Please post 2017 model questions, here:

But, I wouldn't assume those numbers would have any relation to 2018 model numbers, once they get here.

SEL msrp starts at 24600 (always includes destination charge)

do NOT put 2500 down. It's been repeated, ad nauseum, that if you have an accident and the car is totaled in the 2nd week of the 3 year lease, that money is gone.

    ref:
    http://www.realcartips.com/leasing/0314-dont-put-down-payment-on-car-lease.shtml

    repeating my earlier post:

"May 2018 will not be a good month for Sonata sales unless they add a Memorial Day event later in the month. Compared to April incentives, this month's is down 1000-1750 depending on trim level and location.

    SE - lease more favorable
    SEL - buy more favorable
Limited - lease more favorable "

Thank you, Tony! Given it's more favorable to buy for the SEL trim level, would you recommend to buying the car for $18k instead? Or is it better to wait till the end of the month for better discounts?

Given sonata used cars have good resale, I'm considering buying as a better option.

    enter your zip here:
    https://www.autobytel.com/hyundai/sonata/2018/incentives/

note buy incentives are different than lease ones. Also, looks like you have extra 1000 sales event cash that we don't get in the Midwest. That is why the buy price is so low...

If you are military, Hyundai MAY double the military incentive for Memorial Day (they have in the past) so that may be a good reason to wait til end-of-month

Thank you. Given, I cannot avail the military discount buy seems to get me the lowest sale price. The rebates include $1k Uber driver rebate which brought the price down to $18k.

What was the total incentive for zip code 78745 in April?
  • tonyg2016tonyg2016 Member Posts: 728
I can only speak for the Midwest as incentives vary by trim level and location. For April, there was sales event cash(750) and loyalty cash(750) which made for a sweet deal. I regret waiting but that's how it goes.

Sonata sales are pitiful so they have to keep/boost incentives to move metal.

18k for a 25k vehicle is excellent. Just get financing from a credit union and don't fall for extended warranty sales pitch (not necessary) or bogus extras. Should be able to get out-the-door for under 20k...

Sounds good. The dealer promised $18k out of the door, taxes and fees included. I might just go for the financing option given the rebate I'm getting. I have been debating this against the Optima EX

Thanks for your quick responses. Appreciate it!

    18k out-the-door is not possible

the rebate drops to 1000 (from 3000) if you take the HMF low-rate financing

    no free lunch

Anyone know what the range is for tier 1 and tier 2 credit for Hyundai? How much does the money factor increase for tier 2 on 2018 Sonata SE in NYC? For example, if tier 1 MF is 0.00083, what is it for tier 2?

    Thanks in advance!

Tiers 1-3 (700+) all have the same money factor
Tier 4-6 (640-699) adds a varying amount, depending on the base MF..

I don't have the specific info for this model, but it's going to be in the .00050-.00070 range (above the base)

    negotiated car to 21200
    dealer is offering 3500 rebate

need msrp, residual %, MF is not correct for this month, HMF lease or 3rd party?

Lease cash is 3500 (not a consumer rebate)

Horrible deal; you have plenty of room to go down - 225/month maximum
Sonata sales are terrible; i would wait for memorial Day sale if you can

    this is HMF lease
really need a car and the Camry was coming out too expensive..what do you mean exactly by sonata sales are terrible? Dealers aren’t making deals?
and when negotiating, should I negotiate the sale price at this point or the monthly?

considering how easily they went down, don't you think there's a bit more to squeeze out of the deal?
as noted above, residual should be 53% for 12k miles per year vice 52% -that's another $6/month

in general, sedan sales are bad and sonata sales are even worse than the average. plenty of info online to support that assertion.

still a good car to lease for 36 months; note there is a 400 dispo fee at lease end...GL

Question for moderator or group. Looking to lease a 2018 Hyundai Sonata Sport in Kentucky. 36 month term with 12000 miles per. Hare are the numbers I've been offered.

    2018 Sonata Sport
    MSRP $26,500
    Selling Price: $23,795
    Doc fee: $589
    Rebate: $2500
    Adjusted cap cost: $21,866
    Total savings + rebate: $5,205

$229 per month payment includes tax (6%)
    Money down : $1985

The y set the residul at: $14,575 (55%)

Thoughts? Is this deal ok or should I go at it harder?

    Thank you!

need more details but it is currently not a good deal. First, never put down that much. Driveoff amount should be less than 500 (1st month + dmv fees ONLY)

zip? i checked louisville and the lease cash is only 2000

    money factor?

Thanks Tony. The dealer write up did not show money factor. Zip is 40513. This particular Sport has a 2.4L I-4 cyl engine...if it matters.

  • chang2chang2 Member Posts: 10
OK. One other question. Is the residual factor (55%) figured by the MSRP ($26,500) or against the Adjusted cap cost ($21,868) He's calculating against the MSRP.
  • tonyg2016tonyg2016 Member Posts: 728

i know you guys don't normally get mid-month updates but i am seeing an extra $500 off on SE and SEL models from 5-14 to 5-31; perhaps an early Memorial Day bonus.

autobytel just posted "sales event cash" of $500 on SE and SEL only until 5/31

I've been reading on here that May is probably not the best month to lease a Sonata, but I'm still shopping around for the heck of it.

MF and RV please; lease cash? Thanks in advance.
I'm not that picky about my vehicle. I'm more picky about how much I spend.

$985 down $259 a month payment (includes tax)
    $1485 down $244 a month payment
    $1985 down $229 a month payment

    Adjusted cap cost: $21,866
    Total savings + rebate: $5,205

$229 per month payment includes tax (6%)
    Money down : $1985

The y set the residul at: $14,575 (55%)

Thoughts? Is this deal ok or should I go at it harder?

    Thank you!

Sport 2.4 engine is the one quoted to me

    .00114 and 55%

I get $244/mo with the MSRP and adjusted cap cost provided.

What does the $1985 up front cover? Possible that some of if goes to cap reduction (down payment)

They didn't stipulate what the $1985 was for. They offered three options: (36 month/ 12,000 miles)
$985 down $259 a month payment (includes tax)
    $1485 down $244 a month payment
    $1985 down $229 a month payment

Are you saying that there should be nothing down and $244 a month excluding tax?
Awful lot of money to put down without knowing what it goes to.

    Ask for an itemization.

We recommend nothing out of pocket except the first months payment and any registration costs.
Here is what the dealer sheet shows...

    Retail price: $26,500
    Sales Price: $23,795
    Gross Cap Cost: $25,382
    Rebate applied: $2500
    Cash down to cap: $1985
    Net Cap Cost: 20,897

    Up front taxes: $119
    Up front doc fees: $589

    Base payment: $217
    Tax: $12.96
    Payment: $229

@chang2 curious why the sport model? it is only cosmetic stuff, same engine, bigger, more expensive tires. Better deals on SEL with tech package

stuck on sport? no more than 500 drive off and no more than 250/month (35 payments)
    make an offer...
