We're going with the 3.6r Touring model to get the brown interior and exterior and the slightly less rugged look.  We have two higher volume dealers willing to do around 9.5% off MSRP, but most were not nearly as aggressive on the Touring model since there are so few actually available.  We were as low as 11% off on a loaded 2.5i Limited before taking the step up.

Good price. I'm about to pull the trigger on a 3.6 Limited with all the bells and whistles for 34,500. I loved the look of the Touring, but other than different headlights, all the other changes are aesthetic. Very happy, now I just need to decide on color. First I was going to get the Twilight Blue but since it hasn't come in yet, I may grab the tungsten instead. Any thoughts?

I know 3.6 offers V6 but does it makes that much difference compared to 2.5 when it comes to daily driving ..

You would have to drive both and decide. My wife insisted on the 3.6 when we bought her Outback last year. The 2.5, of course, gets better mileage.

    It's actually a flat-6, not a V-6.

Please forgive multiple posts in different threads, but I am trying to get some advice soon. Being in Mexico, the models are slightly differently equipped and differently priced. Here is my line of questions: Choices: 2017 Outback 3.6, 2016 Forester XT vs 2017: XT Forester. I live in and must buy from a Mexico Subaru dealer. The choice is to pay $26,376 U.S. dollars for a 2016 new XT, or to pay $29,328 for a 2017 new XT. The difference of $3,000 raises my first question to you all: Are the soundproofing (door seals, thicker windshield) and the vectoring to compensate for steering issues, worth paying the $3,000 for a 2017 XT? The other choice is an Outback 3.6 2017 for $30,280. So, is the 2017 worth $3,000 more for the new features over a 2016 Forester XT? Or, second question, would most of you go for the Outback 3.6 at the $30,000 price? Thank you.

I guess the question back to you is this - which one do you prefer driving? Getting a great deal and saving money is all well and good, but if you don't like the car you picked, who cares?

My wife drives the 3.6 Outback and loves it. I don't think she would like the Forester - not big enough for her.

I would recommend you test drive all three and determine which one you like the best.

"My wife drives the 3.6 Outback and loves it. I don't think she would like the Forester - not big enough for her." Thank you for the valuable input. I pay cash all at once, so $3,000 is $3,000. I also was looking for someone who knows about the 2017 upgrades and can put a big or not so big value on those. Interestingly, I can buy a new 2016 CRV down here for $21,300, top of the line (leather, navi), but that opportunity will not last because 2017 CRV production is moving to the U.S. Now, we're talking $9,000 difference between the 3.6 2017 Outback and the 2016 CRV. I'm having a hard time justifying buying the 2017 Subaru Outback since $9,000 is about what I make at my part-time job per year (semi-retired). Anyway, if anyone can put a value on the upgrades of 2017: small, medium, big value difference, that would be appreciated. (The MX dealer does not permit XT test drives, has no demo, so that tells you how small Subaru sales are here.) Cheers.
