Hello! Spent most of the afternoon at the dealership today and would like to verify some of their pricing, which was coming in very high for two models:

2015 Volkswagen Jetta Sedan SE 1.8T w/Conn (automatic trans)
2015 Volkswagen Jetta Sedan S 2.0L (Base - automatic trans)

Looking for the residuals at 24, 36 and 48 months and the money factor.

Thank you!!!

    Either model:

    .00030 MF and 55% residual for 36mo, 15K/yr. $500 lease cash.

You can do the "Sign then Drive" program for 36 months, but you can't for 24 months... at 48 months, the money factor goes way up.. So, 36 months is the only viable term.

Thank you! Also - I don't see anywhere on here that talks about prices paid for this model. Approximately what would be considered a great deal on this car? How much below MSRP ($20,710)? I'm trying to figure out what it will come out to on the lease based on the MF and residual you listed. Thanks!

You can check TMV by building your car using the Make/Model/Year tabs at the top of the page. That will give Edmunds' estimate of the market value.

Hi. Been working with a dealer on the following deal. I have one $250 payment left on my current car, which is apparently being offset by current incentive. is this something i should jump on or should i wait until the end of next month to see how the numbers change?
    2015 Jetta SE/Auto/Connectivity
    MSRP $23500
    Sell price $20648
    OOP $1408 (inception fees)
    payment $270 (including tax)
    MF .00089%
    NJ tax
the takes advantage of presidents weekend incentives, so they may not be there next month.
    what do you think?

What lease term and how many miles per year?

    $270/mo seems high.

What is the net cap cost - and how did the dealer get to that number from the selling price? Might be fees hidden somewhere that is bumping the payment.

In DC with tax rate of 6% I am being quoted a monthly payment of $296 based on:
    $17,135 internet price plus $805 freight plus $705 acquisition fee = $18,690

for a 36 month, 10,000 mile lease, with $0 down and a .00089 money factor.

    Doc fee = $579
    Taxes = $1007
    Tags=$204
    Acquisition=$625

Is this a decent deal? Which of the fees (besides taxes/tags) should I negotiate on?

MSRP of $20,135 minus $3,000 for $17,135 internet price

  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 236,588

    $20,135

There is $1500 of lease cash on the Jetta S 2.0. After considering that, you are getting about a $600 discount from MSRP... yet, the dealer fee is $579, so basically paying full sticker price.. It's not really a $3000 discount, because the MSRP includes the destination fee, and you are adding it to the sales price.. So, $17,940 + $579 doc fee = $18,519.. Since VW is giving the dealer $1500.. that is about a $100 discount

Is everything rolled into the lease? How much is due at signing? Does DC tax the full selling price of the car on a lease?

To get to $296/mo, the CAP cost has to be about $21,100.
I can't get to that, even with everything on your list (acq.fee listed twice.. if I add it in twice, I get $21,100)

    Hello.
I am having a really hard time figuring out a true monthly cost. Can someone help?
Looking at a 2015 Jetta GLI SE Manual.

    MSRP $27000
    Negotiated Price: $24000
    Money Factor .00089
    Residual 59%
I want 0 out of pocket
Inceptions as per dealer are 1400 which I would roll into the lease.

Dealer is telling me 0 OOP and $350 a month + 6% tax (Broward County, Florida)

    Thanks

I confirm the .00089 and 59% residual for the GLI 36/12.

However, when I use the $27K MSRP and $25,400 as the net cap cost, I get a payment of $317.93/mo with tax.

Ask the dealer what the net cap cost is ... my guess it's higher than the number I'm using. If so, ask them how they got their number from the selling price. Could be hidden fees.

Thank you. This dealer is known for giving you a car price then adding other things to it behind the scenes. This helps a lot

do you happen to have residuals for 36/15k?

Thank you so much. I did change the numbers a bit as the window sticker on the car says MSRP is $28500. so this helps slightly.

    I got the following
    MSRP $28,300
NEG PRICE: $24,157 (TRUE CAR PRICE)
    FEES ROLLED IN: $1,400
    NET CAP COST: $25,557
    RES: 57% ($16,131.00)
    0 OOP

Total Monthly Payment Including Sales Tax $316.87

This is so far from what the dealer was giving me. Lets see how they react.
Here is the car showing Window sticker + Their price.

Hi, long time browser/student of this website, first time posting. I've recently got an offer from a NYC based VW dealer of the following figures. Please let me know if this is a good deal. I've leased cars in the past but first time asking if I've done my HW correctly... THANKS!

    2015 GLI SEL DSG
    12,000 miles/year
    36 months
    Vehicle price: 28997.56
    Taxes and fees upfront:
    Taxes: 1067.42
    Registration fees: 75
    Bank acquisition fees: 625
    State inspection: 10
    Other: 87.50

    Monthly: 330 (not including taxes)

Total due at lease signing: 2237.32 (I know the total doesn't add up.. about 42.40 is missing from elsewhere)

    :)

    EDITED:

    MSRP is 31,200
Also, when I did the tax calculation for NYC, I get 1054.53=(330x.08875)x36. Is that a markup? Can't believe I didn't catch it.

Also, I'm a little wary as it doesn't have fees associated with docs, tires, etc.

At first I thought the 330/month at "nothing down" was a good deal, but I'm starting to feel I missed something here. Unfortunately, I didn't sign the full paperwork yet so this is all the information I have..

I get about $336/mo. with .00089 MF and 59% residual.

Most likely, you are also paying tax on the acquisition fee. Doc fee is capped at $75 in NYS.

Given that the numbers are only $6/mo apart, the only way to do better is to negotiate a lower selling price.

What are MF and Residuals for all the Trim Levels for 15K/36 in Ohio? 1.8/TDI/GLI. Does manual/automatic matter? I would probably perfer GLI in manual?

Am also in Broward County and bought my Golf from Gunther...a much better and more honest dealer. Something about Rick Case bothers me, I did go test drive there before I bought but came home and needed a shower afterwards. Even though Gunther has multiple dealer locations, I bought from their Coconut Creek location as it's so close to our house. I originally was going for the Jetta but after the "garage test", it was just too tight a fit so went with the Golf instead...a much better decision.
