Is there any reason why a sGT in New York would be a .00081 money factor instead of .00031? That is what I am being told here...

Thanks so much in advance - your help on this site is much appreciated!

There is a really good reason: Mazda Finance allows the dealer to mark up the money factor by .00050, for extra profit.

Mazda 3 s GT Hatch. MSRP 27290. Dealer discounted to 26700. $2500 cash down, does not include 1st payment. Payments: $275/month not including tax. 36/12. Pennsylvania. Sounds high to me, what do you think?

The $2500 is all for down payment?

MF is .00031 and residual for 36/12 is 59%. Without the $2500 down, I get a pre-tax payment of $307.68. If I reduce the net cap cost by the $2500, the pre-tax payment drops to $237.46.

Dealer may be inflating the MF on you for a bit of extra profit.

You should be able to negotiate purchase price down another grand at least. Someone posted a few pages back that they got the 27290 MSRP down to 24,900.

Can I have residual/MF for 2 and 3 year lease, 12k/ for a 3 Hatch GT S auto? In Cali. Thanks in advance!

Need a little help here and this seemed like a pretty good place to ask. Looking into my first lease so I'm pretty new to this thing. I've talked to a few dealers about a 36mo/10K miles lease on the 2014 s Touring Sedan. I'm in the Dallas area if that matters.

The best quote I've gotten so far is: MSRP of $24,574. After taxes/fees, $26,417.50. For $1500 down, payments are $372 a month. $2500 down is $342/mo. They told me the residual is 54-64%. Another told me straight up 54%.

Do these seem a little high or is that just me? Thanks for the help.

You have absolutely come to the right place. Let's start with the numbers - MF and RV for the 2014 3s Touring sedan in Texas are 56% and .00038. 54% is for 15K miles per year. There is also $250 lease cash available this month.

The downside is that in Texas, the entire purchase price of the car is taxed, which explains why your after taxes / fees number is higher than the MSRP.

Using your MSRP and selling price with the MF and RV I've quoted, I get a payment of $366.83/mo with $0 down.

We don't recommend making any sort of down payment on a lease - if the car is stolen or totaled, you are out that money.

Hello - looking for August numbers for 2014 Mazda 3s GT Hatch and 3i GT Hatch. 3 years and both 10K and 12K miles. Dealer quoted me a MF of .00089 and a residual of .58, both seem off. Thanks! This is in VA.

Great questions and answers throughout this forum. Thanks! I'm looking at doing a 36 month / 10k lease on an sGT+Tech Hatchback. Given that Mazda doesn't appear to have changed the Residual over the past year, but has lowered the money factor, any downside from jumping into one now, rather than waiting for a 2015 model? I'm fine with the automatic, and not waiting for a 2.5L + MT coming in the 2015...

What state? We only have partial numbers from Mazda for August.

I don't track the RV trends, so I'll have to trust you when you say that the RV hasn't changed, but the MF has over the past few months.

The lower MF will give you a lower payment ... however, the 2014's are getting more scarce, so finding one equipped the way you want, in the color you want, may be a bit of a challenge the longer you wait. There will be more 2015's on the lot, but the MF may be higher. As well as the MSRP.

Thanks Michael. I'm on OR, and I think you are missing the West numbers at this point, so I'm only speculating on the August MF and RV. From an answer on this forum from last september, I recall the MF was something like .00221, rather than .00064 as it is now, so now it's close to 1/4 of what it was early in the 2014 MY. I definitely like the idea of a 2015 if I keep it, and then sell in 5-6 years, as a "year newer" car will have greater perceived value in the resale market, but I'm working with my dealer on pretty compelling numbers for a 2014, and I think they can find what I'm looking for in the region. Going through Costco, I'm looking at something well below dealer "invoice", and now trying to figure out just what the lease terms are so I can make my decision... Thanks again for all your great assistance!

Actually the "regions" as Mazda defines them have nothing to do with geography.

We do have the numbers for Oregon. 59% residual and .00064 MF for 2014 3s GT Hatchback for 36/10.

good morning - looking for numbers for a 2014 Mazda 3 i Grand Touring Sedan for 3 yr/12k miles lease in NY - MSRP $24,590.
I've been shopping around, and "Upstate" around Albany quoted me at a higher price than "downstate" near Poughkeepsie for the same vehicle - are there regional differences in NY? Thanks!

    3i GT 36/12 - 56% for automatic; deduct 2% for manual. MF is .00035.

I imagine the price difference may be due to the amount of competition in the area.

Thanks @Michaell ! Upstate quoted me with 2k down at $270/mo for a lease, but downstate quoted me at $245 without any negotiations. I feel like "downstate" may have more competition, so you're probably right with that assumption. Can anyone comment on whether this sounds like a good deal, or if anyone has had problems with leasing Mazdas (ie, issues with paying for damages/repairs within the lease term, etc)? First-time leasing, so I just want to cover my bases.

I need help determining whether or not I have a good lease deal since I do not know the money factor or residual of this vehicle.

Mazda 3 S Grand Touring 5 Door in Deep Crystal Blue. MSRP: 27,345.
36 months/15k miles. State: New York

$500 recent college grad incentive. First month is waived.
$0 down. Taxes and all fees rolled in comes to:

$350.13/month totaling roughly 12,250 over the 35 month period.

The dealer says the cap cost is $26,579. Please advise, I'd like to know if this is a good deal as this particular trim/color is coming off of the port in a few days, so no one has test driven it... It's brand new!. Thank you.

    2014 or 2015?

With your numbers, the pre-tax payment on the 2014 (57% RV and .00031 MF) I get a pre-tax payment of $347.07.

For the 2015, the numbers change to 60% and .0039 - this makes the pre-tax payment $342.31.

NY calculates is tax for the entire lease up front; you are choosing to add it to your cap cost. Not sure if the $26,579 is before or after tax. If after, then you should target the numbers I provided above. If before, then the $35/mo seems a decent deal.

2014. That cap cost is before tax, the tax was about 1100 something. So the deal seems pretty good.

First month waived is a Mazda thing for leasing they offered I didn't ask.

Am I reading that right? For 2015, the MF is taking a huge bump? For Oregon, 2014 sGT is MF=.00064, and obviously, going to something like .0039 (+.0005 that the dealer is likely to add on), means adding something like 5000 to the cost of the lease over 3 years. I'm thinking a 2014 might make more sense, or just buy a 2015.

I think the MF on the 2015's is currently higher so as to help move the 2014 stock. Once the 2014's are gone, I wouldn't be surprised to see the MF on the '15's come down.

Can someone let me know if this is a good deal? It seems a bit high for my calculation, but I'm very new to this process. I should mention he originally quoted me at 22,915:

    Admin Fee: 75, Licence/Title: 200, Tire/Battery: 12.50, Other: 10

    Total Cap: ****24,638.54
    Down Payment: -720.86

    Thank you!

If I could negotiate approx 1.5k off a iGT or 2k off a sGT, how would I go about putting together an offer for the dealer?

Here's an example offer I came up with so there's probably mistakes. I calculated this with TTL separate. I added $595 acquisition fee to the "costs added to lease", that was a guess based on what I've seen elsewhere.

    MSRP 24295 (iGT)
Base Cap Cost 22795 (If I can negotiate 1.5k off sticker)
    Costs added to lease 595
    cap cost reductions 0
    adjusted cap cost 23390
    residual value 14334
    money factor .00064
    term 36 months
    sales tax % 0

    Monthly Payment $275.70
    Depreation 9056
    Finance (rent) charge 869
    Total sales tax 0

    Total of all payemnts 9925
    total lease cost 9925

Is this in the ballpark? If I were to add in sales tax how do I do that? The calculator made it sound that I should only add that # if the tax is calculated on each payment, but in TX tax is charged on the entire purchase.

Lastly, are there standard title, license and other fees so I know if the dealer is gauging me?

Oh, I forgot to add the destination fee to the MSRP..that changed the monthly payment for me to $289.29. (MSRP 25390 Base Cap cost 23890)

Tax is calculated on the entire selling price in TX and is added to the cap cost up front.

Use the pricing tools at the top of the page to determine your target price.

Mazda has a standard acq fee of $595. Check the TX DMV website for other fees that can be charged by the dealer.

If I use $24,295 as the MSRP, $23,890 as the net cap cost, along with a 59% residual and .00064 MF, I get a payment of $289.91/mo for 36 months.

Hello, I am looking for lease numbers on a 2014 iGT manual hatchback in upstate (western) NY, 36/10k.

Also, does anybody know about when the 2015's will arrive? I ask because I ordered this car on April 1st and was told it would be a 2015. It showed up yesterday (after 4.5 months!) as a 2014 and the dealer is telling me the 15's won't be out until end of the year.

    .00031 MF and 60% residual.

I don't have release dates, but Mazda Credit has an August lease program for the 2015 models. That doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it would make you think the cars aren't far behind. If you are leasing, be glad you got a 2014, though..

Thank you for the quick response! They are giving me a .00081 MF with a 60% residual. Is this the 2015 model rate by any chance?

Nope - the 2015's have a base MF of .00139 - I suspect your dealer is marking up the .00031 MF on you for extra profit.

I get $297.01, so not enough of a difference to matter. Base MF is being used.

I get the same number you do .. base MF is being used. Only way to reduce the payment is to get a better selling price. Use the shopping tools at the top of the page to help determine what a fair price should be.

    Michaell,

Thanks for the info. For some reason the forum isn't letting me quote your post, so you may have to go back a few pages to recall my questions. But basically, it looks like the dealer is definitely charging more than the calculated lease payment. However, what can I do with this info? The dealer is trying to make a profit, so does your estimated lease payment take that profit out? Or could I take these numbers straight to the dealer and have a chance of them bringing their price down?

I'm hoping to go within the next 2 weeks and sign a lease. The 2015 should be out soon, but I'm not sure how much of an impact that would have on bringing down the 2014 price.
