slapping redline

I know red lining the car isn't a good idea, but i've liked the sound of the people who do it and spin around or do donuts on their car and you hear it slapping red line, but when i do red line on my 2018 brz first owner, it goes up to redline and then stop me from accelerating even if i continue pressing down the gas pedal, instead of slapping the red line. my question is, why doesnt it slap redline like other cars do? is it something in the cars computer that is something i have to change or does it just not let me do that for 2018 brz

    If something breaks when you are trying to do that, are you going to pay to repair it, fix it yourself, or do you think it should be free to you under warranty?

    It's possible some manufacturers use a "soft redline" rather than a "hard redline" like your car seems to have. Also, people can modify the redline limiter with tuning software, which they might have done on the cars you observed.

    Your car should bounce the redline if you keep the throttle down, so maybe it has something to do with driving conditions at the time.

    Keep in mind that on manual transmission cars, if you're at redline and you grab the wrong gear, say 2 instead of 4 on a downshift, the rev limiter will not save the engine in that case--it will over-rev and probably damage itself.

    lol obviously, i literally wrote that i know its bad idea, meaning i know that ill have to take care of it if anything happens since it is damaging the engine, i asked a simple question, im not looking for another question.

    so basically I'd have to tune it to do the red line slapping right? also yeah i understand about the dangers for downshifting especially when its already in a high rev , thanks for answering my question

    i see he shifted and hit redline heavily, but thats not what im talking about here, im talking about slapping redline, not shifting so heavily or downshifting when high rev'd, if you dont understand what im talking about watch this video at 0:43 mark how it hits redline goes back hits redline, basically ur not shifting at all your just slapping redline continously without dropping as my car does. but anyways i know why my car is doing that now, we are not talking about financial here main question of mine was why my car doesn't do it.

    You do realize that none of those are stock engines, right? Your BRZ doesn't do it because the engine controller software was written to try to protect the engine. Everyone that I know that has played with aftermarket software has broken rockers and bent valves from exceeding the redline. It only takes one event. Play if you have to but expect to pay if/when it breaks and it will which is why I don't advise doing it.

    If you really want to hear engines that turn very high rpm nothing tops what F1 used to do. 20,000 rpm

    now thats one of the answers im looking for now, not questions lol, although, it's mainly new cars that are programed to protect the engine, thats the main reason i can't do it and it is possible to do it to a stock engine car ive seen people do it, i know it damages engine and obviously as a car person who wants to play around am willing to pay for stuff, doing stupid fun stuff doesnt come at free, my friends old miata doesnt have that software and he still runs stock and hes been able to slap redline multiple times, all engines have a limit as long as ur not as crazy as doing what that person did in your early video shifting when already high revs it should last a bit. and yes i know different engines have different limits boxer engines are strong too ive seen stock old subarus do it too. my question was already answered by the other person.

    I have repaired the damage from someone over revving engines many times through the years. A lot of it under warranty when it shouldn't have been because of how much an owner complained.
