Hey everyone. I was just curious how many miles people have on there Lincoln LS's. I am just about to hit 250K on mine and it feels like a milestone. Every place I take my car people say how beautiful it looks, and so many people ask me how long I have had it, assuming it's brand new. I bought it with a few thousand miles on it 3 years a 3 months ago. Anyhoo, just curious about peoples miles, thanks.

Wait, you put almost 250k on it in just over 3 Years?

Mine's an '05 with 54K. I only put about 6K a year on it 'cause I ride my motorcycle all summer.

I have an '05 LSE that just turned 50K. She is a great car despite the numerous trips to the dealer for the failed COPS and the hesitation.
  • toomanyfumestoomanyfumes Member Posts: 1,019
59K on my '05. replaced the DCCV (dual climate control valve), and of course, three COPS.

I also have a 2002 LSE with 105K miles on it. Had no issues until it passed 100K and now it's been non-stop (COPS, fuel pump, radiator and now Advancetrac) since December.

Several months ago I purchased a 2001 LS V8 with only 16,400 miles on it. It now has 20,200 on it and ready for first oil change.

I have an 02 lse pushing around 125k. This machine is a beast looks like i just drove it off the lot. The only problem i have had with it is the ignition coils. I found if you use the techtronic shitft it will burn them out 10X faster. other than that she drives like a dream.

Bought an 06 last year with 28k it now has 40k. Good to know others have over 250k miles on the car. I love the car and plan on keeping it as long as possible

I bought a used '05 LS V6 back in '05 with about 22K miles. Now coming up on 215K. All the ignition coils have been changed. plugs changed at 129K.

I have had some issues which I didn't have with my last two cars (both Nissan Altimas), The transmission doesn't shift to D5, so I get the infamous 'E' when I get up to 55-60mph, but the car still runs smoothly.

Most of my driving is on the highway, so not a lot of starting/stopping. Probably the main reason it's lasted so long. I plan to drive it until it disintegrates...

    Wow, that's a lotta miles! :)

My 2001 manual transmission V6 has almost 135,000 miles and I am about to perform the first tuneup. Only item I've spent much money on (besides GAS) is tires. I'm on my 3rd set. Always Firestones.

I have a 2000 Lincoln Ls that has 125K. No major problem besides ignition coils, but now when I start the start i get a cloud of white smoke from the exhaust. Only when I start the car. Do anyone know what this could be?
  • akirbyakirby Member Posts: 8,062
Is it smoke or steam? It might just be condensation in the exhaust - if so it would dissipate very quickly. If it sticks around then it sounds like coolant which would most likely mean a blown head gasket. Check the oil for milky fluid and/or check the coolant for oil. You can also get a compression test done.

I have a 2002 LS (V8) that just hit 209,000 miles! runs great still - alot of electrical problems though.

I'm at 175,000 miles at this point.

I have a 2002 LS. I have had and am still having ignition coil problems. It actually sets the check engine light on - it's a "clyinder misfire" at least that's what it's called on my car. Yeah it's a V8 so there is 8 seperate coils! at $95.00 EACH. I have replaced 4 of the 8 with Ford parts. Now I have a cylinder #7 misfire. But my car has 209,000 miles almost 210. I have alot of issues.

You can pick up a new coil pack from any advance auto/autozone type store for $53 or so. Don't overpay for the Ford part.

Also - if you change them yourself - just make sure the plug well doesn't have any oil or moisture in it - that is what causes them to misfires.

I have a 2001 Lincoln LS - V8. 210,000 miles! Regular maintenance - oil changes every 5-7 thousand miles. I changed plugs at 100 and 200K. Changed out the tranny fluid around 110k. I had to get a new clock spring for the steering wheel controls, and change a window regulator a few years ago. I discovered Wagner ceramic brake pads and good quality rotors go a long way for a smooth ride in this car. In the last 10k miles, i've had to change 2 coils, and am told they will all start going now. This really isn't a big deal....a bit over $100 per coil for a mechanic to do it. This is the best car I've ever owned! It's still a solid, smooth riding car, and all the gadgets still work! Too bad they stopped making them.

2004 lincoln has 73,000. I hope mine reaches them miles and more. I just replaced all 8 coils on it. Now it runs like a champ. I already replaced the water bottle. Upper radiator hose. Thermostat and the housing. Check engine light kept coming on. I think all these problems were caused by faulty ignition coil. Now it runs so good. Like I just pulled it out the lot. I hope it stays that way. I did all the work on it myself. So that there saved me lots of money. Oh I also added seafoam. Thats alot of miles on your car. What is your secret, to keep it running with that many miles? :)
  • jen64jen64 Member Posts: 3
Yeah I have changed out like 5 of the 8 coils some twice and plugs a few times. I have heard alot of the LS's have coil problems. Yeah one year I had a hell of a time with them. Plus when you have a cylinder misfire it makes ur check engine light come on and u can't pass an inspection. It's ridiculos. The car now has 213,000 miles on it. I just do my oil changes regualrly and that's it. I find the less I mess with this car the better. I have dumped thousands into this car. I just had to dump $435.00 to getm y heat working again. Actually I'm $600 something into it because I took it to Midas to have them "diagnois" F**in morons charged me for two hours of labor @ $81.00/hr to mis-diagnois my car. They told me it was my heater control valve, well they are idoits cause it wasn't that. I then brought it to a "radiator specialist" and he told me it was an acuator - NOPE. to make a long story short I drove around with no heat for three months (and I live in NH) froze my [non-permissible content removed] off. I ended up having to bring my car over to VT to see my parents mechanic - 30 years experience with Fords, and works on hot rods, this guy is a genius. I am totally impressed. Plus he didnt charge me to find out why my heat wasn't working and then when he got up in there found there was another aux. motor that wasn't working. Instead of replacing at $130.00 he repaired it for $15.00. It was a B**ch of a job- what isn't with this car.

I just acquired one with 310K

@desertsray......How's it holding up and was it well maintained?  Contemplating buying a perfectly maintained 2000 with 289K for $1600.  Runs super smooth and very clean.

The coils are very important on this car,oil Leaks must be sealed, you can buy new coils at rockauto.com for 17$,not very hard for anyone to install, may as well do the plugs at the same time, blow out the spark plug holes with compressed air befor removing the plugs
  • stundinastundina Member Posts: 5
Mine has 210,000,needs clock spring for stearing wheel buttons, everything else is very good

I had a 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII with the same coil problem. Around 60k or so one of them failed. Then a few months later 2 more went bad. That was around 2005 or so. The second time I just changed all of them. No coil problems after that. By 2005 there was an updated part available. I wonder if that applies to the LS as well. Different car, different engine (Mark VIII had the 32V 4.6L mod motor), but it sounds like the same issue and I wouldn't be surprised if they all used the same coils.

101,000 miles haven't had to change the coils

There are fewer and fewer LS's on the road these days. My 2000 (original owner) V6 with Sport Package and all options has about 156,000 trouble-free miles. I have always kept it off the road in the winter to avoid the salty NW PA winter roads. Looks like a Florida car underneath (and all over.)

Hi I have a 2001 Lincoln Ls. It has 264,000 miles on it and it runs perfect and is s daily driver and has been for 8 years. Just keep the oil changed and try and run the best of fluids. I only run fully synthetic motor in the engine and transmission. Trust me you will live the difference on the road and not beside it. I will check back in once i hit 200,000 miles wish me luck guys.

Tip, get your coils from ebay. You can get a whole set for $30 to 40 bucks mostly. Thanks
