I'm being told by a dealer that they can't do out of state leases. Is this correct?

Thank you I didn't know there was such a big difference between the overland and summit. Can you also give me the mf and residual for the limited both 24 and 26 month on 10k miles.

I might as well fully load a limited if the lease numbers are even better. Thanks

I'm not sure why... I live near a state border, so most of my purchases are in another state. If you are shopping far from home, it's possible they don't want to put in the time for a purchase that probably won't happen.

FYI - I just leased a 2014 JGC 4x4 Limited with 23H package at Dover Jeep in NJ for what I consider to be a great deal..

    • MSRP on window: $41,405
    • 36mo / 12k
    • Added chrome running board ($800 retail)
    • Rebates: IDL + Realtor discount ($500). We did not qualify for Conquest Rebate.
      Residual - 57%
      Gross cap cost - $40348
      Cap cost reduction - $4461
$485/month, nothing out of pocket. Tax, title, registration all rolled in. Paid first months lease payment ($485 and thats it).

This was the only '14 Limited left without 20" wheels. Very satisfied with the lease.. great SUV! Worked with Nick over there, super easy transaction.

Hi Could you please give me the RV & MF for Florida on a 2014 JGC Ltm & Overland V6 10K, 12K, & 15K Thank you

Just leased 2014 altitude 4x4 in Florida. 36 mo 12k miles a year. Was told .00021 was correct MF but the deal was based on 55% residual. I went back and forth stating it was 57% but he insisted the system was showing 55. He said he even called the reps. He also said that Chrysler financial would kick it out if it was wrong next week and would be happy to rewrite the contract if they do.

Is this a bunch of junk or is it really something that can be changed?

I confirm the JGC Laredo Altitude MF and RV for 36/12 is .00021 and 57% (36/15 RV is 55%).

You might want to confirm the miles per year was entered correctly.

Residual value cannot be modified by the dealer.

Hello, could I please have the MF and RV on the following 2014 JGC Laredo 4x4 Msrp around $35500.00 36 mo 15k mi and 36 mo 18k Thank you.

Thank you Michael! I had the worst experience yesterday at a FL dealership. I locked in a price of 45115 on a JGC dielsel RWD via email (MSRP $50685). This did not include the Conquest rebate so the final was $44115. I had a price of $1200 for my trade. All fees totaled 2202, my down payment was $6000 and 6% tax rate. My calculation with taxes was $369 per month. The salesman was great the sales manager was a jerk. First the sales manager told me that the price didn't apply to a lease. I won that battle. Then I was told the RV was not 53% for 12K it was 51. I just kept insisting that I was correct on the RV he finally admitted that he was wrong. They recalculated the lease and it was still to high at $407 with taxes per month. They did not account for my trade of $1200. I kept insisting and they would not budge to correct it; they finally said $393 was the best they could do. I walked out. Could you please check my calcs - I know I am right I use a very good lease calculator. I do have an email in to the GM of the dealership and will keep you posted.

    36/15 .00021 and 55%.

Chrysler does not offer 18K leases; the residual is usually adjusted on a per mile basis of around .10-.20 per mile

What was the net cap cost? Is is the negotiated price of $45,115 minus the $1200 trade equity minus the $6000 down? Or was some of that down payment used to cover the $2200 of fees, etc.?

I know it is impossible to know. But do you expect the 2014 numbers on a 4x4 summit or overland to get better or worst next month? I am not sure if I should wait the week or hurry and get the deal done before September.

You're right ... anything we give you now is just a guess. If anything, I might expect a reduction in both the residual as well as MF.

Net cap cost is 39364. The negotiated price is 45115 less $2000 rebates, 1200 trade, and $6000 less the 2202. They are now insisting my residual of 53 is incorrect it should be 51. Is there anywhere I can go to verify that at Chrysler?

The residual numbers are not public information; we are lucky here at Edmunds to be able to share them with you.

The 36/12 residual for the Overland Diesel RWD is 53%. (Limited is 57% and Summit is 50%).

Using your numbers ($50,685 MSRP and $39,364 net cap) with MF of .00012 and RV of 53% I get a pre-tax payment of $355.20.

One observation - we don't recommend using trade equity or down payment to lower your monthly payment. If the car is stolen or totaled, you would be out that money.

Do jeep salesmen make less on leases? I have emailed three different salesmen about cars on their lots. We have gotten to a negotiated price pretty quick and emails going back and forth steadily, but once I bring up I want to do a 2 year lease they then go silent.

I have leased other cars before and the salesmen usually couldn't care less if it was cash or lease. Is there something different about Jeep?

GC Limited w/ 20" wheels and lux II - MSRP $45,885
    Net cap cost $42,500
About $1000 out of pocket for first payment, plates, etc.

    • 12K 36 mo.
      Residual - 55%
      MF - .00019
      Payment - $489 + tax

    -15K 36 mo.
    Residual - 53%
    MF - .00019
    Payment - $519 + tax

    Thoughts?

    For the 36/12 numbers, I get a pre-tax payment of $492.40

    For 36/15, I get a pre-tax payment of $517.72

    Pretty close to your quotes.

The only way to save money is to negotiate a lower selling price. Is that possible? You will save about $28/mo for every $1000.

Soup 4 - That is high you can do a lot better. You should at least be able to get 10% off of MRSP with the rebates and labor day cash. Email every dealership in your area and collect quotes.

  • smshep1085smshep1085 Member Posts: 1

Well they definitely insist it is 55% for the residual and not 57% for the Laredo and my lease states 12,000 miles a year. I guess at this point it would either be rejected by Chrysler Capital or I am stuck?

Still can't understand how they mess that one up and refuse to correct it.

I have an odd situation. MSRP for summit is $54,185, agreed upon price is $47,985. 24 month lease, residual is 60%, mf .00023. With those numbers monthly payment with no tax should be $663 with 0 down. And since I am in texas I need to pay full tax on the car which is $2999.

They gave me the paperwork and the numbers were different, the Gross Cap cost was $50345, cap cost reduction was $1499, adjusted cap cost was $48846. The payment was $699 a month, I asked them 3 times does this payment include taxes and they said yes. The paperwork says N/A next to every sales tax line.

$699 a month with taxes included is much better than the original deal we agreed on, so I am guessing they forgot to put the taxes in even though I asked about it.

I signed the paperwork, paid them first months $699 payment, and got the deal done even though I felt like something was wrong. If they did really make a mistake, can they do something about it? Or because everything is already signed they are going to have to eat it?

As long as the state gets their taxes, you should be fine. I've heard that in Texas the dealers can do some interesting things with the numbers to get to a reasonable payment for the customer and still meet their tax obligation.

Worst case, the dealer will have you come back and re-sign the contract, at which point you can unwind the whole deal and start over.

    Hi Michael
I wanted to follow up on the 2014 JGC Diesel 2WD that the dealer insisted was an RV of 51 for 12K instead of 53. I went to Jeep.com and built my car with the identical options using my zip code and then hit calculate payments. I used the numbers that autopopulated and just entered 36 and 12k. The payment came up matching a residual of 53 (verified with my lease app). I took a screenshot and sent it to the GM at the dealership - they are honoring the RV of 53. The GM is still insisting that it is a glitch in the computer system but they will override it. I take delivery on Friday if all goes well.

This is for the Overland trim? I'm showing 4x2 36/12 residual as 53%.

No idea why the dealer is pushing back so hard on this when there is so much evidence to contradict them.

Hi- hoping for your collective genius help:

    • 2014 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4, Altitude package: MSRP 39,030 and listed internet price 35,388
    • 3 year / 10k miles a year, zero down
    • Registered in Massachusetts
    • Lease conquest

What should my monthly and sales price targets be? What is the current money factor and residual from Chrysler for the model? I was quoted the below and it seems still too high.

    • Cap cost 34,108.6, Residual 56%/$23,027.70, Rate 5.300, pretax monthly $435.98
Thanks so much for your help!

    • Cap cost 34,108.6, Residual 56%/$23,027.70, Rate 5.300, pretax monthly $435.98
Thanks so much for your help!

    .00021 and 58% for 36/10.

With your MSRP and net cap cost, I get a pre-tax payment of $330.56.

Sorry for all of the questions. .00014 RV and 56% residual for 2014 gc limited 4x4, 36/12 is set by Chrysler Financial, right? Do you know what numbers Ally uses? Thanks again.

The only numbers I have are from Chrysler Financial. No access to the Ally numbers.

Thanks Michaell, you are awesome. Deciding between using Chrysler Financial with better rates, and much higher selling price($37k). Or Ally with $4500 off promotion on the price($32.5K), but higher monthly rates. Any thoughts?

Without any of the Ally information available to me, I can't really make an informed decision. You'll have to run the numbers yourself to figure out which has the lower total cost for the entire lease term.
