    Stop making excuses about crappy CA gas. Yeah it sux but the Benz ran on the same gas, and with 60k miles and a slush box still beat the tuner car like a gong.
    50hp difference is huge.

    550 crank hp, maybe. More like 530-540 crank hp.

    1-2 octane is going to make a small hp difference, no doubt. Not that big.

    why wouldn't slp underrate their output?!

    these kind of cars go to people who are very likely to see them on a dyno or dragstrip at some point and when they don't get the output/times they expect someone is gonna have to answer.

    their customers are paying too much not to get what they are expecting.

    Have you guys dynoed a ZL1 for comparison purposes? That would be the easiest choice.

    Isn't the common factor for driveline loss 20% for calculating hp-to-the-wheels? If so, that puts 479 wheel-hp on a dyno about 598 hp at the flywheel, no?

    Wow look at the torque on the SL65. Smaller displacement but huge torques.

    Not impressed. The LT Stingray is rated 460/465 and made 411/407. The 2011 Mustang GT was rated 412/390 and made 380/353. So the 'Vette and the GT made anywhere from 87.5% to almost 92% of their rated output. The Benz made almost 88% of rated hp and over 92% of rated torque. The SLP Camaro made just under 80% of rated hp and 81.5% of rated torque. Yes, Edmunds did dyno-test a ZL1 - on rated power of 580/556, it made 497/497 - or almost 86% and almost 89% of rated power and torque, respectively. And it did it with a TVS 1900 blower vs the larger TVS 2300 the SLP uses. And this was all done on the same dyno. And I don't recall any ZL1 tests in which parts were falling off the car.

    ok, to sum up. The zl1 is better built and makes more powah than the slp.

    Soooooo... what is the point of the slp?

    The ZL1 made 497hp/497lbft on the same dyno with a lower rating at the crank. That is pretty lame for the SLP. And the Mercedes in this test was tested in 3rd gear which has a 1.41:1 ratio. It was supposed to be tested in 4th gear which has a 1:1 ratio but the top speed limiter kicked in. The Mercedes would have had even higher numbers in 4th gear.
