A couple of points to note about taxes:

1. PA has a 3% surcharge for leases, making your tax rate 9%. Tax is assessed on each monthly payment
2. VA sales tax rate is only 4.1%, but the entire selling price is subject to tax

Odysseys are not that rare - can't you find what you want in PA, and avoid the travel and hassle?

$34,991 is a great price for the car. $34,991 + Destination ($995) is ok. That + a $699 document fee isn’t good, in my opinion. I didn’t see the $595 acquisition fee for the lease. Perhaps that is contributing to the monthly payment difference.

I leased the same car last week for $445/mn with 7% taxes and $1055 at signing. If you are applying the trade equity, I would expect the payment to be lower than $480 for sure.

ask them for the lease worksheet. That tells all.

@Gibs68 Seems like you've been taken in by a cheap quoted price, that is actually much higher. If the VA dealer can't figure out the sales tax, maybe you should shop closer to home.

I'm also curious to know if anyone has every extended their current lease up to a year going month to month so they can get a better deal. My lease is ending and I either need to purchase, extend, or get a new lease but the payments being quoted are over $100 more than my current lease. My payoff on 2016 EXL w/Res, 42,500 miles is $21,406. Better to purchase current lease or get new lease?

No info on loyalty.

No info on month to month extensions of your existing lease - talk to Honda finance about that.

Just signed a lease on December 22nd (ZIP 33912) for a 2019 Odyssey EX-L NAV/RES, with front window tinting, wheel locks, and rear cargo tray added in. Walk-out lease, no cap cost reduction payments, $480.19 lease cost ($509.00/month after sales tax), 36 months/36,000 miles. Turned in our 2016 EX-L NAV two months early before lease expiration; the dealer paid the last two payments, and applied a token credit for the car's value towards the new lease.

Great deal, I think!

Only catch is this: I also added in a maintenance plan for an extra $23.58/month, but it turns out it's a third-party plan ("Fidelity Warranty Services, Inc."?), not the factory Honda Care Maintenance plan... so I'm considering returning to the dealership and demanding a switch to the factory plan. We'll see! Anybody ever buy a factory Honda Care Maintenance pre-paid package? Any idea of the cost, is it competitive?

Whether you get a Honda plan, or not. I'd ditch the 3rd party plan.
