  When purchasing a car, you really need to take into consideration the trade-in value of your car, loan terms, value of the new car you are buying and dealer fees. I have seen some dealers charge as much as $800 dollars for fees. You need to do your homework before you get to the dealership. Remember the dealer is not there to get you a great deal, he's there to get the most out of you as possible. Negotiate everything and don't be afraid to walk if you feel you are not getting the best deal. When the salesperson starts asking what he needs to do today to get you to buy ; don't be afraid to say you are still looking for the best deal. Another factor to take into consideration, what type of reputation does the dealer have. If there is an issue with the car that you buy from them what is the after sale service like. Usually, when purchasing from MB, BMW, Infiniti, Audi etc, they supply you with a high end loaner. This could be a consideration when bringing your car in for service. But you are paying a premium for those cars. Always ask for an out the door price. Dealers make the most money on used cars. Don't be afraid to offer $2500 less than there asking price. Check the values of used cars and new cars using Kelly Blue Book, NADA, and Edmunds. Often dealers will go by what they can get the car on the wholesale market and ignore what KBB and NADA are offering. Be firm but realistic on the value of your car. Check carco car history prior to purchase. Stay away from multi-owners with accidents. Most important do you research, find out what type of car will serve your needs. Buy a car that you will be happy with. Chances are you are going to have it for a few years . Look at the options that will make that car more comfortable for you (leather, heated seats, sunroof, navigation etc.)
