    Subtract 6% from 36/12 residual.

36 months is the sweet spot for MB.

It's just that the GLC is pretty expensive to lease.

Could you post the current MF for GLC 300 coupe 2018 36 mo/10k for Philly? I'm getting quotes with two different rates and was told a completely different rate. See below. And is this a good deal?

Here is what I was offered.
    MSRP 61,110
    Sale price 57500
    Cap reduction 214.74
    Total due at signing 2500
    36 mo/10k payment with tax 851.04

So I started asking the normal questions RV and MF guy tells me RV 55% MF .0010
So I start running his numbers on scrap paper while asking about MDS's. He said yes but needed to find out how many and the discount off the rate.

At the 851.04 payment, they were using a MF of .0012 and not the .0010 the sales guy told me. At least that's what I came up with.

He comes back with the MSD payment (using 10) and that came to $777.04 per month. Tells me the rate used was .0004. So like magic, based on my calculations the rate was lowered to .0011 before the MDS reduction.

I've been a loyal BMW customer for 12 years now. With BMWF no longer offering the MDS program and nothing but BS trying to get a decent deal on an X4 (first offer only 1k off msrp, second offer months later 2.5% off but quoted incorrect residual and tax rate) and the X4 I haggled over for over 3 months is now gone, I'm still a little partial to BMW because I wanted that damn car. I was looking forward to the change from the X3 , wanted the added HP and the ridiculous exhaust rumble. So I kindly thank the guy for his time told him I wanted to think about it. The manager comes over as they always do. He looked so familiar, come to find out he was a manager at my current BMW dealer. We talked for awhile, then he went to get me his card. He comes back and tells me 799 a month including tax before the MDS. I told him I'd think about it.

With a new payment of 799 and not knowing the new new cap reduction, my assumption is they lowered the selling price to 56k and kept the MF at .0011?

If selling for 56k that's about 8.5% off, is that a good deal?
Which is the correct rate the .0011 or the .0010
If the rate is really .0010 should I ask for the base rate given the discount? I will ask the selling price on Monday.

Sorry for all the chatty detail...but I'm after all a chick

MF is .00090 and 36/10 residual is 55%

    MF is marked up.

Using the MSRP and selling price you've given, I get $746/mo plus tax, assuming all fees are paid out of pocket. 9% sales tax takes the payment to $813/mo. (this is using the base MF, not the jacked up one from the dealer).

MB MSD program seems very hit and miss. We've heard from others that you can use it for any MF, others have said it can only be used on the 'standard' MF (around .00200). Check with your dealer, as well as other local dealers, to see if you get a consistent story. That said, the .00040 MF quoted with 10 MSD is the correct rate if the base MF is being used. Payment would drop to $763/mo with tax at .00040.

So .... if they'll allow MSD, use it. Not sure how much of a discount you can get on a brand new 2018, but 8.5% may seem optimistic. As the saying goes, if you don't ask, you don't get.

Lastly, I agree that leasing a BMW has gotten more expensive recently. Driving off a lot of loyal customers.

    Hi Michael,

Thank you for reading and replying. The lease tax rate for Philly is 11%.

If the base rate is .00090 doesn't each MSD lower the rate .00007? Then the new rate should be .00020 and not .00040? When the sales guy came back he couldn't explain it to me, he said the manager told him give me the paper I'll understand it (funny some sales guys do not understand this). The paper only had the new rate written of .00040, which I believe is still using a market up rate of .00110 (-.0007) = .0002

If the rate of .0002 is correct using the 10 MDS, when I talk with them Monday I will ask what the sales price is given the payment of 799 the Manager gave me (that payment was without the MDS) then I'll calculate using the correct rate and tell them the payment is wrong, lol.

The funny thing is the BMW dealer is literally around the corner. I extended my lease two months to give me time to shop. I have until 09/30. Should I leave BMW, do I take the vehicle back to the dealer that it came from or in this case if I am leaving BMW for Benz do they trade/buy the car? This would be my first experience with this since I've been with BMW same dealer for 12 years.

I thought the per MSD discount for MB was .00005, but I could be wrong.

You can talk to the MB dealer about taking your BMW in trade. If you return the car to BMW, you will be responsible for the lease termination fee.

Ok, confirmed the MSD discount is .00007 per deposit. The new selling price is $55,700. Missing factor is the breakdown off the fees to know how much is going to cap cost reduction from the out of poocket cost as well as the MF used to get to the $799 payment. Out of pocket is $2500 to cover the Doc, DMV, acquisition, and the left over is cap cost reduction. My guess is somewhere in the $200-300 range was used for cap cost reduction, MF used between .0011 and .0012, and I think they added money to the acquisition fee. I think the acquisition was padded because on the one sheet I snapped a picture of when they walked away it showed fees of 1410.60. If I take off just $795 for the standard amount the difference of $615.60 seems high for Doc and DMV fees, and tax on the cap cost reduction.

I calculated the payment using a few different money factors and no cap cost reduction

    .0009 payment with tax $770.78
    .0010 payment with tax $780.23
    .0011 payment with tax $790.14
    .0012 payment with tax $800.05

    Applying 10 MSD
Using the correct MF of .0002 payment $700.92

Using the market up rate they gave me yesterday of .0004 payment $720.30

So now I'm at about 8.7 % discount, marked up MF, and marked up acquisition fee (at least I think). What should I do, argue both? Or suck it up given the discount?

Of course this will all change once I add the maintenance to the lease. Do they increase the residual when this is added to the lease like Porsche? I've been to so many dealers I cannot remember if MB does that. Also, isn't there an adjustment to the MF for auto pay?

We are finding that dealers are getting smarter about MF and discounts. It's becoming harder to get both the base rate and a really big discount. One or the other, it seems. You'll have to run the numbers both ways to see what works best.

Pre-paid maintenance programs are a bit of a grey area. If they can be added to the residualized value, then it's a good deal. We've heard both they can and cannot from other MB lessees.

I can confirm a .00010 discount to the MF for auto pay.

Thank you for the info. I will ask for the rate they are charging as well as the break down in fees and calculate from there. If they are charging extra on the rate, than It might be fair to just ask for the correct amount of fees and the adjustment for auto pay. At least that would get it within .0001 of what it should be along with adding the maintenance to the residual. Thank you for your help. Totally new to MB leasing. BMW was so much easier cut and dry. I'll be sure to let you know the outcome.

Ok, I inquired about the MF, the bank fee, the maintenance being residualized, and the discount MF for auto pay. They didn't respond to all my inquires but sent me the attached sheet. This is without the multiples and no maintenance included.

This is what they wrote in the email:
I attached a copy of our worksheet so you can see how we arrived at the figures. We do not quote base rates as that is a profit center as is the bank fee. That being said, a discount of 8.85% off of the MSRP makes this a great deal on This car. Let me know what you think !!

Why would there be a security deposit of 350 listed? Originally they had any overage of the 2500 due at signing applied to cap cost reduction. Now it says 3059.67 due at signing. I am so confused, lol. Help!!

Hi guys..I received a revised deal sheet. They lowered the acquisition fee, added the maintenance and residualized it. They also applied the multiples but said they used 8, why would the security deposit amount be 8k? Perhaps he meant 10? Am I missing something? Should it be new payment rounded to closest $50 (750 per deposit) or do they use the original payment? Does this deal look right?
