Is my transmission going or is it a bad chip? Chrysler Town and Country
Before I have it checked out Im looking for opinions. In the last week my Chrysler T&C 2008 minivan will start out, shifts upto 3rd gear and no further. As the revs get high, I have pulled over, turned the engine off completely, restarted, and then it works fine again - shifting through all 6 speeds. Does this sound like my transmission is going (112,000 miles on it) or is this perhaps a chip going bad? Looking for opinions and advise before I go so I can be armed against the possible rip-off garages,

Sounds to me like your Trans is on its way out. I reccommend you find a reliable reputable trans store to look at your trans.. A rebuilt trans should run you about 2k. Most places might have to take apart your trans to trouble shoot the problem.. That alone could cost several hundred just for the inspection and labor if your not having them do the work. Very common on your year van that the trans is going.
