So how does the MSD work? so you put 10 MSD (~$5000) down as the deposit with the dealer or the manufacturer, and with that, you enjoy a lower interest rate, and you get your MSD back at the end of the lease term (e.g., 3 years later)?

That's basically it. The amount of each MSD, however, is the monthly payment rounded up to the next highest $50.

It's a nice return on your investment.

Using the numbers and prices provided, I get $628/mo with 7% tax added to the monthly payment.

Ignore the tax amount; that's likely for a purchase.

Sadly, the $799 doc fee is typical for Florida.

What else is part of the $3000?

$628 first payment
$799 dealer doc fee
$795 acquisition fee (often marked up to $1095)

That's $2222 (or $2522); is the rest going to cap reduction or to DMV costs?

And yes, the MF markup is adding over $60/mo to the payment.

I wouldn't sign this deal.

15% Discount: $ 35925.25
Plus following fees
- 95.77 inventory tax
- 150 documentary fee
- 130 license fee
- 20 bridge and road fee
- 7 state inspection
- 33 title
- 795 acquisition fee
I guess I need to add 6.25% tax for Texas
Somehow I have a feeling that these fees are marked up, in particular the acquisition fee. Am I right?

Residuals aren't negotiable. 15K/yr is 2% lower than 12K/yr.
$795 is the base acquisition fee
The other fees look typical/normal
Texas taxes the full selling price, even on a lease.
In this case: ($35925.25 + $795) X 6.25% = $2295.

The destination charge is part of the MSRP - not negotiable.

I don't know if the pre-paid maintenance cost can be negotiated.

If we subtract $4000 from the sale price, the payment is $447/mo.+tax.
But, don't see the $795 acquisition fee listed, so if that comes out of the upfront money, then the payment is pretty close.

The number you want: Adjusted CAP cost.

Thanks a lot for your quick reply. I checked again, it was $0 due at signing, all the cost/fee are averaged across 36 monthly payments, sorry for the confusion. I was expecting the monthly payment should be around $500 with a reasonable deal. but maybe I am too optimistic.

So for the Base MF 0.00112 you referred above, is it before applying the security deposit or after applying the maximum amount of deposit? In my case, the asked for $6000 = 10 x $600 to reach the maximum security deposit. The 0.0016 MF above in the quote is actually after apply the $6000 security deposit.

If the .00160 is the MF after MSD, the MF is marked way up.

You want .00112 before applying the MSDs.

Tell them you won't sign a deal unless you get the base MF

Ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost, and the full breakdown of how they got to that number from the selling price.
