I'm in TX. The dealer updated his offer.

with .00099 and 56%, his final monthly payment is $656 include tax.

I know it's not the best. Should I take the deal?

So let me see if I understand the MSD thing correctly. Using a rough approximate based on some recent posts, lets say I'm leasing a GLC with MSRP $50,000, selling price $46,000. We know for 36/10, the residual is 56% and MF is .00093. Plug that into a lease calculator, assuming no tax, down payment, or other fees, we get a monthly payment of $569.

If I put up max 10 MSD's, $6,000, it would lower the MF to .00023. That would lower the monthly payment to $517, a savings of $52 monthly, or $624 per year. My $6,000 "investment" returns $624 per year, over 10% annual. Guaranteed. Tax free. Unless I'm missing something, that's the best use $6,000 I can imagine.

Unlike a down payment, is the deposit returned if the lease ends early due to theft or total loss?

All of what you said is correct.

No real down side, so long as you have the cash to do this.

I can understand why residuals are different, but why do they have different MF for different versions of the same vehicle (RWD/AWD, etc.)?

You'd have to ask the bean counters at MBFS why they do that.

I'm sure it's all part of a plan to balance profits and payments for the customer.

    .00093 MF and 56% residual
    $750 incentive

With that MSRP and CAP, I get $653/mo.

Looks like a massive markup to the money factor.
(the math says they used .00193 MF)

Even when the MF, RV, and fees are correct, are people seeing deals below invoice these days?  How much?
