Thank you! Also, my dealer mentioned that there is $1000 of VW Owner loyalty cash as of recently. That would be on top of the $1000 lease cash you mentioned right? I should look for $2000 off MSRP at minimum, right?

Negotiate your best price, then deduct the incentives.

No info on loyalty incentive.

Do you have any numbers for 2.0T SEL for a 3yr/45K lease in PA? Dealer quoted an unusually low sale price, but his calculation shows that the residual is only around 42% of MRP. Hence the monthly payment also seems high. Am I just being taken for a ride?

50% for 2018 Passat; 42% for 2017.

Ah. Thought so. Thank you so much. Looks like he did not have any 2018 SELs in stock and wanted to push the 2017 car. I told him at least 5 times that I am looking for a 2018 car. Thank you for the information.

I have a question. My dealer said that there is a rebate available. But he is not ready to reduce that from the selling price. So my monthly payment is not going down. He says rebate cannot be reduced from selling price. Now his online selling price is $1500 lesser than what he has quoted me in the lease deal. So basically, I am asked to pay $1500 more than the online selling price of the car and I am putting down $1500 as down payment. Is that how it works? Any pointers would be very much appreciated. I want to change my car before end of this month and I need to take a decision ASAP.

You should work with another dealer, then. The competition between them to earn your business will get you the best price.

With tax, I get $457/mo, assuming that the selling price is the cap cost.

If I subtract the $1500 from the selling price, the payment drops to $411/mo

What payment is the dealer quoting, and what do you get?

I was getting around $410 as I was subtracting $1500 from the selling price. But the dealer says the calculation is wrong and there is no way to reduce $1500 from the selling price. But where will the $1500 go then? Even if I calculate payment with $0 rebate, it comes to around $460. So what is the significance of the $1500 rebate that the dealer is talking about? I am confused. Sorry if these questions are silly. Trying to lease for the first time.

It's likely the dealer is considering the $1500 as part of the discount they are offering you.

Check with other dealers; get them to compete against each other to get the best deal.

No info on loyalty.

615 is Tier 7.
Add .00295 to the money factor above.

disposition fee/ return fee on a lease-currently in a 2015 Passat, have a $350 fee at end of lease unless I go into another VW. If I go with a different car that is non VW, is that fee negotiable or can I work it into my new deal? would another dealer take care of it? Thx

It can be taken care of by a different brand, but likely by being added into the new deal.

What is the MSRP?

I can tell you right away, that the money factor is marked up the maximum amount. If they were using the base money factor, the total rent charge would be about $20, not $1849. (that's over $50/mo., extra!). I would guess they are using .00126 for the money factor

VW uses the same money factor for Tiers 1 and 2. Even if you dropped down to Tier 3, the bump is only .00030.

With the information we have, so far, this is a terrible deal.
