dealer is about $2-$3k too high on your negotiated lease price. based on what other people are getting for similarly equipped cars, your base cap should be no higher than $37k. assuming your MF is within the range of what other folks have gotten (.00056 for 24mos/.00076 for 39mos), then knocking off that extra $2k-$3k should get you under $500/mo.
  • cnygatorcnygator Member Posts: 4
Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to go back and suggest that he need to do a little better. He told me that he is making a "ham sandwich" on the deal. The other thing is that this car is on their lot. It has Options I don't really want. I don't need the Wood trim and I think the splash guards are pretty well overpriiced for 4 small pieces of plastic! I'd rather have the Luxe pakage simply for the Xenon headlights. I was told that this is not a common option found...these lights are part of a more expensive (ie more commonly found) package. I also told him I needed to tow (less that 3500 lbs). But I saw nothing on the quote that lists anything about towing.

I'll assume that the salesman does not really want to locate a vehicle that matches what I want. Probably has to do with hold back etc. But I really don;t want to be paying for options I don't care for...

Does anyone know how thes cars are selling and if there are likely to be any programs in July? I had to stop by the Acura dealer to talk about my MDX. They wanted to me to lease another--got amazingly aggressive. Most of the dealers I have talked to (BMW, Toyota, Honda, Lexus)have confided that the SUV sales have dropped down to almost nothing. That is why I am wondering how the EX sales are doing....

    Hi everyone,
I am considering a lease for the EX 35. I have read some of the deals that a few of you have received. My question: Why would a dealer sell a car for $2,000 - $3,000 under invoice?

Is the AWD a better ride than the RWD?

    And...
    Is this a good deal???
    INFINITI EX RWD
    Prem
    Nav
    Tech
    $43,305 msrp
    24 month lease
$3,500 down (includes first month payment)
    $420 a month (tax included)

I've never leased a car before and I'd love some help. Thanks!

What vehicle did you turn in with this lease....what vehicle did you have that had equity in it? Also, what dealership did you get this deal at?
    Thanks so much
  • lolo143lolo143 Member Posts: 4
I live in Los Angeles. The dealer that offered me this deal was in Cerritos. I ended up buying almost the same car (a little cheaper..minus the tech pkg) at Infiniti of Thousand Oaks. I didn't trade in my car (going to take it to Car Max). Good luck!

p.s. I love love love this car! It's amazing. I'm so happy with it! :)
  • cnygatorcnygator Member Posts: 4
This seems to be a better deal than I was offered. When I asked the salesman to see if he can do better he said that they "..could not sell the EX at no profit". So I am trying to determine what a EX Journey AWD with NAV, Premium and Luxe packages true price really is. I have read some posts that say Edmund's prices are old and are not correct....
  • jakefl7jakefl7 Member Posts: 14
What is your source for the $1500 manufacturer cash back on the EX? I called Infiniti and they had no info on it.
Does anyone know if there is any loyalty rebates if I am currently leasing a Nissan with NMAC am I eligible for Infiniti Loyalty?
  • kjkiikjkii Member Posts: 5
My total upfront out of pocket was only $3.5k (including the $1.5 cap reduction). Sales tax, DMV, first month basically ran $2k.
I actually had two dealers pass on the deal and found one to accept it.
I've put 1k miles on it and love it-
  • kjkiikjkii Member Posts: 5
i hear what you are saying on the upfront, but if you exclude my first month pymt (included in my $3.5k number), I didn't put that much up. They used a 71% residual on the 24 month lease- the pymt actually went up under the 39 month program! I look at the $1.5k cap reduction over 24 months at $62.50. That puts my monthly nut below $460 for only 2 years.

It's from Edmunds. Look under incentives for new cars
  • jakefl7jakefl7 Member Posts: 14
This is what it says for incentives on the EX35 on Edmunds:
$500 Cash to Dealer start: 05/14/2008 end: 06/30/2008 Get Dealer Pricing
Restrictions $500 Dealer cash is available on 2008 EX35. Can be combined with other offers. See your local dealer for complete details.
Comments Dealer participation may vary. Incentives and Rebates are provided subject to the terms of our Visitor Agreement.
$2000 Cash to Dealer start: 05/14/2008 end: 06/30/2008 Get Dealer Pricing
Restrictions $2000 Dealer cash may be combined with 2.9% APR - 3.9 % APR and vehicle must be financed through the manufacturer's captive finance company. $2000 Dealer cash can not be combined with special lease offers. See your local dealer for complete details.
Comments Dealer participation may vary. Incentives and Rebates are provided subject to the terms of our Visitor Agreement.

It states the $2000 cannot be combined with special lease offers.
  • jagoojagoo Member Posts: 23
There is another incentive which can be combined with any other offer. It's for $1000 for ex 35s with navigation system. I just leased one this weekend for 0 down $500/mo, 24 months , 15kmiles/year.

MSRP was $40,825 and cap cost was $36191, including all the fees.
  • cnygatorcnygator Member Posts: 4
I don't think I am going to make my decision before the end of June. Anyone have thoughts whether Infiniti will extend their incentive program on EX35s? Any rumors on new incentives? It seems that the entire auto industry is taking a hit in sales, not just the "Big Three".

    Thx...

I just picked up my ex35 journey and I think I got a great deal. 2 other dealers would not even come close.
    Details:
2008 EX35 RWD Journey Package with wheel locks, splash guards, sunroof wind deflector and cargo area protector.
    MSRP: $35,875
    24 month lease
    12K miles year
    $599 month including 6.5% tax
Sign and Drive ($0 total out of pocket: The inceptions came to $2064 (1st month payment, aquisition fee, dealer fee, registration fee, and FL fees) all of which the dealer paid. I did not give the deal anything.
As part of the deal, the dealer also cut a check for $3000 to Nissan to cover over mileage on my Murano lease turn in.
The dealer claims the deal was a $2000 loss but it was the end of the month and wanted to move a car!

The MF and residual look very strong for July for the AWD models and even more so for the RWD models. It is not impossible to snag one of these for sub-$400 payments + inception fees in certain markets if you can get a few grand under invoice. Otherwise, expect payments around mid-$400s if you get the car at around invoice.

That's actually so-so, considering the fact that this is a ZERO drive-off quote. Then again, the MF is pretty low so it makes sense to do that. I think they can at least give you another 1k off the sale price, not sure how well the EX's sell in AZ, might wanna check the TMV in your area to see what folks are getting. Have you considered getting a quote from CA? If you can get like $1500 to $2000 under invoice and only a $45 doc fee, you might want to give it a shot. Sure, you might wanna drive it back, but AZ isn't terribly far from CA. We're practically neighbors. :)
  • kingpcgeekkingpcgeek Member Posts: 1,051
This isn't a must lease time for me. I have until 10/25 to turn my car in. The quote I received had my final two lease payments rolled into the deal, which of course adds to the payment. I probably will wait until September to see how the deals shakeout. I don't want to go over $400 for a lease payment.

I really don't know if I am sold on the EX. I love the interior, it would be great for my dogs, but the exterior, I don't know. Staring at a G and an EX next to each other yesterday there was no comparison. I would love to walk on the lot and drive away with a sedan in slate blue today.

Have these rates changed for July, and more importantly, where are the BASE (i.e. non-Journey) EX35s?

I see only Journey EX35s on Infiniti's website, and I checked a couple local dealer websites as well - same story. The Base models had much better residuals, according to the above post.....so where are they?
  • gforce11gforce11 Member Posts: 225
They are pretty rare, hence the higher residuals. Not even sure if I've ever seen a base. You do bring a valid point though, where are they?
  • 1985mb1985mb Member Posts: 60
Also, how much can the selling price be discounted when leasing an EX?

I'm guessing the discounts aren't as big as the ones being discussed in the EX purchasing thread (7500+ off MSRP), but there should still be some nice discounts...

When you are buying one there is $4000 dealer cash and $1000 loyalty cash available. when you are leasing there is $500 loyalty cash and that's it. In Phoenix they are going for Invoice + 500 - 500 loyalty = invoice.

Are you sure the $1000 Loyalty and $4000 Dealer cash are not applicable to leases?

absolutely sure. It has been verified by several dealers.

I finally gave up on getting a good lease deal on the EX....got my 6th Subaru (a Tribeca....loaded with NAV, back-up camera - loaded!) for $385 total per month with $1700 OOP). Had a FX35 - turned it in so clean you could eat off it...the $500 excessive wear allocation just goes out the window if it is not used...no incentive to stay with Infiniti and the dealers are just too greedy and don't offer good lease deals. Great car but not worth the high price per month that they wanted!!! Can't beat Subaru's customer loyalty program!!!!

Thanks for the reply. I doubt I qualify for any loyalty, so invoice + $500 is the best possible?

I'm going to be email a bunch of dealers to see if they have any BASE models, since the RV and MF are much better.

Edit: One called back, not sure if he understood Base meant non-Journey trim line, not necessarily a completely unoptioned model

This guy was rather confused by my description of "Base".... he handed the phone to his "manager" who hadn't heard of it either. To his credit, he went to Infiniti.com and of course the only EX35s shown there are Journey rwd/awd.

AFAIK all the reviews mention the two trims - base and journey. And these are recent reviews (e.g., April C&D issue). And that sort of basic information is usually taken verbatim from OEM press kits.

    Base EX35, where art thou?

Thats the best being offered for G35's or EX35's here in PHX. You might be able to get a better deal where you are.
