  Feel lucky if your Yugo has an electric fuel pump, and not the earlier cam-driven mechanical fuel pump. For a few years in the mid-'80s I owned a Fiat Strada - the Yugo's cousin, and perhaps the worst car ever assembled by a high-tech robotic factory. It's Weber carburetor was a fuel-boiling vapor-locking mess, and the mechanical fuel pump was prone to failure. The solution came from Fiat motorsports house Bayless. I installed a Facet electronic pump underneath near the fuel tank, and installed a cover plate and joined the lines up front. That fix was reliable up to the day I sent that car to its grave.

  See #7 (about 4 o'clock) in the pic on the rebuild sheet? That's an idle stop solenoid, it was used during deceleration to lean out the air/fuel ratio. If you are losing power to that solenoid, or if it is failing, you will lose your idle circuit and that causes a stall. Confirm that you are not losing power to that solenoid during idle operations, and that once turned off for a decel that it doesn't stick closed.

  "And Arko's talking about a fuel-flow problem, which is why he keeps a few spare fuel filters in the car, just in case"
  
  Keeping spare filters suggests the filters are getting clogged, suggesting there is some junk in the fuel system. Maybe you need to flush out the gas tank?
