What's the typical cost to replace Odyssey front axles
This is for 2007 Odyssey EX. A local shop quotes $915 (parts + labor). That sounds to be very high to me, as I am able to buy a pair of axles for around $140-150.
The shop claimed they use the original Honda's parts. Does it make much difference if I use parts from some 3rd parties?

That's within the acceptable cost range from a quality repair shop...it's more towards the high end but not the maximum. It depends, too, on your zip code. Here in California, that repair could indeed cost $900. I suppose a small shade tree type operation could do it for $600, and the dealer would probably be in the $1100 range.jjpcat said:This is for 2007 Odyssey EX. You have to be careful of aftermarket axles. There's a lot of junk out there. But you can buy good quality replacement parts if you shop carefully. The labor should be about $300, so it seems that Honda axles are pretty darn pricey.
Generally OEM axle kits from the dealer have the highest success rate. I guess it depends on how long you intend to keep the vehicle. If your mechanic is insisting on OEM axles, maybe he knows something. Talk to him about this vs. aftermarket axles.
