So the deal became worse, they added $300 lease cash but reduced the residual by 1% while keeping the same ugly MF

Do you think that August will change that money factor on the 2018? We have leased our last 3 Odyssey's in August and always got a very good deal on the outgoing model year.

Don't need a crystal ball to think.

I think the deal will be a bit better in August but that may depend on amount of inventory possibly.

We never put anything down on a lease as that is not a smart move if it gets totaled. You won't see that money again. We have never paid over $435/mo. for a new, leased EX-L. If that MF doesn't come down though it will be near impossible to keep that streak going.

We try not to speculate - avoids folks throwing our words back at us if (when) we're wrong.

There's no historical pattern to the lease programs, and it's folly to try to time the market.

Hi...first off, Thank you for all of the assistance that this board provides. I was just at the dealership attempting to negotiate a lease for a 2019 Odyssey EX, with aftermarket DVD player included, and they came at me with $459 per month, 36 months, 15k per year, $1400 down including the first payment. I was wondering if you could tell me whether that is a good deal worth pursuing. I am in the central New Jersey area. Thanks!

What is the MSRP?

Adding accessories can kill a good lease deal. Most can't be residualized.

MSRP is $34,955. I know the entertainment system is pretty much an at-cost add on. Unfortunately, Honda has made it so the only model with the rear entertainment option is the EX-L, which hikes the price to over $40k. Makes it a tough cost.

Did you price one out for a lease?
The EX-L with NAV and RES has a 1% higher residual than the EX.
Yes, it will be more expensive, but with the higher residual, and avoiding the extra cost for the aftermarket DVD, it might not much different on the lease price.

They are still leasing the 2018 model.. until they are gone, 2019 model leases will be expensive.

$459/mo. for a $35K MSRP vehicle doesn't seem very good. Mostly, because of the lease program.

That's what I thought as well. It seems that based on the calculations, it's not far off, but the issue really stems from the lease program. I haven't been able to find any 2018 models left in my area, which has been the issue. Do you think it would it be worth it for me to really try to scour the area for a 2018 to get a better deal? The model is almost unchanged at this point so the issue is only inventory, not anything to do with new features or upgrades.

Yes.. I'd do a hard search for 2018 models, and expect a big discount from MSRP.
The lease program isn't a lot better than the 2019, but the discounts should be a lot bigger.

This is the quote I got today on a 2018 touring. It does include the remaining $838.00 on my current lease, they said they "may" be able to take care of it if I was ok with paying $650.00 per month. This seems really high to me, but the last odyssey lease I had was for a 2012 Elite model and only paid $509.00 a month. Does this seem typical or high to you? Thanks in advance.

The calculations are correct.
The residual program isn't great.
There aren't many incentives on the Odyssey and the money factor is high.
That is a 7% discount from MSRP. The only place I see to save money is on the selling price.
Or, wait until your lease is up.. that adds $25/mo.
