Hi,

Everyone has any idea how much it cost to change the rear brake pad and rotor on Sienna 13? I am in the maryland.
Got quote from

1st toyota dealer, replace brake pad/rotor for $630, replace only brake pad/resurface rotor $240
2nd toyota dealer, replace brake pad/rotor for $680, replace only brake pad/resurface rotor $480
local mechanic, replace brake pad/rotor for $330, replace only brake pad/resurface rotor $130

It just trouble me that the price is all over. Feel like they charge you whatever that they want to.

Thanks

The range of $400 would be right for California from an independent shop. Dealers will always be more expensive. If you are really strapped for cash, turning the rotors on rear brakes might be okay in order to save money. Prices can vary considerably by both zip code and the overhead of the repairshop. The quote of $630 for rear pads and rotors seems like a gouge, but then I don't know exactly what they are doing for that charge. They may be replacing brake lines or flushing the brake system and rotating tires, etc, all of which adds cost.

always compare like-to-like when getting estimates.

Recently had a rear brake job done which include new O.E. Toyota, but no resurfacing the rotor $125.00. Outside repair shop.

Most shops now insist on resurfacing rotors. I don't think this is always necessary but I don't argue with them.
