My 2008 Escape has the flip up window, and as someone who frequently has dogs in the cargo area, I'm hesitant to buy a new SUV that doesn't have one. It's not only convenient to add smaller items thru the window, say, to that ice chest that's packed back there, but safer than opening the whole hatch, and risk having an excited pet bail out prematurely. Not to mention it takes less space to pop open the window if you're hitched to a trailer. I'm going to try holding out for the return of this handy feature.
