Hey people of Edmunds.com, So I just got my G2 (Canada) and was looking at this 2008 Saturn VUE XE AWD NOW I was reading around and saw that a lot of people have had problems with this vehicle and so I just wanted to ask you guys what you think of the VUE. Side not when I took the VUE out for a test drive their was a slight squeak noise every (It sounded like it was coming from the engine area) 10-20 seconds or so also their was another squeak but I am sure that that one noise is just the belt.

this VUE does have 123,814 km and is $8,950

Major issue with this car has been the transmission. Read on: (from RepairPal.com)

Vehicles with a 6speed automatic transmission may develop one or more of the following faults related to a broken 35R clutch wave plate inside the transmission: Illumination of the Check Engine Light with code P0716, P0776, P0717, P0777, P2714, P2715, and/or P02723, loss of reverse gear, slipping or harsh 3rd or 5th gear shift. Removal and dis-assembly of the transmission will be required to replace the broken 35R wave plate. It is also extremely important that all debris from the failed part be cleaned from the transmission while it is disassembled in order to try and prevent future problems.

the best advice I can give you is to have the car put through a pre-purchase inspection and also pay close attention to how it shifts on the test drive.

A Loose or worn gas cap may cause Check Engine Light to illuminate. Some owners have to install new gas caps repeatedly.
