Toward the end the transmission did get quirky but never failed at well over 100k.

Imagine that -- a Chrysler product with a transmission issue. I was a big fan of Chrysler products back in the '90s until 3 of 3 that I had occasion to deal with regularly had major transmission issues. That was my first and last automatic transmission, though my wife still drives vehicles with them, but they aren't Chrysler products.

they used normal doors so people that wouldn't be caught dead driving a minivan, would drive a minivan.

I think a minivan is an especially hard pill for a man to swallow. It's kind of silly to think that a mere "image" could ruin your psyche, but apparently it can :p

We have friends with minivans....offhand one an Odyssey two have Chryslers. They love the cargo capacity, I don't think they worry about driving dynamics or image.
A minivan would ruin the fun of driving for me, too much like a bus or a work vehicle.
At least with 4 real doors a van becomes a little more carlike, that helps a bit.

Being a fan of the 70's E cars, I appreciate the tribute, but think the current Challenger is a bit to chunky. All the 60/70's pony cars chunked up in today's iterations, but to me the Mustang is probably the leanest of the bunch.

For sheer styling I like the 1970 Challenger but modern day technology can’t be beat.

By clunky I assume you’re not just talking weight but also the high belt line styling required by safety requirements. As far as weight Mustang is the lightest beating Camaro by a hundred pounds or so. Challenger is over 4000lbs and that requires a lot of extra hp to move it.

Is the Challenger that big because they didn't have a smaller platform they could use? They are pretty nice, but, they lose something by being so big and bulky, for a "pony" car.

Based on the 300 platform I believe.

Talking about the Pacifica -- what I don't get is if you're going to build a people / junk hauler, why use conventional doors instead of the sliding doors on a minivan? Those things are the greatest invention since sliced bread.

I think the new version does have them.

Well, yes, but the new version isn’t actually the new version. Its a new T&C with the Pacifica name slapped on. No idea why. If AWD were an option, it would make a little more sense to me.

If I could get some years back to when my kids were still in college, I'd still drive a minivan. All that hauling people or goods between home and campus, I don't think even a Suburban could swallow up as much. The weight and good tires meant no real issues in winter snow in the minivan either. In fact, I think it was better overall balanced than the crossovers I've owned. I haven't driven the new Pacifica van, and the two I owned back in those days were a Ford and then a Honda. I have to imagine the Pacifica drives and rides better than the old Town & Country or Caravan I've driven as rental cars did though.

sda, I like that color. Like silver, it doesn't show dirt. Plus you are not stuck with a grey or black interior like in silver cars. A beige or similar interior just seems more spacious visually and seems cooler in hot weather as well.

I previously posted this saga on my Facebook page and thought this group would appreciate it as well. The author of these posts hails from a BMW forum that shall remain nameless(in order to protect the ignorant). Here is his first unedited post- from June 2018:

So im driving in thr canyons and i know im lazy and stipid and havent gotten my rear brakes fhanged for months like 5000 miles overdue and out of warranty. I was waiting to get money to get warranty on it but its still time away.

So im driving the canyons going 85/90 mph and then suddenly hear a npise and something falls in my car . I thought it was a rock but then i stopped and chrck and it was a piece of my m235 rotor. When i saw it i was shoked i cant beliebe nor understand how the rotor flew off and somehow managed to fly out and forward and get this.. my sunroof was open and it came inside the car and hit my shoulder nearly missing my head.

Im so grateful and lucky to be alive. I cannot believe i almost could have been seriously injured had that hit my head. I dont know what to thonk. I know its my fault for being stupid and not getting my brakes fixed but still i cannpt believe nor have i ever heard of something like this happening. The rear rotor comes pff goes right then up then left into the sunroof and nearly misses my head.

If that's not moronic enough, he posts a picture of the destroyed rotor, revealing that he was bottom feeder Korean all-season tires instead of OEM Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

    The Rest of the Story...
Here's, an edited summary of our hero's January 4. 2019 post from his thread entitled:
"Right now I hate BMW Financial so much it's not funny"

I paid $7000 down and $700 monthly just to lease my n235. I'm pretty sure that was a complete rip off

Anyway my lease expired in May 2018

I extended my lease until September

Car needed repair so I put it in the shop

And then I got shot and went to hospital

I barely recover and get out December. Few days back I brought my car home from shop and 2 days later I get repod just as I'm about to purchase my car. I could care less about trading it in or returning it. I loved my m235 and I'd love it more than the m2 comp I'm going to get.

I hate BMW so heartless. Don't care I almost died. Don't care u paid off my lease. Don't care I have an emotional attachment to my car and wanted to buy it.

All I can say is; a pox on any dealer who sells that wingnut an M2.

when we had kid #2, my wife was more than happy to swap the Legacy wagon (FWD, stickshift) for a new design Voyager. Tons more room in that.

kid 1 got taken to college in the Odyssey. Kid 2, we had the RDX for her trip. That was a lot trickier packing job!

No idea why you would say the Bears are lousy. They are a very very tough team and that was a war of a game. I give the Eagles all the credit in the world for that win and, IMHO, everything else is icing. If they lose in the next round, they are still champs in my eyes and Foles is a football legend for pulling this off yet again.

Bears were the better team, I think. Eagles just capitalized on the very few mistakes they made and nearly shot themselves in the foot on multiple other occasions.

Bears are a defensive and special teams powerhouse. Problem is, field goals are special teams too. If you can't make field goals, you can't really win as a "defensive" team. This is why when Gould was Gold they made it to the Superbowl. This year they had Coal instead of Gold.

I have no idea what model I would need. I like the idea of it being in the mirror, I want it to look built in with no wires showing, easy as possible installation, has to record from the front at least.

One of them has batteries and if your car is banged from the rear it will start recording immediately. It is too new for reviews.

The one I am thinking of is this one....will it do what I want it to do?

Driver, I am late to the game here. I went with BlackVue and their power magic EZ. They call it EZ as it plugs into the OBD port for power. Super easy to run the power cord up the A pillar trim and headliner to the camera location.

I could have pushed the mount higher and shortened the cords, but want a center view point, and tha big giant rear view mirror hides it from view when I drive. The second cable is to the second rear camera.

My Tesla records about an hour on a loop (first in first out), but if there's something you want to save, then you press the little camera icon on the screen and it'll save the last 10 minutes of driving. All that data goes on a USB drive that you insert into one of the ports upfront. Pretty slick. I think the aftermarket units' length of recording depends on the data storage capacity.

    Definitely does!

I put had a 64GB unit in my Blackvue 750, and it was not able to store a full day of driving (round trip to Anchorage and back, about 15 hours total footage). I was going to do a compilation video on it, but found that the earliest footage I had was south of Willow on the way down (e.g., most of the way to Anchorage already).

So, I now have a 128GB card. Problem solved there! :)
I have the same camera and love it. Used iMovie on the Mac to stitch some clips together.

What brand of SD cards are you using?

    I'm not great at math but 60 minutes X 8 hours = 480 minutes.
Divided by 90 cases a day 480 divided by 90 = about 5 minutes per case.
I can see it now, guy comes in, announced that he was going 70 in a 50 zone, gavel comes down, "That will be $100 sir" "Next case".

    Why? you may ask.

Because as someone who has zero interest in the sport I am spared the consistent mentioning of the Bears. If the had won I would have been bombarded with Bear talk over the radio, on TV, in the office and just about everywhere.
Happy to have you on the Eagles support train! We welcome all, most especially those who don't care or want to hate us! :D
Sorry, not on that train either. Don't care who wins just leave me out of it.
