There are many fans of adjustable lumbar support on our staff. I'm not one of them. Sometimes it makes a seat feel more comfortable, other times just feels awkward. In most cars, I just leave it alone.

    Sounds like it's pressing against a "stop" to keep you from extending it too far out and popping the threaded rod, or whatever the equivalent method of extension is, out of place. If that's the case, I doubt that a shot of WD-40 (which will typically cure everything except cancer) will fix this.

    I never use the lumbar support and usually forget that it's there.

    I like having them. A rolled up t-shirt works okay too.
