Planning to Buy new 2016 QX60 AWD

Hi,

I am new here and I see that plenty of discussion on leasing QX60 and I couldn't find any discussion on actually buying it. I got an offer from a dealer today. MSRP of $48,510 for a 3.5L V6 with the premium plus package and he was giving me $4k discount. True car estimate puts it around that figure ( i.e $44510 plus taxes/fees ). Any idea whether this is a good deal ? Please share any info that could help me. Thanks.

Prices vary greatly by region. You can still see the negotiated sales prices from the leasing thread to help inform your purchase decision. In my experience you can do better than Truecar by at least a few hundred from shrewd negotiating and involving multiple dealers. Also, purchase incentives and rebates are usually better than those available for leasing.

I got about 14% off MSRP end of April on my 2016 QX60 AWD P+ with drivers assistance in LA. Check the true market value estimate from Edmunds as well as other internet purchase sites for quotes.

    $44,510 looks like a good number - I'm seeing TMV of $45,465 for a 95101 zip.

I like @jkipster's suggestion of getting more quotes. Looks like there's four dealers in your area.

I just noticed that you're in San Jose. If SoCal isn't too far you're very likely to get better pricing here for the cost of a one way ticket.

Currently TrueCar is showing $41,637 for the FWD with P+ (MSRP $48,295) in zip 90630.

how lease cap cost is related to buying price?

Thanks for all the replies. I am in bay area. The best offer that I could get was MSRP $50k . Sale price $43k + fees/taxes = $47k. AWD with Premium and Premium Plus packages included.

The capitalized cost in a lease is the negotiated selling price + any fees or taxes that you are not paying up front - any down payment you make

That looks like a pretty good price. If you're not in a rush, then you can play the waiting game and see who'll be desperate to make their sales number at the end of June. In my experience, dropping by the lot to do a test drive helps once you've started negotiations because it signals that you're a serious buyer. Just have a really aggressive sale price in mind (i.e. $41K on the $50K car above) and let them know that's what you'll sign for. Then just have then give you their best price and go home with it in writing. Now you've got their best offer in hand to shop around with other dealers.
