Michaell, Im kind of new at this- when you say $1000 incentive, that means the dealer has a free $1000 to give off the selling price- but if the dealer and I agree on a selling price with which to calculate the lease then that already includes the $1000 incentive, correct? Thanks!

Went to 7 dealership the past 2 weeks. The highest msrp discount I got was 9k on a 2018 gulia ti sport rwd Trying to narrow down the best affordable deal. Since I missed last months end of the year sale.

It looks like the 24 month leases on these cars is not as bad a deal as I thought it would be when compared to the 36 month leases. That is unusual. Typically 36 month leases are much better options. The 24 month residuals aren’t great but they are low enough to where the low MF and significant discounts make the 24 month leases a viable option.

I mocked up leases on a $50,000 TI car with what I felt was a reasonable discount($6000) and the 24 month lease is only $49 more a month. I was expecting the difference in payment to be much greater than that.

I mocked up a similar car with the 2019 BMW 3 series numbers and the 2 year lease numbers are almost identical to the Alfa numbers. However, the 36 month lease numbers for the BMW are MUCH better than the 36 month numbers on the Alfa Romeo. When you do the same test with the Infiniti Q50 the difference is even greater. The 36 month option there is actually quite good while the 24 month option is just simply terrible.

The take away I got from this is that the 36 month numbers on these Alfa Romeo cars really aren’t a good option. The 24 month numbers aren’t great but at least they are in line with other equivalent cars unlike the 36 month numbers.

The 36 month option on something like the BMW 3 series, Mercedes C300, or the Infiniti Q50 are still a better option but if you are going to lease one of these Alfa Romeo cars then I would at least suggest looking at the 24 month option especially if you like to swap your cars out more often than not.

Disclaimer: These calculations assume the same $6000 discount for each car and the same $50,000 MSRP. Those numbers may not always be realistic or it may not be the largest discount possible for that particular car.
