Can you please advise current Money Factor and Residual on a 4x4 Pathfinder SL with tech package (MSRP: $39,715)?

Also, I live in NY, but am considering buying the car in NJ. Do you know if i would be charged sales tax based on where I buy the car or where it is registered?

54% and .00003.

Usually, you pay sales tax based on where you live. I imagine that there are a lot of cross-border purchases in the tri-state area - I'll let someone who lives in the area confirm my suspicions.

Thank you. Also, one more question...you only pay sales tax on the total monthly payments, correct? Not the entire price of the vehicle?

In NY, that is correct .. tax is calculated on the monthly payment.

Same in NJ. Tax is only on the monthly payment and is based on where it is registered. From my experience, documentation fee can be few hundred more in NJ. NY is capped.

NY and NJ both charge tax, based on the payments... but both collect the amount upfront. That said, you can still roll that upfront amount into the lease.

We just got ours last night. 2014 SL Premium (with stainless bumper guard, plastic splash guards, and floor mats), no optional warranty coverages. North TX area. $4K down incl. first payment, $453/mo for 36 months, 15K miles/yr. I was pleased. It's my first lease. Edmunds homework helped prepare me, but it's still a fairly mysterious thing. All I know is they actually hit the number that the Nissan website quoted, whereas every other place was about $80-100 higher than what I worked up online ("because you can't really go with what the mfr. website says, that doesn't consider your location and taxes and blah blah blah" - Oh yeah, then why does it make me put in my ZIP code when I go to build on online? But I digress). They tried to inch me up a couple of times, but I stuck to my guns. Feeling terrible about all the money they "lost" on my deal...

Not a bad deal, considering TX wants sales tax for the entire sales price, not just taxing the monthly payment.

I'm assuming July numbers are the same as June. Please let me know if not. I just picked up a Platinum Premium 4WD for $496/mo 36mo. 15k with 1st payment and acquisition and fees paid outside the lease. Total $1621 up front. Don't know if it's been mentioned but I was told there is a $395 turn-in fee by Nissan. Picking it up today at 1pm. What is the residual supposed to be for 36mo and 24mo? I haven't signed the finance paperwork yet, so I can still change the length. Thanks!

Platinum 4x4 24/15 residual is 56%, 36/15 residual is 48%. MF is .00003 for both.

I don't know what any of this really means but was hoping to get a lower payment, something closer to 450-475 a month but they said that's the best they can do. Is this a fair lease? thx

You are getting the base MF of .00003, so that's good. When I plug in all your numbers, I get a pre-tax payment of $497.86, so $508/mo with tax seems about right, depending on the tax rate where you live.

The only way to lower the payment is to either negotiate a lower selling price (every $1000 saved represents a $28/mo reduction in your monthly payment), or put money down (same formula - every $1000 put down reduces your payment by $28/mo).

However, we don't recommend making any down payment on a lease - if the car is stolen or totaled, you are out that money.

4WD? 36/12 numbers are 53% and .00003. Add 1% for 10K.
