Why the hell are these cars going for such a huge discount? What's the catch? Is the residual inflated in your opinion? I heard they are going to get a makeover soon for 2016. Is this true? Are they trying to discount old stock?

I suspect it's simple supply and demand - too many 7-series and not enough buyers. I have no knowledge of a resdesigned 7-series, but if that is in fact the case, then I could see BMW trying to get rid of old stock.

If you were in the market for a car between $55k and $85k, what would you pick up?

The S-Class is out of the price range and doesn't give a ton of 'bang for your buck' (if you know what I mean).

I like the S6, maybe an A7/S7. The 7 series does look like a king's car, but I've surprisingly heard bad things about them from the guy who runs The Smoking Tire. The Lexus LS460 doesn't seem like much of an improvement over the GS350. Jaguar doesn't offer anything interesting in the area of nice sedans. Cadillac provokes an 'eh'.

I'm not the right person to ask .. the most expensive car I've ever bought is my wife's CX-7, which stickered in the low 30's.

Each brand has their own pros and cons - what's important to you? Best lease price - MB or BMW have better deals than Audi. Cost to own - again, BMW covers you for 4 years and 50K.

Have you considered Cadillac? A couple of folks here on these forums have picked up a CTS and they love them. One is a recent convert to the brand, while the other has owned American cars in the past. Not sure how they lease, but I've heard good things about them -- so much that an ATS coupe is on my 'dream car' list in my mind.

$700/mo for a $103K car? You bet its a good deal. That discount is enormous (even if $4000 of it is from BMW).

Not unless you plan to trash the car in the 2 years you have it.

What state are you in? You're paying taxes up front? I plugged in your numbers into a lease calculator using a residual of 66% and Money Factor of 0.00130 - 7*.00007 = 0.00081 and without tax the monthly payment comes out to $755.85. Is this a brand new car or is it a loaner/demo?

The money factor I am getting is 0.001210 with deposit of 6 payments. I do not understand how you got the money factor that you showed. Can you please explain? Thanks.

The base MF is .00130; your dealer is marking it up the maximum to .00170 then applying the MSD discount back to .00121.

Can the dealer mark it up to the max even for those with the highest credit rating (850+ FICO score)? Is'nt this discrimination? What can one do to demand a MF commensurate with the FICO score?

@big_b750li Dealers are permitted to markup the base money factor for extra profit. It's all part of the negotiation.

Does BMW have an option for 27 or 30 month leases? If so, does the residual change commensurate with the term? Curious to about a 27 or 30 month lease with 12k miles/year on a 740i.

The shorter terms are not good with BMW on this model. The residuals are higher, but not a lot higher. 36 months is the sweet spot.

.00134 MF and 55% residual. $5000 buildout cash.

They seem to be pushing 24 month leases of the 7-series, this month. Residual is 65%
