Car suggestions

I asked the same question about a year ago but have been on military duty since so thought I'd bring it up again and see what peoples views are. I drive a long way to work, all highway (100miles) currently in a fiat 500. I know it will not last forever as they are not built for that kind of driving. What does everyone suggest? Diesel? Open to all suggestions

Each way or round trip? Moving is certainly an option. A diesel will pull good MPG. Or a hybrid. An affordable option is a car like the Jetta SE 1.4. Get a slightly used 2017 (my nephew just picked one up for less than 15k), comfy, plenty of features, and can pull an easy 40 highway.2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.

Since you already drive a pretty economical car, I would think you should shop for comfort rather than focus on MPG. Even if you found a car with better MPG than the Fiat 500, it wouldn't be dramatically better and so hard to justify the cost of a newer/newish car purchased just for MPG. Stickguy's suggestion is definitely in the right direction for you, I think. Commuting every day can really wear you down if you are in the wrong type of car for that type of driving. You need comfy seats, smooth but firm ride, good visibility and not a lot of road noise.5
