Hello Michael and Kyfdx,

I'm looking to buy (not lease) a GLE350 (2018) or a GLE400 (2019), in the Phoenix area. What kind of discount can I expect? I see about 10% on the 2019 and about 11 to 12% on a 2018 model via truecar (listing it as a great price). I haven't given my name, nor have I contacted any dealers yet. What ballpark should I be looking at? Can I push for 15% off MSRP? (Considering that a completely redesigned GLE should be up in the lot in about 4/5 months). There's some inventory in our area, but one dealer I went to (without discussing prices) was telling me that tehy are not getting any more of the 2019s.

So, I went to the dealer to test drive the car. Originally, I thought it was an executive demo but then he told me it was a loaner, in which, I believe depreciates the value even more since it's not one-owner.

Some questions:

I wanted to apply $1000 dealer incentive + $1000 loyalty incentive + MB first payment (up to $800) credit. He said I couldn't apply all and could only choose either the incentives or the credit. Is that accurate? I call BS. The website doesn't mention anything about the first payment offer not being able to be combined with others.

He showed me the deal sheet and I saw only $1000 deducted for the mileage adjustment (8,400 miles). Correct me if I'm wrong, it should be .20 cents per mile for the mileage adjustment. So it should have been at $1680.

For the mileage adjustment, lower is better is for you.

So I'm in an interesting spot: it's now 2019 and the same MB dealership that leased my wife her car (lease is up 6/2019) has a 2018 GLE 43 SUV just collecting dust on their lot. My wife wants to move on to a Land Rover Discovery in June. But i know if we can steal this car it would be fantastic. Does leasing it now in 2019 hurt me even though it's a new 2018?

I've gotten quotes 10% off MSRP on 2018 GLE loaners/executive demos from 2 different dealers without negotiating. But they were rock bottom discounts. Both didn't give me a chance to counter.

As for a new vehicle, find a local dealer and go on their website to check their inventory. Get the availability of their inventory and see if they have a lot of 2018 sitting around. If you're flexible with color, I found Iridium Silver to be the easiest to negotiate with as it is not very popular choice. The sales manager even attempted to take 12% off MSRP using his own employee discount to get one off his lot. Of course I proved to him I did my homework and went shopping around first before going to them. He didn't hand it to me on a silver platter but my point is... you may also have a chance of getting 12-13% discount off MSRP on a new 2018 (not 2019) GLE if you do your homework.

I dont know what payment the dealer is quoting you, but it's certainly not a good deal.
