I don't think the lease from this dealer is very good then. 36 month/16,500. MSRP of car is $50670 - Market value selling price is $48645 - Incentives $2250. Adjusted Price is $46,395. Monthly lease payment $705. I ran the numbers with your residual and money factor and came up with a payment of $636. Dealer hasn't disclosed their MF or residual to me yet. Dealer said fees were: County $5, Document $138, and Non-Tax Fees $125.15 = Total $268.15 Any advice?

I get $572/mo plus tax with those numbers.

Ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost - I see no reference to the acquisition fee or any dealer fees. That might explain some of the difference. Marked up MF might be the rest.

So. Spent some time on the phone with the dealer and he asked "Where are you getting those MF and residual numbers from?" How can I explain that I got the info from the wonderful people at Edmunds. Is it reasonable to get them to match the .5% APR and the 52% residual value that you quoted me? Do you get those numbers directly from Lincoln financial?

They are using APR of 1.5% and Residual of 51% ($25841.70) on a 36 month/16,500 mile lease. Based on those numbers pre-tax/pre-fees I get $624. They said those numbers (residual and MF) are from Lincoln Financial. In PA sales tax is 6% and usage is 3% so a total of 9% tax rate. So taxes total taxes of $56
So they are tagging on an additional $25 in fees per month (seems steep) = to get to a $705 payment.
I told them $705 is crazy.

Using Lincoln's website without any negotiation Lincoln generated a monthly lease payment of $669. They came back with and matched Lincoln's offer on the website. But I believe that price is still too high.

I agree with your number of $572 a month without any fees just using Lincoln's $1250 incentive. PA tax (9%) = $51.50. And roughly title and other fees in PA add about another $10 a month. So all together I think the lease should be $633.50. Does that seem about right to you? Should the dealer be closer to your .5% APR and 52% residual on a 36 month/165000 lease in the 15501 zip code?

Don't try to negotiate the MF - simply tell them you won't sign a deal where the MF is marked up. They know the base rate. Then, reach out to multiple dealers; only takes one to meet your numbers.

The residual is fixed by the bank, the dealer cannot modify it.

Our sources are confidential, but you can trust them.

$25/mo in fees is just under $1000 - acquisition fee and dealer fee are the likely culprits. Again, ask the dealer to provide the adjusted cap cost, and how they arrived at that number from the selling price.

Guess these don't lease as well as we thought.

Thank you for all of your input. I really appreciate your help. Earlier in the year you help to guide me through the MF and Residual for Jeep Grand Cherokees and regular Cherokees. This site has been very educational and I appreciate the time you take answering everyone's questions.

They are quoting me a mf of 2% or.00083. Is that not correct? They also said residual is 51%. You are quoting 52%. Thoughts?

Residuals are national, and 52% for all trims for 36/15

The rate I have for Texas is for the Dallas market.
    0.50% APR for 36 months
Black Label APR is actually 0.25%, but no lease cash on that trim.

No MSD program from Lincoln; with the APR / MF that low, it wouldn't really do you much good.

Thanks, Michael. Also, if you buy with X-plan pricing, is the residual calculated off the X-plan price less lease cash or the MSRP?

Thanks. So, does a .75% MF equate to .0003125?

Yes, but only the first 5 decimal places count (.00031)

I realize this is the 2017 thread but my local ford dealer is offering me a brand new 2016 MKX AWD with a sticker of $54,495 for $45,450. Question: Is that a fair offer given it's 3 model years old? How would the MF and residual work on that given it's a 2016?

We don't show any lease programs for 2016 models.

Thanks. What about a purchase discount? Is $10K enough of a discount off the MSRP? Seem like it should be more.

We don’t track pricing – use the “make / model / year” tabs at the top of the page to link to the Edmunds price tools.

I just got a lease quote on a 2017 MKX Reserve. No money down out the door for 704 per month for a 36 month/12k per year (this includes MN sales tax.).

See the offer sheet attached It seems like they are adding in some expense that I don't think are necessary/fluff. What do you think?

I get $662/mo with those numbers (52% and .00010 MF)

Ask them what MF they are using for their quote. It might be marked up.

They told me they are using 52% residual and .0001 MF. I think they are using these, it is the roughly $2,500 in fees added that are driving the payment up. I get the registration and first months payment....but the other items seem excessive.

One of those fees is likely the acquisition fee ($650?)

Here is how the deal is laid out: Sticker price $58,795 less $4,895 off of sticker and $2,500 of rebates, sale price of 51,400. Then they add: taxable fees $648.5, reg tax $650, doc fee $100, tax $1,246.92 and non tax fees $47.50. Net price of $54,092.92.

I think the tax number of $1,246.92 is a dealer add to make money.

MN may be a state that taxes the sum of the lease payments and collects it up front. Check with your department of revenue to confirm.

MN does require the state tax collected up front., which explains a lot of the difference.

Can I confirm that for a 2017 MKX Reserve at 36 months/12K a year the MF is .25% (.0001) and the residual value is 52%?

I think I am close to a deal.

I confirm both the residual and MF as stated.

Hello. I'm looking at an MIX Select AWD with an MSRP of 47,690.  Zip code 43017 and I can get X plan pricing which would be 45,608.  I think they're using a 55% residual and a money factor of .011667 which translates to 0.28% APR.  The monthly pymt is coming in at $560 per month with just the $1,500 incentive money down  I think $1,000 is conquest $$.  Does this all seem right?

The  $560 includes tax which where I live is 7.50%

I confirm the MF and residual (assumes 39/12).

Do you know what cap cost the dealer is using to get $560/mo?

I get $591/mo, before tax, with those prices.
