You could RE- try emailing 10/ 15 dealerships at the very end of this month Oct , 31st and not sooner asking each for another 800 dollars off above deal for the sale that day. OR wait a couple more months pricing will loosen up .

Don't forget your state has a very high Doc fee charge . Always counter that charge by lowering your asking sale price. This may be your only room right now for price lowering negotiations...Good luck

    The MSRP is $40,475.

Considering the $1750 incentive, they are asking for full MSRP.
No, not a good deal. Especially considering an $800 doc fee.

I'd want an additional $2800 off (5% of MSRP + $800 to make up for the doc fee).

    The calculations look correct.
The money factor and residual are correct.
There are $2500 of incentives on this model, so it looks like you are still getting a substantial discount.
What is the $399 accessories charge for?

If you take this deal, I'd restructure it to not put up that big CAP reduction. Eliminate the $1849, and take the resulting higher payment (about $395/mo.)

Since I'm not in the market for a 2018 RDX or know your area's pricing , Here's my 2 cents.

Your current offer for this demo is about 1400 below invoice assuming awd model ? Not sure if there's any finance/ buy rebate money dealer used to get to this price . If no rebate / incentive $$ were applied... Its a good deal, but you still may be able to due better with end of the year sales incentives for dealers. If you don't like to negotiate and no rebate money was applied buy vehicle.. OR

Scenario #1- What I would do is email / call as many dealerships that your willing to travel to....to buy vehicle. Ask each dealer if they will sell you the same new model Acura base matching your demo price or beating the 34.9k price excluding taxes, tags, & doc fee. Tell all u will buy vehicle today holding with a credit card. If any dealer beats the demo price buy it...... Do not tell other dealers your 34.9k price is for a demo.

#2. If your not sure of area pricing call / email 10 / 15 Acura dealerships last week of Dec. Let each dealer know you will buy said model for X price. (set your new target pricing when negotiating between 34.k to 34.9k ) if no dealer rebate money is avail. ) then holding with a credit card to secure deal......

OR.... ask each dealership for there best price and let dealers know.... your buying at months end . Dealers that respond with pricing (34.9k ) or lower negotiate a couple of weeks till the very end of this month.

Buying last 2 days, last day of Dec will give you the best pricing leverage. It is what I call the Super-Bowl of car buying. .................Good luck

Hi - looking at a deal on an 2018 RDX w/AWD & AcuraWatch - do you think there is any more room on this to negotiate? We do have a trade in so we need to put out some serious cash to not roll the debt into the new vehicle already. I'm comparing this to a 2017 Dealer demo model w/Tech package. We don't have to buy but looking to see how good a deal we can get at year end.

    38295 MSRP/Sale price
    + 495 pro pack
    - 3865 discount
    =34925 vehicle price
    + 1475.31 tax
    + 97.76 tax/title
    + 579 processing
    = 37077 total

    Thanks in advance!

@mtroadie, as far as I know, this is pretty good price. I am also looking for similar RDX with yours but OTD is 1k higher than yours. I'm in Houston, TX.

I am new here and am wondering if I have a decent deal on a 2018 Acura RDX Technology package with AcuraWatch:

    MSRP: $42,500
    Sale Price: $37,700
OTD: $40,629 (I don't have the breakdown of tax, title and doc fees)

I live in Massachusetts. I would appreciate your feedback. Thank you.

Your price is on the higher end of a good deal for a 2018 model. Wait till the end of the month 30th / 31st . You may shave off a few more hundred if you get more dealerships involved in pricing

I made last tuesday, 2018 RDX with technology. total 37,800 (including taxes 2100) in Dallas, TX. I would have made better deal, but time is constraint. No acura dealers ready to email their quotes. Honda doesnt want me to buy, they simply adding options to accord which i like it, but no options for $4K.

My biggest complaint on this one is, windy noise. please notice while test drive at lower speeds like 15 mph. I am scheduled to drive this weekend and waste another half day at dealership
  • makslick1makslick1 Member Posts: 4
I originally went to lease RDX, in texas, we need to pay tax at full price (about $2100). i changed my quote to buy-out price, in which the dealer doesnt want to honor as lease incentives are better than Buy-out.
initially they agreed to sell me for OTD 38, 000, i later called them to reduce $200 which they obliged. so far happy with my RDX minus wind noise from driver side. GAP insurance $749, i dont know how it helps if we are not on lease.

    Congrats on the new RDX.

GAP insurance might be useful, if you financed the full purchase price. But, $749 is a little pricey.

No, purchasing in Virginia. I complained about the document fee as well, so the dealer knocked another $300 off the purchase price (my state charges $295). List price is $39,595 (which I thought was a bit on the high side, as other dealers have posted around $38.5k msrp). All of my research seems to indicate it's a solid deal for the purchase price - it's the add on fees like the document fee and the destination fee that chap me a bit.

As for my Honda, it needs some significant repairs. While it can be driven, it needs about $750-$1,000 in repairs and won't pass state inspection right now. It's in great shape (body, paint and leather) other than the mechanical repairs. I just don't have the time to get it repaired nor a place to keep it.

MSRP is MSRP.. .look at the window sticker.

Splitting out the destination fee from your purchase price is just a way to make it seem like they are charging less.... your price is $32,975 (or, adding the doc fee, $33,670).

There is a $2500 Acura-to-dealer incentive, so that makes your effective discount $3425.
    (39595 minus 33670 minus 2500 = $3425)

If the MSRP is truly $39,595, that's a good discount.

Don't trust the MSRP that dealers post on their website. Acuras don't have that many options. It's mostly by trim line, so an AWD RDX with AcuraWatch should be the same price, at all dealers.

Go to the Acura website and "build" the car, and get the true MSRP. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples.

Also, for $1000, I'm going to sell that Accord, myself..

Thank you for the detailed response. I built the car at Acura.com and came up with $38.8k MSRP.  Bases on a prior answer on a different trim, seems like 16 percent off MSRP ( including all discounts and holdbacks) is a solid deal. That would work out to $32,587.

Seems like I'm getting hosed on my trade, but I just don't have the time to deal with it anymore.

Let me add something to my prior post. Total with e destination and doc fee is $33,374. Working from that number and the Acura MSRP of $38,795, subtracting the dealer incentive of $2,500, my net discount would only be $2,921. That's not great, but if you add in the additional fees noted above to the MSRP, you come up with $40,089. Doing the math from there, and deducting the $2,500 incentive, my net discount is $4,215.

My only advice.... get better at figuring out the MSRP.

I just built the car on-line, and the MSRP is $39,795.

The one they have at the dealer might be a couple hundred less, because it was built before the last price increase.
    MSRP always includes destination fee.

I appreciate your advice. I was able to get more for my trade after pushing a bit more.

Edit - can I assume I received a decent deal?

    Yup...

Thanks. I'll post the complete breakdown for the benefit of others when I get a chance.

Looking at a 2018 RDX AWD, Tech, w/ AcuraWatch. It was a loaner vehicle and has ~6000 miles on it. Warranty ends up being longer than new since it is CPO, but dealer doesn’t want to move on price -

2018 RDX, AWD, Tech w AcuraWatch
    6000 miles
    Price - $36915
Other Fees - Less than $750 (don’t have exact)

Should we be able to negotiate this further?

It can be offered as either a demo unit or CPO, but not both.

If it's a demo unit, it qualifies for the new car lease rates, but there will likely be an adjustment to the residual for the miles.

If it's a CPO (previously titled), then we don't have the lease programs from Acura for that.

What lease term and how many miles per year are you looking for?

    What is the MSRP?

It is being sold as CPO and we would purchase outright instead of leasing. When I build one on Acura.com MSRP is $43,495 (with destination).

    thanks!

A brand new unit comes with $2500 of incentives for the dealer, so you could probably buy it for $39K.

$2000 extra off doesn't seem like enough for one with 6000 miles.
Sometimes, a dealer just isn't realistic about the value of their vehicle. Especially if they have only a few (demo/CPO units).

Looking for a 2018 rdx awd with tech in Philly area. Quotes from dealers nearby and N. Va were not even close as what was found in another thread for 2017 rdx last year. I expected bigger incentives but looks like a no. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The dealer gets a $2500 dealer incentive from Acura for sale/finance.
    Factor that into your offer.
