    What is the MSRP?

The base MF for the X5 this month is .00130, and the 42/12 residual for the xdrive 35i is 52%

Are you using MSD to buy down the MF?

Just got a lease quote on a 2015 X5 that seemed pretty good to me, but would love someone to confirm. MSRP $62,025, 36 mo / 10k miles. MF of .0013 and 57% residual. Quoted me $749 a month, assuming taxes and first payment at signing. Good deal?

Looks pretty good... That would assume a CAP cost of $58,000.

Watch out for your Due at Signing amount... before you make any agreements, know that number and what it includes. "Oh, just the normal start-up fees" can turn into $5000 real quick.

Thanks. I was under the impression the "normal start-up fees" were not really negotiable. Is that not the case?

Sometimes, those "normal" fees include things that aren't really normal or required. That was my point. You need a breakdown of every number.

Yes, .00130 is the base MF this month. 36/15 residual is 54%.

Looking at an X5 5.0i with MSRP of $84050. Dealer quoted me MF .0017, residual of 57% on a 36/10 lease. Monthly payments were $1039 with a $5000 deposit. Previously negotiated a purchase price of $79007 (6% off MSRP) but he is trying to get me to lease instead of purchase, what are your thoughts on where I should be on the lease numbers? Thanks in advance!

Base MF is .00130, so your dealer is marking that up on you for extra profit.

When you say "$5000 deposit" is that a cap cost reduction? If so, we don't recommend that because if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.

Using your MSRP and purchase price with the base MF, I get a $0 down, pre-tax payment of $1029.

6% off MSRP is a good selling price ... X5's are not known to be discounted much.

Thank you very much!! $5000 was cap cost reduction. I will bring these #s to the dealership this morning and see what they say!! Also, is the residual 57%?

    Yes, 57% residual for 36/10.

$5000 equates to an extra $139/mo over the lease term. Getting the base MF will offset some of that extra cost. You may want to consider using that cash as MSD - lower the MF and you get the money back at the end of the lease.

Thank you Moderator, put the order in on the BMW yesterday but the manager said that he wants to see what the lease #s are for February and which ever one is better (January vs. February) I'll get. Are there any lease #s for February out as yet for a 36/10 lease?

It appears the numbers will be better for all of the BMW SAVs, next month...

If you are ordering, I would want my order put in next month... and then, you can still take advantage of better numbers, if they are available when your car shows up in March or April.

I was in market last year for x5. Decided on 535x sedan at dealership after test driving both. 535 faster and cheaper with better residuals. dealer said only 1 inch lower in height. We were just blasted with 30 inches of snow. the 535xi sedan handled great. 61% residual on car vs 57% on suv = $200 more a month.

Just got a quote for a 2015 X5 sdrive35i in CA and I was hoping that I could get some input before I pull the trigger.

The MSRP is 66,700 and the selling price is 62,750. I was quoted a residual of 58% for a 36 month/12k year program.

I'm buying down the MF with additional security deposits (the quoted MF is .0013) - with the security deposits ($5950) + first month payment ($832) + fees and insurance ($567) the dealer is asking for $7350 up front and a monthly payment of $833

Does this seem like everything is in order and does this seem like a good deal? I feel like there may still be some wiggle room with the price... Im working with the fleet manager and he's adding $750 to the wholesale cost.

Thanks in advance for the information!

If I add the $795 acquisition fee to your selling price for a CAP of $63,545, I get a payment of $755.mo.+tax.

The base rate is indeed .00130, but make sure that you are actually getting .00081, after the MSD reduction. Also, ask that you are getting the base acquisition fee of $795 (they can mark it up to $995).

I'm hoping "fees and insurance" is your title/registration.. Doc fees are limited to $80 in California.

Unless your tax rate is 10%, the payment is a little high... If it doesn't include taxes, something is wrong.

Interestingly enough the attached sheet shows that there is no acquisition fee due at signing, however is is shown as a $200 profit in the profit section. and you were right! In the cap cost breakdown section is it shown as $995

can you review the doc and ensure that the only item out of line is the acquisition fee? Once again, thanks for your guidance!

My numbers are the same as the dealers, to the penny. $200 over 36 months is about $5-6/mo on the payment; you're getting a nice discount from sticker that more than compensates.

Michaell, I actually ran this through the Edmunds calculator and their numbers are right on. Their MF is high, so that's about $40 in payment, but the rest works out. How did you come up with your number? I'm in Texas, by the way.

I have my own lease calculator spreadsheet. Are you using the same numbers for MSRP and net cap cost? I know that Texas calculates sales tax against the entire cap cost, which my numbers probably don't include.

I am looking at leasing a 2015 BMW X5 xdrive35d. MSRP: $64,675 negotiated price: $60,085 Here is what they offered for a 36 month/10,000 mile lease:

$864 mo with $7164.89 due at signing in which $6048.00 is refunded. I'm using all but $1080 for multiple MSDs. I'm not sure that they brought the money factor down enough. They tell me that with the multiple msds it is .00120. The $864 includes taxes, tags and registration so I'm assuming the $1080 is for other fees. That is all that I will lay out and pay. Is this a good deal or should the money factor be lower considering the multiple MSDs?

    Thanks for your help!

The base MF is .00129, so if you are maxing the MSDs, the MF should be .00080. That will decrease your payment a little bit.

On the other hand, you are getting a decent discount from the sticker price.

I am unsure what the cap cost is, however I am in NY and my tax rate is 8.875. I am just trying to determine weather or not I should keep trying to hunt for a payment under $900 if thats even possible including my College Credit.

When you get your lease quotes, ask them for the CAP cost... You need all the variables to do a calculation.

Are you sure the tax rate is 6%? I thought there were some tax regulations that bumped the tax rate to 9%.

With 9% sales tax, I get a payment of $1028.46/mo with your numbers.

If you're comfortable with the selling price, the only way to lower the payment is to use MSDs.

What do the April numbers (Residual/MF) look like for 35i xdrive, 36 months, 12K miles?

.00130 and 60% for 36/10 - those are the only numbers I have at the moment.

    What can I expect for a lease quote on a 2015 X5 3.5xDrive?

    MSRP - 64,480
    Selling Price - 61000
    MF 0.00130
    60% residual
    6.5% sales tax rate
    Title/Reg fee = $56
    $200 dealer doc fee

3500 cap cost reduction at signing (doesn't include acquisition fee of 795 or first month's payment)

    Thanks in advance.

$689.69/mo with tax using a net cap cost of $57,500.

We don't recommend making a cap cost reduction; if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money. Consider using the cash for MSDs instead to buy down the MF - lowers your payment but you get the MSD money back at the end of the lease.

Thanks. Can you do a quick and dirty explanation of MSD's. For example...what could I do with the $3500 I plan on putting down to reduce the cap cost? Or do you have a link handy? Thanks again.

MSD's are the payment amount rounded up to the next $50. Each MSD lowers the MF by .00007; a maximum of 7 are allowed for BMW, taking the MF down to .00081 this month.

You get the MSD monies back at the end of the lease.
