Thank you to all for this valuable forum!
In Texas, I have an initial lease offer on a 2018 S5 Coupe, Premium Plus:
10% off MSRP and $3k off sales tax
    $60,495 + TT&L
    mf .00190
    36 month/ 12k miles
    residual 58% with Audi care

Does this sound like a good deal? The mf seemed high to me and they have not run my credit yet which is 750+

    Thank you again.

    Base MF is .00102.

.00190 is the base MF for the SportBack. Either they made a mistake (unlikely), or they are marking up the money factor (likely).

Sales tax credits are a big deal in Texas, of course. But, not if you have to give the money back in a marked up money factor.

    Did they quote a payment?

How do I go about finding the base Money Factor & the Residual Value for an S5 Coupe & Sportback in the greater Los Angeles area?
  • jps7450jps7450 Member Posts: 11
    edited March 2018
    Yes, they quoted payments of:
    $701 w/ $6,500 down
    $672 w/ $7,500 down
    $597 w/ $10,000 down

I'm also considering single pay - that quote was $31,682.52

Another dealer has agreed to match the 10% discount and tax credit and probably beat it by $500, but I don't have the payments on that yet.

I still have to get some dealer add-ons out of the deal as well.

Yikes - those are some pretty high up front amounts.

We suggest only paying the first payment and registration costs at signing.

Yes, I hate monthly payments, so I asked for a higher up front payment.
I'm also considering switching to Prestige, but as I learned from these forums, the residual will be lower.
Is securing base mf realistic? I talked to one dealer today who said that base on a Prestige is .00118 and they add .00080 to arrive at .00198. For a single pay, they mark up .00040 for .00158

Looking at the Premium Plus and the Prestige.

Seems strange to lease, if you hate monthly payments.. ;)

.00118 is the convertible base money factor.
    The coupe is .00102 MF
Insist on the base rate, or shop around. Those markups are egregious, especially the higher one, and not only that, they are basing them on a bogus money factor that is already higher than the base.

You are correct... on the coupe, the Prestige residual is 3% lower. That is a $50 bump in payment, before accounting for the higher list price.

You will be much better off doing a single-pay lease, if you have the funds, than making a large CAP reduction.

When you start talking price with other dealers, tell them you insist on the base money factor, so they should quote you prices based on that.

Thank you SO much! I went back to the dealers and asked if maybe they used the mf from another body style by mistake and sure enough, we are now at base mf of 0.00102! I worried that they would deny that mf and ask me for my source, but they didn't even ask.

This is great information, thank you!

I am also buying a S5 sportback, premium+, 36mo/10k lease in Orange County / Los Angeles. Do the MF and residual values differ in OC compared to LA? It seems some dealers are heavily discounting S5 this week — manufacturer to dealer incentives must be strong?

No difference between LA and OC - both are in the Western region.

Deals to be had this month in Houston on S5. Every dealer matching 10% off MSRP, $3k tax credit. Was finally able to get base money factor, so I’m done shopping.

Thanks for your response. I have an additional question. In NY atleast they do let you lease from outside banks or credit unions, which may have better mf and residual values. What is your valued opinion and experience, as far as leasing from sources other than directly from Audi.

3rd party banks may offer better numbers, but they aren't as invested in you as a repeat customer, so the end of lease scrutiny may be harsher, leading to more charges.

In this case, I'd stick with AFS.

A dealer in Long Island just told me that they have an official 3 month audi lease pull ahead program right now on offer. I suspect this to be not true, and just a tactic to get me into the dealership; or there is an official Audi pull ahead program ?

    MSRP= $61,850
Sales Price=$56,528.14 (dealer claiming this price is also invoice but not including acquisition; acquisition = 895)

    36 months - 12k miles/yr - $3000 "driveoff" - SoCal

    53% RV and 0.00093 MF.

    $799.99/m (tax included)

Would appreciate if you could tell me where your numbers come from. Thanks!

    .00093 and 53%
    $1000 loyalty

What does the drive off include?

As is, those prices give me a payment of $743/mo, before tax.

Your quote is in the ballpark. But, need to know how the $3K breaks down before passing final judgement.

    Hah! I respect that..

Dealer originally said there's a minimum "driveoff" amount (I think it's something like first month's payment and DMV fees maybe). It came out to something like $1700 originally. I then offered to put $3000 up front. From what I'm seeing, it looks like the dealer took the original $1700 and then added $1300 to it. Hope this helps.

Are any dealers in SoCal doing better than the .00093? Also, is the 5k off MSRP any good? I was hoping to get better numbers than this since there isn't much demand for the coupe. Thanks again!

Yes Sir and you gave me these 36/15 numbers. I would appreciate 36/12 as well for NY.

.00093 is the base MF from AFS.
If I add $895 for acquisition, then deduct the extra $1300, I get $731/mo.+tax. Which looks about right.

That seems to be a reasonable deal. Not a cheap car to lease.
