I signed a lease for a 2018 Civic EX-T sedan today with $2500 down and 238/month in Durham, NC (36m/12k). I feel I've been ripped off. So far I've only paid a $500 deposit. Any advice? Thanks a lot.

Have you taken delivery? If not, you can go back to the dealer and tell them you want to unwind the deal.

I agree with the stated MF, residual and incentive.

I get $245/mo before tax, so the quote looks to be in line.

Only way to improve it is to lower the selling price.

additional cap cost - $1939.33 broken down as follows: $799.50 proc/doc fee + $265.50 gov’t fee + $595 acquisition fee + $279.33 first month payment

gross cap cost - $21239.33

Adjusted cap cost - $21239.33 (no incentives were offered because cap cost reduction was $0)

residual - $12633.30 (which is right at 54% of MSRP)

Monthly payments - $279.33 (MF was correct at .00065)

Told this was $0 due at signing. Everything rolled in as reflected by computer breakdown of numbers I was sent

Selling price looks good to me, but no incentives are being offered for capitalized cost reduction. Any insight on this offer. If $1300 incentive is national and dealer threw in $1000, it would reduce payments by $27/month and put me around $252. That’s where I want to be. Is that realistic? The incentive is likely Honda-to-dealer, so it would be accounted for in any negotiated price.
The $4100 off MSRP seems good, even taking into account the $1300 incentive.
However, $800 dealer fee takes back some of that. Your effective discount, after subtracting the Honda incentive and the dealer fee is $2000.

I calculate $261.07+tax , which puts me within a couple of pennies of your quote, assuming 7% sales tax rate.

The only place I see to work on your deal is with the selling price.

Also, by rolling in the first payment and the Government fees, you are subjecting them to sales tax (re-taxing the first payment, plus taxing non-taxable fees)

If I were to do your deal, as it is, without further negotiation, I would pay the first payment and government fees at signing.
If you did that, the adjusted CAP would drop to $20,694.50.
