I really don't understand how to negotiate CAP Cost, wouldn't I have to know what the lowest amount that a dealer can go to? Any advice on how to do this? I went to Lexus dealer yesterday and they said 2018 RX350 would be 800 a month for a lease. MF 00110 36/12 for an FWD with MSRP 53389 0 down. I know they were trying to rip me off, so I'm trying to figure out how to negotiate properly. I'm Texas and there is also supposed to be 1000 incentive and some kind of tax incentive.

Use the "Research" tab at the top of the page to link to the pricing tools at Edmunds. Your goal is to be below the TMV price for your zip code.

If there are tax incentives, that is a very good thing. TX assesses sales tax against the entire selling price, which makes the lease payment expensive. The tax credits takes the tax rate from 6.25% down to 1.25%.

The MF on that quote was marked way up, too. Dealers often try to hit that proverbial grand slam on their first offer. Figure out a reasonable price, make sure the MF isn't inflated, and pay attention for bogus fees, and you should be fine.

We don't have the Eastern Region numbers, but here are the Central Region terms. They should be similar:

Acquisition fee is $795

Doc fee is determined by the dealer, but in NJ usually runs between $400-600

DMV costs are determined by the state.

Same residual, but we don't have the Eastern region MF and incentives.

For the Central region, we show .00055 and no incentives. Should be close to that for you.
