Hi! Apologies - had asked for MF, residual, and lease cash on a Mazda 3 Grand Touring, Automatic Transmission in the SF Bay Area - 36 months lease with 12K miles per year. Interested in both the Sedan and Hatch. You had posted:

Sedan: .00003 MF and 53% residual. $2000 lease cash
Hatch: .00001 MF and 54% residual. $1280 lease cash

But realized this was in the 2017 forum :-( Very sorry! I actually wanted to get the #'s for the 2018 model. Wanted to see if the 2018's have the same #'s, or are they different?

Have been looking in particular at the Hatch in Soul Red Metallic w. the Premium Equipment Package. Looks like MSRP is $27,720. Am hoping to get ~10% off MSRP. So just under $25K. Aiming for the lease w. $0 down (just pay 1st month, registration, docs) to be about $310-$320/month including sales tax. Is this overly ambitious?

Adding the $595 acquisition fee, I get $306/mo.+tax

Can you get $2772 off MSRP? The $1150 lease cash will help, but I have no idea if that's possible. Not sure they have $1600 to play with.

They want me to pay 1st month's payment cash, but I just paid my car note for the month so I'm going to ask they roll 1st month's into lease.

What would equivalent monthly payment be? Is this a solid deal?

What are the $995 of aftermarkets? That and the doc fee add almost $50/mo to the payment.

ShadowMark (Theft deterrent/Insurance Program): $395
Nitrofill: $195
Tint/Door edge guard/Something to do with the cupholders:$310
Wheel Locks: $95

I balked at all of these, and they said they were already discounting the selling price to account for them (eye roll).

According to Edmunds and other resources, this doc fee is standard for NV.

Right now they're offering me $350/mo at 12k miles/ 56% RV / MF .00001, but I want to roll the first month's payment into the lease. If I do that, how much will the payment increase by? Around $10?

I let them know I had another dealer in the mix who was offering a slightly better monthly payment, but I was waiting on the trade in value of my current car. So we'll see what their best offer is.

Yes, $1150 for the hatch.

Like up front cash, we don't recommend using trade equity to lower the lease payment. That money would be at risk if the car is stolen or totaled. Use the equity for the up front costs of the lease(s), and have the dealer cut you a check for the balance.

Oddly, I have contacted four dealers in CT... when comparing the same exact car with same exact MSRP, two have told me the 33 month is the better deal this month and the other two said that the 36 month is lower per month.

Is my best strategy to just get them to give me the MF and residual for each so I can ensure I’m comparing correctly?

Dealers can mark up the MF as much as .00050 for Mazda - if they do that for the 33 month term, then the 36 month term will result in a better price.

Just tell the dealers that you won't sign a contract if the MF is marked up. Residual is fixed by the bank, and cannot be modified.

Definitely ask them to disclose the money factor and residual
But, in this case, 36 month term is probably slightly less.
Mazda is incentivizing the 33 month term, this month. But, depending on the actual numbers, it's not always cheaper for every model. So, some dealers are giving you a general opinion, while the other (correct) dealers are actually doing the math.

So, how does this look for a 2018 Mazda 3 GT in Connecticut? Interestingly, the rebate amount on this one includes $500 back for competitive trade-in, but no other dealer says one is available. I assume this dealer may be mistaken, but I’ll try to hold them to it by having them dump their $500 “dealer feee.” Also, no money from the trade is going towards the car.
