    The Big Body Benz was engineered and built for the autobahn, no doubt about that. But I've found that most cars today can cruise easily at faster than legal speeds. Not autobahn speeds but a 80 and 90 mph all day cruise is nothing for most cars.

    All around speed limits on High ways should be raised in light of how safe and stable modern cars have become. However the CL65 is overkill however you slice it and a CL500 would be a more reasonable choice.

    @allthingshonda, very true, even my wife's Fiat 500c can easily cruise at 90 mph. But the real problem is not the cars, is the drivers education of Germans vs. Americans.

    @benson2175: Only for certain stretches of highways. Some portions of the US are still antiquated, with short merge on/off ramps, exits on the left side, narrow shoulders, poor sightlines, bad drainage and the like. If you ever drive on say, Ontario's 407

    I'm going to have nightmares thinking about US drivers trying to go 100 mph on some of the concrete slab interstates in the desert SW. Consider the joints, the resonant frequency of the suspension and how much time the rubber would actually be on the road. Scary.
