I'm in the early stages of car purchase and will probably go with the Honda EX-L. In Los Angeles, what would be the best price to expect and any recommendations regarding dealer?

    Hi all,

Originally I was planning on leasing, however long term it makes more sense to own a vehicle in my current situation. Do you happen to know the incentives being offered for purchasing in the State of New Jersey? I'm looking to get into any 2017 Honda Accord EX-L Coupe. This will be my first car purchase ever.
I was going to email multiple dealers internet sales managers (10-15 or so) around the last 2 days of the month and tell them that whichever dealership will give me 2000.00 below invoice will get my business that day [as seen in this forum as an effective means of purchasing]. Being as it seems the rebates look strong, I don't see this as to insulting [please correct me if this seems to much of a lowball offer]. If the dealership accepts this offer and can email me back a Bill of Sale contract with all of that specific vehicles information and pricing then I will leave a credit card deposit to hold the vehicle until I am able to come down and finalize everything.
Does this sound plausible to you? Thanks in advance, I appreciate this forum as it has been very educational and informative!

    Cheers,

    Ryan from NJ

-edit- I should also note that I currently have a 680 credit score, but my father whom is graciously co-signing has a score in the upper 700s. I am curious as to what Honda is offering for 60-72 month apr for financing for this model (if 84 months is an option id consider). Only variable I'm trying to control is keeping my payments under 400 a month. I will be putting 7000.00 down. Thanks again!

Excellent plan of attack . Asking dealers in NJ for 2k below invoice really puts you at 1700/1600 below invoice depending on doc fees. Start your calls / email blasts on FEb 27th maybe holding out till FEB 28th for lowest deal. I'll post later NJ dealers that you need to call in addition to yours . Financing chart below.

You give me hope! I'm looking for something similar, I was hoping to pitch $22,500. Think that's doable? Also in Norther California / Bay Area.

$22.5 might be doable. I've seen a report (not confirmed) of someone, somewhere in the US doing $22.3 on an EX CVT. I can't find any more details though. NADA shows the current lowest sales price of $23,078 - I expected lower numbers since Accord sales (and sedans in general) are getting weaker.

E-mail the dealerships directly through their websites with a $22.5 offer (or whatever # you pick) and see what they say. End of the month buying gives you the most leverage.

I had better pricing success with out of the way dealers and also with some (not all) dealerships run by the Sonic Automotive Group.

If the new graduate incentive is offered directly by Honda I personally wouldn't mention it at first.

    Keep us posted!
My most recent offer has been $22,680 plus TTL a few minutes ago. Wow, that's great as well. With the new grad rebate (as down payment), it would be $22,180.
I plan to purchase an EX as well. I am in Texas and I got two quotes today.

    EX white w/ sensing.
    Internet price: $23,800

    EX white
    Internet price: $23,200

Plan to knockout 1k. Keep me posted when you get lower offer!
Finally bought this EX white with Honda Sensing.
    OTD $26,500

When you purchased your car, price really doesn't matter that much. You gotta love it!

I am located in DC/MD/VA area can buy from any of these areas really. I plan on using your tips come month end. I did however go test drive at local dealership just to see if I wanted 4cyl or V6, and salesperson just proactively sent me pricing. I know from your tips, I can most likely get this down even further, how much less do you think I can get this down? This was for EXL V6 w/o sensing. I plan on emailing 10-15 dealerships at least locally at the month-end I am ready to buy. As I am located in MD, I would like to be OTD at $28K (6% tax rate, 299 processing fee, & ~ 279 registration fees).

    EX-L V6

    MSRP: $30995.00
    Discount: $-5004.00
    Sonic Price: $25991.00
    Freight: $875.00
    Processing Fee: $699.00
    Tax: $1653.90
    Tag: $346.5
    VA State Business Tax: $52.37

Out The Door price is $29617.77

    Also, couple additional questions:

    1) If I were to wait until summer, do you anticipate the saving to be even more drastic being that 10th generation models come out. And would that discount be much greater than summer month's the last couple years since it's a new generation rather than model year?
    2) In September 2015, Honda offered $1K finance cash, is this something they typically offer every calendar year?
    3) Last year, Honda also offered loyalty $1K for Honda Odyessey owners if they purchased an accord, was that a one time thing as well? Or this type of specials pop up at some point every year?
    4) Is the current .9 financing rate something that is always offered on Accords for 60 months? I only recall 1.9% for 60 months, but could be wrong.

Overall, I know I want to buy a EXL V6 at some point this year, just trying to figure out the right time to do it.

    Thanks

If time is on your side.... your playing with house money then . Email / call 30 dealers in and around your area . Pit one dealer against the next and stick to a XXX price gets my business .

Feb 28th ..........Getting another $500 off your above deal should be your target price to buy. Your room for negotiations is taken back most of this dealers ridiculous $699 doc fee.

End of 1st sales quarter is March 31st. If you wait till then...... above 500 savings should be very doable if not more . supply and demand in the area's your looking to buy will be a price factor.

Question 1- NO....... 2 - it depends on sales numbers ...3- don't know .........4- certain times of the year yields different % rates .

Being time is on your side shoot for a 500 lower price this month (feb ) . Next month $500 plus and stick to that price until you buy vehicle . mar, apr, may, june, etc

Personally if I'm only saving 500 dollars more waiting till June , July. I buy in Feb. and start enjoying vehicle now . your deal now as it stands is better than most states are selling

Hey that's was actually a quote I received.  I got the quote from Tyson Corner Honda.   Even with high doc fee, still under 30k.   I didn't even attempt to negotiate at this point either.

What is the Invoice for this car, and what price should I target for? Appreciate any dealership name(s), to contact (will travel further for better price). Same questions for the v6 . I saw a post in this forum EX-L out the door price as $26,000 in DC area. $27.3K is would end up in $30K.

What are folks paying for the Sport in Central Florida. Ive heard rumors of $21,500 for the vehicle itself and no trade, is this possible?

I know I cant get out of the fees below. I have no trade. Central Florida

The $875 destination charge is not negotiable with any new car purchase. $550 is probably the dealers doc fee charge. All Honda dealers will not remove Doc charge . You can counter high doc fees by lowering your asking price. If dealer quotes you 21k counter with 20,500

Your quote is $1033 below invoice. Minus this dealers doc fee charge ? That's your real below invoice price. There is room to go lower ? get more dealerships involved with pricing.

Looking for a little advice on the deal I've been working on with a local dealer.

    Car: 2017 Accord Sport SE
    Current Price: 22,750+349 Doc Fee+11 title+96 Registration+739.38+$10 Finance Fee=23955.38

To be honest, this price was perfect for me but then I found out the car in question has 227 miles on it. As a result, I'm looking for them to reduce to 22,500 purchase price as compensation. We've been at a stalemate for a couple days now. We were also stalled at 23000 for a couple days.

So, should I hold out for 22,500 or go ahead and pull the trigger? What would you do?

Am I too caught up on the mileage and expecting compensation for it? Most of what I've read online says that even a car with several test drives that's been on a lot for awhile will have under 50 miles.

If you figure the miles at .50 per, you are looking at about another $100 discount. Are you willing to walk away from the deal, and start over with a different dealer, over $100?

Thanks Brian. Unfortunately plans are not offered in fladue to state regs

I just said to my self after posting with Florida State law,

Florida residents are not eligible for online service contracts. Guess that's still in effect ???

Thank you ursnirmalt and thank you to other posters on this forum, it has been very useful. I have followed the example set by others and sent e-mails to all dealers in my area, I have the following two offers on the table. Are these good prices? I haven't had face to face negotiations with these two dealers yet, I am now looking for the V6 in Central Florida

    2017 Accord , EX-L, V6

    Offer 1 (White) - $25957 + Dealer Options ($699) + Dealer Fees ($699) + tax(7%)+Title+tag
    Offer 1 (Black) - $26968 + Dealer Fees ($699) + Tax (7%) + Title+tag

Are these good offers for this car? Do you think there is room to get better offers
    I prefer the Black color.

    Thank,

Clarification- The "Offers" I posted are written price quotes, from the dealers (two different dealers)

Alex2911 email me if you are willing to drive to Melbourne. I've purchased 6 Hondas from southeastern honda. All from the same guy who will get you the best deal. They have ALWAYS beat the big 2 dealers in Orlando.

    Break down your deal with....

Agreed selling price, amount of taxes paid , dealers doc fee charge, etc... Totaling your OTD #

Pretty solid quote from NJ. I also had the EXL V-6 so much better than the 4cyl.

Ex-L V6 is $2k more than Ex-L. Option 1 seems to be good. But dealer fees $699 doesnt make sense. Is it doc fee? Doc fee is $350 in tristate. Pls check in that. Also what is tag?

Try for another $500 down in next 2 days. Last 2 days of month might favor.

Have narrowed it down, to an accord sport se cvt as as a secondary car to get the family around. I reside in North Eastern NJ. Had a 1999 civic which I passed it down to my brother which has now 190K miles on it. I take a Japanese car over a German car any day. I have a G37 coupe with 80K with no issues. I intend to keep the car, for a 6 or 7 years. However, i was presented a lease offer, instead of buying as the 2018 is re designed with a turbo engine on it. This is the best two numbers I got using true car as a source to bargain and fall under exceptional deal.

    Lease.

    Car price 22,550
Out of pocket 1554 ( broken down below )
    Bank fee 595
    Dmv plates and registration 301
    Doc fee 399
    NJ tire tax 7.50
    First payment 252.68
    12K/36 months

    Residual 15498 + .06875 tax = 16, 563 Total Lease cost 10, 374
Buyout plus lease cost total 26,937

    Option 2 Purchase

    Car price 22, 840
    Nj tax 1570
    Documenation 290
    Registration 300

Total cost 25,000 with 0.9 apr
