transmission?

I bought a 2005 Toyota matrix for $250 and was told pre purchase that it was bottomed out going 80 mph and now if you put it in any gear it wont move. I took off the transmission pan and was told that it was full of clutch material and peanut sized chunks of metal. Can anyone tell me what exactly is wrong? I think its the transmission or transfer case but I'm not sure.

    Regardless of whether it is a manual or automatic transmission your transmission is toast.
