Truck stalls when slowing down and idle changes from 500 to 1100

The other day my truck started stalling when I take my foot off the gas to slow down or stop. Most of the time it will start right back up but sometimes I have to give it a little gas. The other thing I noticed is that the RPM's will be at 1100 one day and the next day or the next time I start it it sometimes idles at 500. Can someone tell me what could be causing this to happen please.

There's a long list of possibilities. First things I'd do is borrow a code reader and see if anything is stored. I'd also check for obvious vacuum leaks (loose or cracked hoses, etc).

If none of that does any good, then you'll have to have some diagnosis done to figure out what you are "losing" when the car stalls---fuel, fuel pressure or spark. Could be a bad fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, bad crank or camshaft sensor, misbehaving injector.

Like I said, long list. Start with the simple, go toward the complex.
