We won't likely see the new numbers until next month; the current programs for Kia don't expire until 10 July

Michael, historically when Kia releases a new model year does the lease cash programs for the new year change? Do they disappear? Become less? Stay the same? I'm about to lease a 2017 but may wait if I don't get the deal I'm looking for -- I just don't want to wind up with a much higher payment if the programs typically go away at first.

I've similar questions. I don't need to re-lease until December, but can in July if the deals are significantly better. I'm wondering if the 2018 residuals will be higher, but with limited or no lease cash back incentives, at least until September?

My guess is that I won't get hurt or loose out much if the new residuals are higher (and stay higher into the fall), and I can get maybe $2000. lease cash back (1/2 of current deal) waiting until fall.

The build MSRP of the 2017 and 2018 EX AWD with option packages are similar, about $250. less for the 2018. I would like the promised improved headlights of the 2018.

(Off topic: I'm interested in cross-shopping the 2018 Mazda CX-5 diesel option supposedly coming this fall. I'm curious if Mazda will have artificially high residuals to help kick-start sales. It's smaller than the 5 passenger EX 2.0T, and doesn't have a panoramic sunroof, but if you like the torque of a diesel, it may be worth considering.)

Michaell, Do other manufacturers' diesel engine models typically carry any higher residual than a gas/petrol, all else the same? There aren't many data points, other than VW, Jaguar, BMW, and maybe a random GM, or Chrysler.

The numbers for the 2018 will be very different than for the 2017's.

A lot of what happens will depend on how much 2017 inventory is around when the '18's are released.

If you want one of the first 2018's, it will cost you for that privilege.

No one can predict the future. Get what you want, when you want it (or need it). While we all want the 'best' deal, timing the car market is like timing the stock market.

Re: diesel residuals - what I've seen is that the diesel version of certain cars have similar residual as their gas equivalent (RR, Jaguar, Jeep). Again, no clue what Mazda may do with the CX-5 diesel lease numbers when (if?) it is released.
