Tax in NJ isn't levied on the monthly payment, it's collected upfront.
But, that would only change the result slightly.

Have you been offered that deal?

@Michaell they just emailed me saying that "the leasing calculator I'm using must use a different formula than LR and that their payment would be considerably higher. And sorry it was not the news I wanted."

@Michaell just an fyi - i based the numbers for the leasing calc off of the advertised car MSRP and sales pricing...and the car has been on their lot for close to a year

    Hi,

Can you please review if this number (calculations) I got from dealer is correct? MSRP 65,098, Discount 6,666.22. Due at signing is 1,564.47 (consist of license registration 857.75 and first month 705.05). Term is 39/10 with base MF (I believe 0.00014). Monthly payment is 636.9 + tax = 705.05.

Does the monthly payment is correct given thr MF and RV? Thanks

EDIT: Fixed MF and this is for 2018 P250S

The math is the math - there is only one way to calculate a lease payment.

What differs are the numbers one plugs into the calculator - and, the only true variables in a lease are the adjusted CAP cost and the MF. LR dealers are famous for not discounting their vehicles, and for seriously marking up the MF.

I'm not surprised that their numbers are different (read: higher) than yours. Very typical LR dealer experience.

Agreed. That's why I make an Excel sheet for guidance on expected monthly payment. Very grateful for the help on this (and other) forum in helping us calculate the number.

I get $610/mo plus tax if I use $58,432 as the cap cost.

Are your calculations also including the acquisition fee, or is that paid up front?

My guess its probably part of the lease. The amount due at signing is $1,564, which $705.05 is advanced payment. The remaining $857.75 only mention "upfront fees". I think $857.75 is only for license and registration (I could be wrong). I think dealer acquisition fees is $895 or so.

You need to get a complete deal sheet (screen shot?) from the dealer so you can review all the numbers.

I pulled the trigger. Hopefully the dealer was honest and didn't add extra surcharge. Here is the breakdown:

    Term: 36/10 - 2018 P250S

    MSRP: $65,098
    Discount: $6,666.22
    Agreed Value of Vehicle: $58,431.78
    ----------------------------------------
Initial Title, License and Reg: $3
    Acquisition Fee: $895
    Doc fee: $150
    Gross Cap Cost: $59,479
    ----------------------------------------
    RV: $35,803.90
    Depreciation: $23,675.88
    Rent Charge: $34.08
Total Base of Monthly Payment: $23,709.96
    Base Lease Payment: $658.61

    Sales Tax: $67.84
    Total monthly payment: $726.45

    Thought?

I would like to give shout out and special thanks to this forum and specifically Michaell (and other moderators) who help me in doing my research on getting first lease.

Last question, for my future learning: This car (on Window Sticker sheet) come with 'useless' accessories - not even installed option - such as Wheel Protection Package (tire cleaner, tire gauge, chrome wheel locks) and Basic Rear Seat Convenience Package (to hang clothes hanger on back of driver/passenger seat). I am curious if these accessories are really the part of option that dealer ordered from LR USA - the options are part of MSRP, or does the dealer actually does not order car with those accessories, then the dealer added accessories, and reprint the window sticker to jack up the price?

The search is finally over. Thanks!

Looks like a really good deal.

It's pretty easy to tell the difference between the official Monroney sticker that the government requires, and an additional sticker from the dealer. You just have to look at it.

Here is the Window sticker and the "optional package". I have a feeling the "Wheel Protection Pack" and " Basic Rear Seat Convenience Pack" is add-on from dealer, unless it is not a made up window sicker by dealer. Thought?

If those are add on option, just wondering if that's something we (buyer) can typically refuse? I know this is a done deal, but good learning experience for future reference. Even adding those "unwanted" option, I still think I got a decent deal at the end of the day.

I'm having a really hard time with the dealership willing to give me the monthly payment rate that I want. The payment they are giving to me is 975 with 5,000 down.

I'm not sure what money factor they are giving me but do you have any idea what payment should be if the car totals out to 63,000 after all discounts and tax added?

Also, the dealer is telling me they can't tell me a range of what my payment will be since I am doing a build order, they said the Money Factor changes every month so they can't give me a rate since it'll take 4 months for the car to arrive. any thoughts on that or what I should counter that with?

I have a credit score of 740 but I don't have any previous auto loan,
So i have a cosigner who has a score of 680 and just paid off an auto loan of 38,000.

I'm thinking payment should be at 750-800 max.

    any opinions/suggestions?

If you want a good deal, don't order a car.

The dealer is correct. They don't know the lease program for four months from now. I'm surprised they could even be certain if it was a 2019 or 2020 model, by the time it's built.
But, it does seem they are quoting you a payment?

Regardless of your credit score, you should submit a credit application, so you know if you are top tier, or not.
